Activists turn to Blackwater for Darfur security

By Harvey Morris at the United Nations

Published: June 19 2008 03:00

Mia Farrow, the actress and activist, has asked Blackwater, the US private security company active in Iraq, for help in Darfur after becoming frustrated by the stalled deployment of a United Nations peacekeeping force.

Ms Farrow said she had approached Erik Prince, founder and owner of Blackwater, to discuss whether a military role was either feasible or desirable.

She acknowledged that many people might have reservations about Blackwater being involved in Darfur - the company's men were involved in the fatal shooting of 17 Iraqi civilians last September - but said the threat of violence to refugees meant all options had to be explored.

"The people in the camps would say 'we don't care whether it's Blackwater, any-water, as long as they help us'," she told the Financial Times.

Mr Prince hasraised the possibility of a role in Darfur for security companies.

Harry Belafonte questions 911

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before. It's from the Black State of the Union Feb 25, 2006. Typically inspired speech by Belafonte in which he broadens the definition of "terrorism" and wonders aloud whether Bin Laden was responsible for 911.

NFL great Mark Stepnoski talks about 9/11

Mark Stepnoski gained fame as a lineman with the Dallas Cowboys, and was with that team for two superbowl wins. In an interview in today's Erie Times News, Stepnoski gives some reasons for his interest in the 9/11 truth movement:

Q. Anything else you want people to know?

A. Well, you asked. I've got a lot of things I like to do, I read a lot and travel and all that. I don't even know if you want to get into this, since it's a little bit political in tone. But I'm really interested now in the things the 9/11 truth movement is doing. I guess I could spend a lot time talking about that and cover all kinds of policies and statistics, but I don't know how much people want to know.

Buycott

Alex Jones and PrisonPlanet say there are HUGE celebrities -- including "major top bracket hip-hop superstars and vocalists/guitarists whose hits span back decades" -- who know 9/11 was an inside job, but are afraid to come forward out of fear that it will wreck their career.

Here's the plan.

There are millions of 9/11 truthers. Let's all pledge to buy at least 1 record of each star that comes out publicly for 9/11 truth. I'm starting right now. I pledge to buy 2 albums of any star who comes out for the truth, even if I don't like that star or his or her style of music.

Given that there are millions of us, and given that Alex Jones points out that celebrities can give a HUGE boost to 9/11 truth by reaching people who would never be reached by a scientist or former military official who has spoken out for 9/11 truth, this is important, people.
