The 9/11 Commission Didn’t Believe the Government … So Why Should We?

9/11 Commissioners Admit They Never Got the Full Story

The 9/11 Commissioners publicly expressed anger at cover ups and obstructions of justice by the government into a real 9/11 investigation:

  • The Commission’s co-chairs said that the CIA (and likely the White House) “obstructed our investigation”
  • The Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission (John Farmer) – who led the 9/11 staff’s inquiry – said “At some level of the government, at some point in time…there was an agreement not to tell the truth about what happened“. He also said “I was shocked at how different the truth was from the way it was described …. The tapes told a radically different story from what had been told to us and the public for two years…. This is not spin. This is not true.”

No wonder the Co-Chair of the congressional investigation into 9/11 – Bob Graham – and 9/11 Commissioner and former Senator Bob Kerrey are calling for either a “PERMANENT 9/11 commission” or a new 9/11 investigation to get to the bottom of it.

Some examples of obstruction of justice into the 9/11 investigation include:

  • An FBI informant hosted and rented a room to two hijackers in 2000. Specifically, investigators for the Congressional Joint Inquiry discovered that an FBI informant had hosted and even rented a room to two hijackers in 2000 and that, when the Inquiry sought to interview the informant, the FBI refused outright, and then hid him in an unknown location, and that a high-level FBI official stated these blocking maneuvers were undertaken under orders from the White House. As the New York Times notes:

Senator Bob Graham, the Florida Democrat who is a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, accused the White House on Tuesday of covering up evidence ….The accusation stems from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s refusal to allow investigators for a Congressional inquiry and the independent Sept. 11 commission to interview an informant, Abdussattar Shaikh, who had been the landlord in San Diego of two Sept. 11 hijackers.

  • The chairs of both the 9/11 Commission and the Official Congressional Inquiry into 9/11 said that Soviet-style government “minders” obstructed the investigation into 9/11 by intimidating witnesses (and see this)
  • The 9/11 Commissioners concluded that officials from the Pentagon lied to the Commission, and considered recommending criminal charges for such false statements
  • As reported by ACLU, FireDogLake, RawStory and many others, declassified documents shows that Senior Bush administration officials sternly cautioned the 9/11 Commission against probing too deeply into the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001

Both the 9/11 Commission Investigation and 9/11 Trials Were Based on Unreliable Evidence Produced by Torture

The CIA videotaped the interrogation of 9/11 suspects, falsely told the 9/11 Commission that there were no videotapes or other records of the interrogations, and then illegally destroyed all of the tapes and transcripts of the interrogations.

9/11 Commission co-chairs Thomas Keane and Lee Hamilton wrote:

Those who knew about those videotapes — and did not tell us about them — obstructed our investigation.

The chief lawyer for Guantanamo litigation – Vijay Padmanabhan – said that torture of 9/11 suspects was widespread.

And Susan J. Crawford – the senior Pentagon official overseeing the military commissions at Guantánamo told Bob Woodward:

We tortured Qahtani. His treatment met the legal definition of torture.

Indeed, some of the main sources of information were tortured right up to the point of death.

Moreover, the type of torture used by the U.S. on the Guantanamo suspects is of a special type. Senator Levin revealed that the the U.S. used Communist torture techniques specifically aimed at creating false confessions. (and see this, this, this and this).

And according to NBC News:

  • Much of the 9/11 Commission Report was based upon the testimony of people who were tortured
  • At least four of the people whose interrogation figured in the 9/11 Commission Report have claimed that they told interrogators information as a way to stop being “tortured”
  • One of the Commission’s main sources of information was tortured until he agreed to sign a confession that he was NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO READ
  • The 9/11 Commission itself doubted the accuracy of the torture confessions, and yet kept their doubts to themselves

If the 9/11 Commissioners themselves doubt the information from the government, why should we believe it?

Great review of the farcical 9/11 (c)o(m)mission!

but wait - there's more:

*Former Sen. Tom Daschle has said that Vice President Cheney requested him that there be no investigation into the 9/11 attacks.

*"There's something very sinister going on here... something desperately wrong... This involved what is right now the covering up of information that led to the deaths of 3,000 people". Rep. Curt Weldon
An infuriated Weldon also stated, “I am appalled that the DoD IG would expect the American people to actually consider this a full and thorough investigation”.

*"[NORAD] lied to the American people, they lied to Congress and they lied to your 9/11 Commission...the most gross incompetence and dereliction of responsibility and negligence". Sen. Mark Dayton, Member, Senate Committee on Armed Services and Homeland Security.

* "...the [9/11] investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation". Rep. Ron Paul, Vice Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee.

* "We purposely put together a staff that had, in a way, conflicts of interests". 9/11 Commissioner John Lehman

* Former Director of the FBI, Louis Freeh: "9/11 Commission findings.... raises serious challenges to the commission's credibility and, if the facts prove out, might just render the Commission historically insignificant itself".

* A document recently discovered in the National Archives shows that, in a memo to the 9/11 Commission’s chairman and vice-chairman on false statements made by NORAD and FAA officials about the failure of US air defenses, the commission’s Executive Director Philip Zelikow failed to mention the possibility of a criminal referral. This supports allegations that Zelikow “buried” the option of a criminal referral by the commission to the Justice Department for a perjury investigation.

Getting past the barriers

There is plenty of justification for a new investigation. Thank you to everyone who has spent hour after hour documenting and defining the problem. This is extremely important. But, are we now at the point of suffering from analysis paralysis? How can we get to the solution?

In an attempt to determine who is responsible to carry out the laws of our land, I searched that. Here is what I found so far:

http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/codification/executive-order/12333.html

I searched “what is the job description of the attorney general of the US?”

http://www.justice.gov/jmd/organization-mission-and-functions-manual-attorney-general.

This was not much help to me. I was trying to get an answer to “Who is charged with initiating a true, thorough, real scientific investigation of the largest crime committed in the history of our country?” Seems to me like a legitimate starting point. Who isn’t doing their job?

Time to get back to the basics. Who has the responsibility to initiate an investigation of crimes committed against the US and it’s citizens? Help me out here. Laws were broken on 9/11. There must be a law against flying planes into buildings and killing over 3,000 people, including police and firemen. There must be a law against blowing up a building. The more I think about it, the more I don’t understand and the more answers that are required. There were admitted lies to go to war. Torture is illegal. Attorney General Holder is very upset about the crimes in Ferguson, MO. He says “Disgusting, repugnant, cowardly…” I agree. So were the crimes of 9/11. What can we do as citizens to require our law enforcement officials get to the bottom of this and hold all the criminals accountable? We need to get past the barriers that have been set up. Please share your thoughts.

" How can we get to the solution?" partial answer

Thinker wrote: " How can we get to the solution?"

Part of the solution becomes "recruitment". That is, build an army...gain as many supporters as we can.

You know... a "want ad" like "Help wanted. Incredible workload, tough hours, no pay, almost insurmountable odds." (Being facetious)

After all, thousands of supporters or an army of 9/11 Truthers doesn't tax our budget of zero. No one gets paid in dollars. Just in satisfaction for doing what is right.

The real job is to keep getting the word out.
Educating people.
Telling people.

This is how we build our ranks. This is how we build an army.

ACTION (not just pretty thoughts).

This is part of the solution.

We are all one man activists

Great points Tom and might I add it's not all just standing on street corners holding signs or handing out information that someone will toss away when they turn the corner. By doing a little something everyday like wearing the t-shirts or the hats or the bumper stickers or leaving the 9/11 Investigator paper in the waiting areas of dealerships, auto repair shops, doctors offices as we go about our lives we begin to normalize the truth. Those who are on the fence, so to speak, will feel more confident in their journey to acceptance and give them the real sense that we're all in this together.

Together in Truth

What It MEANS To Be An American

http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2015/03/means-american.html

Many blowhards attack those who criticize powerful people in America.

They treat any questioning of “authority” as being “anti-American” or “anti-government”.

Indeed, according to Department of Defense training manuals, protest is “low-level terrorism”. And see this, this and this.  Similarly, an FBI memo labels peace protesters as “terrorists”.

But – as shown by the following quotes – those are anti-American thoughts.

Indeed, as Americans, we are very pro-America.

But we’re anti-CORRUPTION, anti-FASCISM and anti-PILLAGING AND PLUNDERING.  If that makes us controversial, so be it … we’re in very good company:

Who else is responsible? How do we get the job done?

March 20, 2015
I was very interested to hear Atty. General Holder say, in reference to Otis Byrd death by hanging in Port Gibson, Miss., we will determine what happened and determine if there was any violation of federal law.

The hanging is being investigated by the FBI, the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division and the United States Attorney's office as well as the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. These officials are on the scene to determine if it's a potential hate crime or other violation of federal law, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said. (Source ABC News)

The FBI's main goal is to protect and defend the United States, to uphold and enforce the criminal laws of the United States, and to provide leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners.[4] And Source-Wikipedia

Legal authority
The FBI's mandate is established in Title 28 of the United States Code (U.S. Code), Section 533, which authorizes the Attorney Generalto "appoint officials to detect and prosecute crimes against the United States."[14] Other federal statutes give the FBI the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes. The crux of calling for a new investigation is who is responsible for ordering it. It evidently is the Atty. General, Why doesn’t he order it? He is supposed to be smart enough to see that the first investigation was totally insufficient. This is a very meaningful topic, and I applaud 911blogger for their diligent pursuit of the truth.
Let's have a meaningful dialog and help each other think this through and get it resolved. Thank you
