A new Canadian survey by polling firm YouGov reveals popular support and little opposition to a Parliamentary review of the 9/11 Commission Report, with 33% in favor, 26% neither for nor against, and 19% opposed.

The review was called for in a petition submitted to Parliament on December 3, 2014. The government must officially respond by January 17.

The poll was commissioned by U.S.-based Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, an organization representing 2,300 professionals calling for a new investigation into the World Trade Center destruction, and by ReThink911 Canada, the group responsible for the petition bearing 1,427 signatures.

The two groups, together with the international 24-member 9/11 Consensus Panel, held a press conference on December 10 to call upon the government to go forward with the Parliamentary review.

Among the petitioners’ concerns is the destruction of 47-storey World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7), which collapsed smoothly into its own footprint at 5:20 PM on 9/11. It was not mentioned in the 2004 9/11 Commission Report.

While a 2008 report by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology concluded that office fires caused WTC 7’s collapse, critics such as the 24-member 9/11 Consensus Panel present peer-reviewed evidence that a controlled demolition, not fires, was the cause.

According to YouGov’s survey results, almost three times as many people suspect controlled demolition over fires after viewing video footage of WTC 7’s collapse. 52% are either sure or suspect that it was caused by a “controlled demolition” versus 18% who are sure or suspect ordinary fires caused it.

Regarding trustworthiness of sources, 45% are more inclined to believe critics who say explosives were used, while 16% are more inclined to believe the U.S. government

“With numbers like these, it’s difficult to tell why so many politicians and journalists are unwilling to touch this issue,” said David Long, director of ReThink911 Canada and author of the petition. “Canada has been participating in the War on Terrorism for far too long without ever critically scrutinizing the basis of it all.”

Says Richard Gage, a member of the American Institute of Architects and founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, “We’re very encouraged to see that many more Canadians are in favor of a parliamentary review than are opposed to it. If the Canadian government grants the parliamentary review, we have dozens of technical experts who would be honored to testify, and right the record on this tragic event.”

Critical questions about 9/11 are at this moment also before the U.S. Government.

House Resolution 428, currently before the U.S. House Intelligence Committee with the support of 21 cosponsors, calls for the release of 28 classified pages of a 2002 Joint Congressional Inquiry report implicating the Saudis in financing 9/11.

Former U.S. Senator Bob Graham, Chair of the Joint Congressional Inquiry, called for the release of the 28 pages at a press conference yesterday on Capitol Hill.
