Military-Industrial Complex from Eisenhower to Obama
Gareth Porter on how the Military-Industrial Complex evolved into the Permanent War State

I liked the perspective in this news report

I am glad to see this kind of news.
The Left-Right / Democrat-Republican duality exposed as puppets of The Permanent War State (Military-Industrial Complex ).
I see this kind of news as telling of a gradual shift...more people are waking up to the lies.

Why no mention of JFK's likely murder by the Complex?

Of course I am mostly in agreement with anyone opposed to the US military industrial complex, but I found the argument that Republicans, and not the Democrats, are the true opponents of the Military-Industrial Complex hard to grasp.

Why wasn't the fact that President Kennedy stopped the Miliitary-Industrial complex from launching nuclear war (on at least three occasions by my count, from reading James Douglass's JFK and the Unspeakable: Why he died and why it matters of 2008) mentioned in this interview? Why do they take, at face value, Kennedy's statements that he supported a stronger military stance by the US and not take into account the reasons, well documented by Douglass and others, why he chose not to allow himself to be depicted as a peace candidate in 1960, in the same way that unsuccessful Democratic Presidential candidate, Adlai Stevenson did in 1956? Do Paul Jay and Gareth Porter the dismiss the evidence that JFK could not have been murdered by Lee Harvey Oswald alone?
Another concern is that Noam Chomsky features prominently on here and here. Is the Real News unaware of Barrie Zwicker's video The Shame of Noam Chomsky and left gatekeepers? Has Barrie Zwicker's concerns about Chomsky ever been addressed by the Real News, or Chomsky himself, for that matter?

Like most politically aware people I take seriously the murder of President Kennedy and the evidence that the accused murderer Lee Harvey Oswald, slain before he could even be put on trial, and who repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, could not have murdered Kennedy alone. However, Chomsky, in a bizarre fashion did not. Chomsky's word's captured on that video were, "I mean even if it was true, which is extremely unlikely, who cares?"

I have yet to form my own judgement on Barack Obama's record as President. He may well turn out to be a puppet of the Military Industrial Complex as this interviewer and interviewee claim, but I think before we rush to judgement, we should at least acknowledge how the murder of a President who stood up to the Military Industrial Complex in 1963 and his brother in 1968, just at the point when his winning the Democratic Party's presidential nomination seemed assured, will have affected the behaviour of any subsequent President of the United States.
