Most of these people will be gone soon
And then who will we have?
I don't think they're being replaced by people with equivalent... whatever.
It seems to parallel the movie industry, where most of the old stars are gone and we have very few replacements that are up to snuff, with the majority being Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton types. (those are probably extreme comparisons, but it's not far off)
And you can make similar arguments for other areas, like nightly national news anchors, etc.
