9/11: Are Our Universities Failing Us?
A Discussion on Academia's Treatment of Critical Perspectives on 9/11
& Conclusions of the Toronto Hearings on 9/11

World Premiere of documentary "9/11 in the Academic Community" - Winner, University of Toronto Film Festival (2011), directed by Adnan Zuberi. The documentary examines academia's treatment of critical perspectives on 9/11 by analyzing three areas: the nature and the dimensions of the taboo of researching and expressing critical perspectives of the events of 9/11, scholarly scrutiny and the official 9/11 narrative, and the role of universities and intellectual courage. Through the experiences of recognized university professors and a former university president, the documentary discusses how many academics who can be harsh critics of the Bush Administration and the war on terror yet for some reason identify themselves with the official narrative of 9/11 quite aggressively.

The documentary will be followed by a discussion with Toronto Hearings on 9/11 participants: Professors Richard B. Lee (Panelist, U. Toronto), Graeme MacQueen (Expert Witness) and Herb Jenkins (Panelist, McMaster U).

A crucial topic

Good luck to Graeme and the other panelists, and to the filmmakers. I hope they will have other opportunities to screen this film elsewhere--especially on college campuses.

One question--above it says this is the 'world premiere' of the film, but also that it was a winner at the 2011 UofT film festival. Then wouldn't the screening at that 2011 film festival have been its actual world premiere?

re:

Thanks for your support and I'll try to get this film out soon on campuses.

To clarify, our short film won the film fest. I then expanded it to a comprehensive analysis of the academy and that's what I'll be presenting on the 11th anniversary.

I see

OK, thanks for the clarification. I hope it's a very successful presentation of the expanded film.

This looks really promising

Wish I could be there.
