THE WAR YOU DON'T SEE - John Pilger's New Film in Seven Parts on YouTube

A powerful and timely investigation into the media's role in war, tracing the history of 'embedded' and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq. As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an 'electronic battlefield' in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?

John Pilger says in the film: "We journalists... have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else's country... That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is. For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home... In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us... Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power."

Glad to see this posted

Pilger rocks.

One of the last true journalists.

Wow, what an impact that had.

Wow, what an impact that had. Gotta love the humble, honest direct way he addresses the many journalists, and I love the way he showed clearly, the devastation, too many take lightly caused by ignorance, blame being placed on our (supposedly responsible?) media, having just been compliant and lying lying down. Lying down apparently has more than one meaning in that sentence. This should be required viewing in all high schools. I've heard of a local high school recently that showed Zeitgeist. by the way.

I'm so grateful to fine film makers, and of course Danse here is one that has done wonderful work. That, film making, more than authoring books, will wake people up. People already hesitant to take in information that challenges their bleif system, watching a film will happen for them, before reading something they are challenged with.

Keep them coming Danse too. Dispersing knowledge, this way is the best thing we have. Fine use of your professional skills, sirs!

I too am so glad to see this posted here. Truly, the problem with media is as dangerous as is our government. Ignorance lets thousands of innocent people die.

Thanks Blubonnet

I'm honored and I completely agree -- the greatest menace is the mass media, and the greatest antidote is the truth.

Even a seemingly tiny action like canceling one's "noose paper" (thanks YT) is highly significant. No more corporate media. No more state media.

And Merry fucking Christmas. Seriously though, I wish all "bloggers" a happy Christmas. We're gonna need it.

Great quote !

Great Post. We need some real

Great Post. We need some real Journalists.

I watched this yesterday

and I was pleasantly surprised by Pilger's effort to contact the journalists in question directly. Very good piece.

When those like Media Matters

When those like Media Matters speak against us, I immediately cancel them out of my email reception. I think when those of us that want to let them know the "err of their ways" getting an immense response of cancellations is a good way to make a statement. We do have remarkable numbers now. Let's use it! I dumped Huffington Post too upon their dismissal of us. Well, our dismissal of them, will hurt them, because there are a LOT of us! Let's use our numbers to let them know we are the juggernaut of awakening!!! Unless they get on board with us, they will sink. Our numbers CONTINUE to amass also.

Very Powerful , outstanding insight !

Pilger calls these MSM folks out for the lame pawns they really are. Shows the true carnage of our terror inflicting campaigns, leaves no doubt about the war crimes committed by the leaders of the US and Britain, evokes the necessary recognition of the extensive injustices permitted under the illusion of patriotism and dedication to democracy! Wiki-leaks covered nicely with the interview of Assange and the helicopter gunship murder video! How could the US deny that criminal charges should not have been brought after their investigation of that matter? I feel Assange shows real emotion for the devastation and overt disregard of humanity displayed. No matter what, Pilger exploits that video as it should be exploited to reveal the treachery of the US War machine! Who could blame a country that wants it's own nuclear weapons to protect it's borders from the western terrorist powers. It also shows clearly the absorption of palestine into greater Israel and the illusion of any real interest in justice for the Palestinians. Cynthia McKinney calls out Obama for the warmonger he really is! Perfect!

I'd rejoice if Pilger took the next step...

and proclaimed the obvious to jolt the oblivious.

There will probably be a

There will probably be a bunch of denialists, denying even what Pilger says here. He probably knows of course about that day going on ten years ago. Anyway, I came across this clip of John Pilger on Democracy Now. Very good. But, very bad too. We are getting our freedom from censorship shut down. Censorship is looming more heavily now. The more we and all else, expose it the more likely, those with the censorship agenda will have to concede.
