The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

Article originally written in April 2007.

Since the publication of The Unearthing, the Truth Movement has continued to gain momentum, contrary to everything Truth deniers and obstructionists do and say to try and stop Truth's exponential surge. Like the snowball effect, the movement continues to grow in numbers, reaching unprecedented gains, seemingly catapulting expectations and offering proof that the more people see Truth, the greater the hunger for Justice and the search for Change. The Truth Movement has begun to reach critical mass, in spite of the system's hurdles and vast propaganda apparatus, in spite of its entrenched censorship and gatekeeping machinery.

The Psychological Trickery of 9/11

Like all of us, I have sometimes been surprised by what seemed to be irrational and overly emotional responses from close friends, respected colleagues or family members on the issue of 9/11 truth. After each such incident, I wondered how someone could appear to be so blind even to the big problems with some of the most basic undisputed facts of 9/11, like the fact that our servants in government have failed to give us an explanation for the collapse of WTC7 and the fact that the only arguments which even begin to address the concerns of citizens questioning the quality of our servants' work-product, The 9/11 Commission Report, were given to us by a privately owned magazine, and a cheesy one at that, instead of from our servants themselves. Why couldn't my loved ones see the elephants in the living room?

The Greatest Challenge

You know, it could be genetic...

Having argued with all sorts of people about 911, Iraq, the so-called Clash of Civilizations, etc. for several years, my working theory is that there are many people for which xenophobia and an us vs them mentality is the hardwired-by-nature, default mental setting. Probably this is an inheritance from humanity's tribal origins.

Even if it were definitively proven that 911 was an inside job, that the Clash of Civilizations is a figment, that the Iraq War was a geopolitical, aggressive war of choice - such people would simply keep grumbling to themselves about the middle eastern (or chinese, or russian) boogeyman.

I suspect that a good portion of that 30% of the electorate that comprises Bush's base has the gene, so to speak. Logic has no purchase with a hardwired brain. I think this is what Leo Strauss, the neocons' leading ideologue, meant when he stressed the importance of cultural myth-making - appealing to that knee-jerk, default mentality.
