Even among progressive news sources on the web, most sites will steer clear of 9/11 Truth. Huffington Post won't touch it. CommonDreams will occasionally flirt with the edges of "conspiracy theories"; Truthout has printed attacks on 9/11 Truth . OpEdNews is one of the few places where readers and authors who believe the outline of the Bush Administration's version of the events of 9/11 and those who think the Bush Administration was itself responsible for the attacks can hang out together and hold heated debates. (The Editorial Board here at OEN is also split. For disclosure, I've been the Board member leading the charge for more coverage.)

You may suspect the heavy hand of censorship, or you may think that these well-established liberal sources are sensibly avoiding speculation and superstition. But whatever your beliefs, you'd have to think that the Wall St Journal is the last place you'd look for revelations about a 9/11 cover-up.

John Perkins apparently reached a crisis point within himself which compelled him to write “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” in which he unmasks the collusion between U.S.Government, Military, and Financial forces in order to extend U.S. empire, and his role in that process.
What he chooses not to unmask is as revealing.

Perkins wants us to believe that he is truly sorry for what he did . . . that he now “gets it” and wants to be part of the solution. Let’s examine that contention:

If you know our history you know that we had to work in cooperation with CHP (California Highway Patrol) to be able to do our peaceful demonstrations for 9/11 Truth in peace. In October 2009 CHP shut down our demonstration with bullying tactics and no regard for us or the law. We met with the CHP captain in February 2010 to work out a deal whereby we could do what we wanted and they could be reassured that we were not breaking the law or doing anything dangerous. We first put that plan into place in April 2010. This is the 6th time we've gone freeway blogging with the CHP's cooperation. It has worked every time. We want to let you know that if you want to do a peaceful demonstration it is possible to have the cooperation of the police. It is very desirable too.

Sometimes, even 9/11 Truthers are duped by the media's deceptions. They do not realize how large our 9/11 Truth Movement has grown in recent years. A tremendous number of people are aware of 9/11 Truth. A tremendous number. This fact is not reported by the media.

The crowds at "Occupy Dallas" are proof to the growing number of people who are aware of 9/11 Truth.

Despite what the media reported, at its peak there were more than 1,000 people who showed up for "Occupy Dallas" on Thursday October 6th.

At around 11:20am, I repeatedly drove up and down the streets and had an opportunity to assess the size of the crowd as it was marching near and then finally to the noon destination of The Federal Reserve. Both sides of a very long city block were packed with people marching, and on the fringe areas many, many protesters were coming and going, or taking a drink/restroom break.

Before joining the crowd, I drove slowly by the crowds of protesters with a "9/11 Truth" sign in my car's side window. Even I was surprised as the segments in the lines of people repeatedly cheered and rallied for 9/11 Truth. All along the line of protesters, I repeatedly heard: "9/11 Truth!! Yea!!!" with people whooping cheers in support of 9/11 Truth. The impression was that the entire crowd of protesters was almost unanimous in support of 9/11 Truth. While I am sure that not everyone in the crowd was aware of 9/11 Truth, the image of the full group support will probably prompt many to do their homework.

Pivotal Moment in History Remains Unclear - Greg Ray

IT’S been said that nobody who researches the subject of the so-called September 11 terror attacks in the United States ever ends up
believing the official story about what happened.

If that’s true, it puts the event in the same class as the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Both events have been regarded as pivotal hinges of history, both are surrounded by intense controversy and neither are satisfactorily explained by official accounts.

After many years, enough of the raw emotion has gone out of the JFK killing for more people to be able to acknowledge that the official ‘‘lone gunman’’ story is rubbish. But even though that story is as demonstrably full of holes as the proverbial Swiss cheese, I’m not sure that a definitive truthful account will ever emerge.

A decade after the September 11 attacks it still isn’t fashionable in many circles to draw attention to the defects in the official account of circumstances surrounding the disaster. That’s a shame, because this event has had immense consequences.

On this sad anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in post-war history I am reminded of the prophetic words spoken by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his farewell address to the nation in 1961: “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist”.

Eisenhower was the supreme commander in western Europe who had led America to victory against one of the most evil regimes in history, a man who had witnessed the depths of human depravity, and wanted finally to warn us that the war machine which had been created to defend freedom in WWII could equally be used for the opposite purpose, and that it was up to the American people to guard against this possibility.

Eisenhower coined the phrase “military industrial complex” which became the catch-cry of the anti-war movement of the 1960s, describing an economic and political fusion of power involving armaments manufacturers, construction companies, banks, democratic governments and puppet dictatorships.

As Marine Major General Smedley Butler put it, “War is a Racket”. In his seminal book on the subject Butler declares, “I spent 33 years in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints.”

These and other observations about the racketeering, lying and theft that is the essence of war have informed many of us around the world who today call ourselves “9/11 truthers”.

Disconnecting the Dots: How CIA and FBI officials enabled 9/11 and evaded government investigations, by Kevin Fenton. Waltersville, OR: Trine Day, 2011. 416 pages.

“Enabling 9/11 was a job done at the office, with memos” (15).

It is a non-controversial fact that the NSA, CIA and FBI missed a number of opportunities to disrupt the 9/11 plot. Many, but not all, of these failures were documented by the four main investigations that dealt with pre-9/11 intelligence failures: those by the Congressional Joint Inquiry, the 9/11 Commission, the Department of Justice Inspector General and the CIA Inspector General. The best-known investigation, the 9/11 Commission, ultimately concluded that 9/11 was preceded by “four kinds of failures: in imagination, policy, capabilities, and management” (339). This is the narrative largely held to by mainstream politicians and media, but these explanations do not credibly account for what happened at the NSA, CIA and FBI in the years, months and weeks leading up to 9/11. This has been demonstrated by a number of researchers, but Kevin Fenton’s* book, Disconnecting the Dots, has the most comprehensive documentation and in-depth analysis to date. Primarily using the official reports, the available source records and some reporting by mainstream media and journalists, Fenton documents how specific CIA and FBI officials engaged in deliberate efforts to protect the 9/11 plot from discovery and disruption by FBI investigators, and that the most probable explanation is that this was done in order to enable the 9/11 attacks.

One of Fenton’s major strengths is that he limits himself to his area of expertise; Disconnecting the Dots is narrowly focused on the pre-9/11 intelligence failures and the official investigations of these failures. The book is a complex and dense compilation of interrelated names, dates, bits of information and sequences of events, a situation that is unavoidable due to the complex nature of the subject. Fortunately for the reader, Fenton’s style and presentation are simple and lucid, which helps make the complicated and often unclear nature of the subject more easily understood. Whenever possible, he names those responsible for the decisions and actions being examined, though this is sometimes impossible due to the limited amount of information that has been made public. Whenever a particularly complex set of issues or series of events have been examined in a chapter, Fenton provides a summary at the end of that chapter, and at a number of points in the book he summarizes what can be understood from the pattern of facts presented up to that point. His analysis considers the full range of available evidence, assesses the quality of individual pieces and does not go beyond the evidence. When he does draw conclusions they are generally conservative and understated, and he is careful to address other possible explanations for the evidence.

I can’t speak for the rest of you. I can only speak for myself. For almost 9 years now, I have done my very best to tell the next person about the lies of 9/11. To try and get the media to cover certain issues pertaining to 9/11, and to try and bring justice to the families that lost someone that day, and to the people of the world. Because as I’ve said several times, we were all attacked that day.

Almost every waking minute, I try and think about how to get a “foot in the door,” as far as getting the debate about 9/11 back on the table, so we can finally find out what happened that day and who was ultimately responsible. I’ve written article after article, created movie after movie, contacted journalist after journalist in the hopes of finally breaking through the wall that has been put up around the myth of 9/11. In one way or another, that is basically what everyone who advocates for this cause tries to do.

As 9/11’s tenth anniversary approaches, the issues surrounding that seminal event are just as relevant today and a lot more urgent. Despite the change of management, we still bomb, still rendition, still torture, still illegally wiretap, still detain indefinitely without habeas corpus and without counsel, among other international crimes. These days we can add a few more items to that list like irradiate children, feel up grandma at the airport, and throw people in jail for not paying their credit card bills. Another thing we still do in America: obstruct the truth when it conflicts with the official 9/11 storyline.
