9/11 'Truth' Grips Michael Moore

I've knocked a lot of people for their affinity for 9/11 conspiracy theories. Big names are no exception.

Here is a video of documentarian Michael Moore implying that 9/11 might have been an inside job, and that the World Trade Center might have been brought down by a controlled demolition.

"Well, I've had a number of firefighters tell me over the years, and since Fahrenheit 9/11, that they heard these explosions, that they believe there is much more to the story then we've been told. I don't think the official investigations have told us the complete truth. They haven't even told us half the truth," says Moore on the video (Hat Tip: Reason).

The videographers also try to get New York Press columnist Amy Goodman, who witness the collapse of WTC7, to join their cabal. She doesn't bite.

Moore says he plans to look into the 9/11 conspiracies in his own special way eventually, so you can debunk Moore's next documentary early by checking out Popular Mechanics. How about another video:

How convenient that Alberto Gonzales told the "truth" (supposedly) at the congressional hearing AFTER he was put under oath.

It's pretty funny that "protesters" sang Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" at the end.

And 50+ "I do not recall"'s.

It doesn't get any better than this. (except Wolfowitz's B.S. — and all of the others, and the future events to come that haven't come out yet)

When my paranoia kicks in, I can't help but wonder if the Virginia Tech shooting incident was an attempt to pull the media away from this. But it didn't last long enough. Perhaps someone miscalculated. Or perhaps it truly has no relationship.

Double-billing with Howard Zinn, who is a lukewarm supporter of 9/11 Truth. What better opportunity to expose Goodman's hypocrisy?

Amy Goodman has published a piece on AlterNet calling the trial of Australian David Hicks a "kangaroo court," but there was no similar condemnation just weeks ago when the alleged KSM confession was released. How is Hicks, according to the title of her essay, the "first victim" of Guantanamo? About Hicks, Goodman writes:

"The case of Hicks offers us a glimpse into the Kafkaesque netherworld of detentions, kidnappings, torture and show trials that is now, internationally, the shameful signature of the Bush administration. Hicks' passage through this sham process affords us all an opportunity to demand the closure of Guantanamo and an end to these heinous policies."

All of this is true. It is a "sham process" built on "heinous policies." But why no similar denunciation when KSM was allegedly dragged before a military tribunal? We have no reason to believe KSM is in custody, and if in custody we have no reason to believe his tortured confession. But clearly Goodman is emboldened because Hicks is white and not attached to 9/11 in any way. She writes:

This brief video opens with gray smoke mysteriously emanating from WTC-7. A fireman warns his comrades on what to do if WTC-7 comes down! A policeman then demonstrates this same type of foreknowledge! We are shown scores of people & reporters who have assembled behind police barricades about a half-mile north of WTC-7, obviously waiting for something to happen!

Among the crowd watching WTC-7 is gatekeeper Amy Goodman of "Democracy Now!". As WTC-7 begins to implode in a controlled demolition, Ms. Goodman yells, "Oh God", & she runs through the crowd! (I made 2 screenshots of Ms. Goodman that appear at the end of the clip.)

Who gave all these people the info that they should stand by & observe WTC-7??? Why has Ms. Goodman never revealed this shocking scene that she eye-witnessed??? Why did she wait in the street before 5:20 pm on 9/11, looking directly at WTC-7???

Ms. Goodman & others need to come forward immediately & answer the above questions!!!

Mike sent me the footage of his February 10 encounter with Amy Goodman at Florida Institute of Technology and asked me to edit it and get it online. The day after the event at FIT, Bob Bowman had circulated an email castigating Mike's actions that night and Mike felt that he had been misrepresented. He wanted his side of the story told and I promised I would help. So here's the video from that event, along with Mike's response to Dr. Bowman's letter.

The additional segment looks at Carl Cameron's piece a bit more, and Ketcham reveals that his FOX sources told him that Abe Foxman (ADL) put pressure on FOX's parent company, NEWSCORP to shut down Cameron's investigation.

Cheering Movers and Art Student Spies: Was Israel Tracking the Hijackers Before the 9/11 Attacks?

A new article in the newsletter Counterpunch examines unresolved questions over whether Israeli agents were tracking the 9/11 hijackers before September 11th. ABC’s 20/20, The Forward, and Salon.com have all covered the story. But where’s the follow up? We speak to the author of the article, Christopher Ketcham; Counterpunch editor Alexander Cockburn, and Marc Perelman, the Forward reporter who did one of the first reports on the story in 2002.

Were Israeli agents tracking the 9/11 hijackers before September 11th? In 2002, ABC’s 20/20 Salon.com and The Jewish newspaper The Forward all did this story. But where’s the follow up?

Freelance journalist Christopher Ketcham has just published a comprehensive piece on this story in the newsletter Counterpunch. The article highlights various interconnected stories: The five Israeli “movers” who witnesses say were cheering after the first plane struck the World Trade Center; the so-called Israeli art students who were living in concentrated areas where hijackers were living around the United States and how two of the hijackers ended up on the Watch List weeks before 9/11.

Christopher Ketcham, the author of the article, joins us on the line from upstate New York. Alexander Cockburn also joins us on the line. He is the editor of Couterpunch where the piece is published. And with us here in the firehouse studio is Marc Perelman he is the reporter who did one of the first reports on the story for The Forward in 2002.

This all started when I found out that Amy Goodman was having a book release party in NY City at Cooper Hall on 9/11. This was the same Cooper Hall that was hosting the 911 Truth Break Out on 9/10! This was also the same Amy Goodman of Democracy Now who had blatantly ignored 911 Truth for over five years, except for one interview with David Ray Griffin in 2003. An interview in which her suprise guest Chip Bartlet, openly attacked Dr. Griffin's personal credibility while avoiding the deeper questions about 911 that Dr. Griffin eloquently and clearly presented. In addition, Amy's co-host, Juan Gonzales had been one of the first and most out spoken reporters to investigate the horrible health effects and lies about the toxic dust from ground zero, yet he too had remained silent on the larger facts and questions presented by the 911 Truth movement.

These were the classic left gate keepers that Barrie Zwicker writes about in his new book "Towers of Deception". I wanted to know why they avoided 911 Truth and what the other 'progressive' volunteers and attendants at the event thought about 911 Truth and Democracy Now's handling or non-handling of the subject. I was determined to go and ask these questions.

I caught this interview with Senator Patrick Leahy on Friday regarding the approval of the new detainee bill. At one point in the show Amy Goodman asks Leahy how anything would be different if the democrats were back in power since some of them actually voted for the detainee bill. In response to this question Leahy points out that at least then questions would be rasied, and he made the following very interesting statement:

The two questions that the congress will not ask, because republicans wont allow it, is why did 9/11 happen on George Bush's watch when he had clear warnings that it was going to happen? Why did they allow it to happen? And secondly, when they had Osama Bin Laden cornered why didnt they get him? Had there been an independent congress, one that could ask questions these questions would have been asked years ago..

September 11, 2001 - five years after the attacks many people are asking questions about what happened on that day in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Websites, articles, books and documentaries have put forward a variety of alternate theories to the government's account of what happened. The most popular of these is a documentary called "Loose Change." Now, a book dealing with many of these theories has just been published by the magazine Popular Mechanics, it's called "Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up to the Facts." In a Democracy Now! national broadcast exclusive, we host a debate between the filmmakers of Loose Change and the editors of Popular Mechanics on 9/11. [includes rush transcript]

We continue with our 9/11 coverage today on this fifth anniversary of the attacks. Last week we heard from New Yorkers calling on the federal government to stop ignoring the health effects of the attacks on the World Trade Center. A major new study of 9/11 finds that nearly seven out of every ten first responders at Ground Zero now suffer from chronic lung ailments. We also spoke with a man whose brother was killed at the World Trade Center and is now spearheading a movement against President Bush's war on terror.
