Interesting...

I've noted that there is a downvoting trend with Alten-related 911 blogger posts... for example, someone just 1 voted the thread and then downvoted every comment... not that someone doesn't have the right to that opinion, I'd just like to know why it's being done... Is it just a distrust thing? Has he said something offensive? Doesn't endorse a particular theory enough/at all?

Steve Alten sure sounds genuine and legitimate with the ability to bring up pertinent facts in the midst of conversation. I perused his book in the bookstore and it impressed me as well. I was wondering if you knew the numbers of Jim Bohanon's approximate audience on CBS.

It's slightly off topic, but I love your Crooks and Liars posts. I was banned from there for talking about the Guiliani We Are Change Sabrina Rivero confrontation several months ago, but I still go there and seeing you inject a bit of reason (with more restraint than I had) is very heartening.

You should buy the book. Trust me, I've bought it and read it -

you will not be disappointed. This book you CAN judged by its cover (it is great). I know it is easy for internet-savvy people like us to get our media free through P2P file-sharing, rather than paying for it. Sacrifice is often a misused word these days, but buying The Shell Game is a genuine sacrifice, because by helping to push the novel up the bestseller lists, you will be giving up something for the greater good.

I don't know if anyone has gone on right wing radio as a guest and done what Alten's done. I have. It is nerve wracking.

The guy has Parkinson's Disease. The last thing people with Parkinson's need is stress. It makes them degenerate faster.

I think it's time for the 9/11 truth movement to stop critiquing Alten as if he were a suspect, and start getting behind his effort to expose the 9/11 lies, and drum up a mass demand for a new 9/11 investigation.

If we as 9/11 activists dedicated ourselves to driving his book up by spreading the world on democratic underground, and all the blogs, bulletin boards, etc. etc. and in every email we send out, and writing articles about all the various facts in "The Shell Game", we could drive it to #1.

If we did that, Alten would be able to go on many national programs and once and for all break 9/11 truth wide open.

He's linked his book to David Ray Griffin's new book on amazon.com, so anyone going to his book is directed to Griffin's book.

On his website, www.TheShellGame.net he has links to all the major 9/11 truth websites.

If you google "The Shell Game" www.TheShellGame.net comes up near the top.

We are in a position as a movement to do something huge, if we can finally for once, come together and support this effort, and not let ourselves be dissuaded and divided over nit picking differences.

I think Bohanon is classified as a "moderate" these days...

But then the center has drifted substantially, so he's only really moderate if you compare him to the Melanie Morgan/Hannity/Coulter type of programming. That said, it was not an entirely sympathetic response, but the objections were based on not knowing the subject material. For example, he Bohanon had heard of PNAC only in passing, and did not believe that much of the structural steel was sent overseas, to firms like China's Baosteel. Source: http://www.china.org.cn/english/2002/Jan/25776.htm He and a caller cited the construction of the Navy's amphibious assault ship U.S.S. New York as proof that the steel was not shipped off, but instead used for the ship. Both are true: In fact, 24 tons of scrap structural steel from the towers were used in the construction of the bow stem of this ship.

It wasn't a push over interview....

...but Steve Alten did well! Alten remained calm and refused to fluster when Bohannon or his callers challenged his facts by merely questioning them?

It was astounding how little Bohannon seemed aware of 9/11? Further, he seemed blissfully unnterested in learning more? His producer must have booked the interview and Bohannon didn't bother to prep?

It was defintely an audience just getting introduced to 9/11 Truth by Alten! I give him a solid thumbs up!

You can't expect much from an audience either, where a caller prefaces his remarks, "Something he said got my panties in a wad." Gee, they're dumb!

...don't believe them!

Excellent!

Great interview, and thanks for posting the shorter version.

Steve did a good job of answering Blowhardhannon's questions, even if he missed one or two things, like the fact that Rumsfeld was in the Pentagon, just on the opposite side of the building from where the "plane" hit. It's a very good example of the kind of questions all of us have to face, either privately or publicly. There is no point in preaching to the choir. It is precisely people like Blowhannon (of whom there are a great number) that we have to talk to. It is NOT easy.

It would be very useful to go through this interview point by point, and draft a more trenchant answer to each one of Blowhannon's points. We could do that right here. The more this is done, the better. Not just for Steve's benefit, but also for him, since he is the one in the public eye.

It is ALWAYS the case when you are disputing the "established" view of things that you have to be much more prepared than the opposition. For every point your opponent makes, with the full weight of "established" opinion behind him, you must make ten (or 100). That's just the way it is. It's a lot of work, exhausting, and repetitive, because you invariably have to make the same points over and over again. But all the more reason to be prepared. I'm not saying we should all read from a script, but to some extent that is what is required, because the questions are after all the same, so the answers can (and have to be) the same as well.

Plenty of these points came up in the interview, and there are more, but this is a good place to start. Better than the likes of O'Reilly/Hannity, because they don't even ask questions; they just call people names. Blowhannan was being relatively reasonable, in fact about as reasonable as we can expect, and these are precisely the people we need to address.

My paragon in these matters is David Griffin. If we could all answer as well he does to challenging questions, we would make great progress. Of course if we're lazy we can just say read his books (and others), but that doesn't cut it. We need to all BE David Griffin (or whoever your personal favorite is; I happen to think Griffin is the best), or at least at much like him as we can become.

Could someone please tell me why the majority of callers to

these right-wing shows talk with southern accents? Does being from the South lower their I.Q., or does their double-digit I.Q. cause people to talk that way? Thanks.
