CIA

ex-CIA Director Robert Gates, now Secretary of Defense, also was lobbyist for the Election Industry

Some people have already shed some light on 74yr-old Rumsfeld's successor, Robert Gates (63 yrs). Who used to be the CIA director when George W. Bush's father was president. Who is a close friend to the Bush family since decades.

But did you know this? Robert Gates...

....was on the board of directors of VoteHere, a strange little company that was the biggest elections industry lobbyist for the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). VoteHere spent more money than ES&S, Diebold, and Sequoia combined to help ram HAVA through. And HAVA, of course, was a bill sponsored by by convicted Abramoff pal Bob Ney and K-street lobbyist buddy Steny Hoyer. HAVA put electronic voting on steroids."

Strange, how close all these threads run to each other...

Def. Sec. Nominee: Arming Afghan Mujahhadin was "most consequential" of CIA's "important successes"

It is official, Donald Rumsfeld is out and former CIA Director Robert Gates, if confirmed, will be in as the new Defense Secretary. As usual, the more you read, the worse it get...

In November of 1999, Mr. Gates openly expressed his satisfaction with the arming of the Afghan Mujahhadin during the 1980s, a covert policy that gave rise to 'al-Qaeda'.

At a Texas A&M University Dinner, Mr. Gates stated the following:

"Operationally, CIA had important successes in covert action. Perhaps the most consequential of all was Afghanistan where CIA, with its management, funneled billions of dollars in supplies and weapons to the Mujahhadin, and the resistance was thus able to fight the vaunted Soviet army to a standoff and eventually force a political decision to withdraw."

To his credit, Gates does acknowledge that the "training and weapons we provided after the conflicts ended sometimes were put to unwelcome purposes and even used in actions hostile to US interests," but nonetheless, he states, "All in all, CIA uniquely among the world's intelligence services, endeavored to conduct its operations according to presidential directive under the rule of law and in every way possible consistent with American values. ... In sum, CIA in my view was remarkably successful".

The CIA -- 9/11 executor or just conspirator??

Cheney to Daschle: do not investigate! .. Of course Bush claims "higher interest" (national security). ***

In any case, Daschle now is a secret-bearer... Secret Weapons, Secret Plan, National Security. Daschle says: it is for that reason that the Intelligence Committee
is going to begin this effort, trying to limit the scope and the overall review of what happened,

I see! The Intelligence Committee ... i.e. Bob Graham and Porter Goss... the people's representative for CIA OVERSIGHT ....are assigned to prevent an investigation. But hello!

In August 2001 Goss, Senator Bob Graham (D-Fl.), and Senator Jon Kyl visited Islamabad, Pakistan. Meetings were held with President Pervez Musharraf and with Pakistan's military and intelligence officials including the head of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) General Mahmoud Ahmad,......... On the morning 11 September, 2001, Goss and Graham were having breakfast with General Ahmad ....

Subscribers on YouTube.com

Does anyone in this community know about YouTube subscribers? I have been getting attention from several shows I did on my public access TV show, "Farther Down the Rabbit Hole" where I pointed out that at a hacker's conference last summer (HOPE) that Robert Steele who poses as an "ex" CIA agent is probably still one as he was so weak about the difference between LIHOP and MIHOP.

Some of my responses are positive and some negative. Upon reviewing the accounts of the various commentors to get to know them better and thus be better able to take in what they are saying I came across "ProfiteerinChief" (it was a favorite of a particularily puzzling commentor) "ProfiteerinChief" has an impressive "Bombshells Expose Bush" series that uses WWII style poster girls in a sensitive and rhymthic manner alongside all this ugly information about the no-bid contract stuff going on in Iraq. I wrote him, complimented his work, and received back a very nice response. Needless to say I was very flattered when I discovered he had subscribed to my channel (I have over 50 of my Manhattan Neighborhood Network Public Access TV shows up).

However upon looking at his channel (account) I was astonished that instead of the usual 20 or even 50 possibly 100 channels that he listens to....it was an astonishing 5747!!!! I did n't feel so flattered anymore although I can't believe that in between watching all those channels he had any time to drop me the line he did let alone edit all the great stuff he puts out. I had been encouraging him to "Go Deeper" with his material and read Webster Tarpley.....

Fighting terror with torture: As Bush determines what is acceptable, Israel’s decisions offer insight.

Mohammed Barghouthi, a Palestinian Authority official interrogated by Israel for several weeks last summer, demonstrates the position he was held in during questioning.

JERUSALEM | Long before the Bush administration launched its war on terrorism, opened secret detention centers or debated the wisdom of harsh interrogation techniques, Israel wrestled with similar questions about protecting itself.

President Bush soon must prepare an executive order that will outline what methods the CIA can use under a law signed last week. Backers of the law contend that their measure will prevent the use of the most contentious methods, such as “water-boarding.” But the law gives the president broad discretion to decide what tactics to approve, and Israel’s experience could provide guidance.

Since Israel’s Supreme Court curbed the use of extreme techniques in 1999, human rights studies suggest that interrogators are relying more on psychological tricks, informants and electronic surveillance to solicit information.

Why Didn’t the US Warn Us about the 9/11 Terrorists?

I have tried for years to get Antiwar.com to cover 9/11 Truth - to no avail.

In fact, one of their regular contributors - Paul Craig Roberts - is regularly censored on the topic. It appears they will only publish his editorials if they are non-9/11 related.

But, with the recent revelations from Bob Woodward's new book, it appears that Antiwar. com is beginning to nibble at the edges of LIHOP (Let It Happen On Purpose).

This blog (reproduced on Antiwar.com's front page) is somewhat promising.

http://www.antiwar.com/blog/2006/10/22/sensitive-intelligence/

We should all take the time to drop a few emails to Antiwar.com encouraging them to continue to cover this topic. But, please, try to keep your emails polite and non-accusatory. Simply thank them - and ask them if they could kindly explore this topic further.

Former CIA Officer Robert Steele Reviews Tarpley's 'Synthetic Terror'

Amazon's #1 Non-fiction Reviewer: Tarpley's 9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in USA is "strongest of the 770+ books I have reviewed"

Progressive Press announced that its "9/11 Synthetic Terror" has just been cited as the best non-fiction book ever by Amazon's top non-fiction book reviewer, intelligence professional Robert Steele, in a 5-star review at http://www.amazon.com/dp/0930852370 .

Progressive specializes in books that contend 9/11 was an "inside job." Publisher John Leonard says "it's a coup to have Steele with us on this. Here you have a level-headed, respected insider, lifelong Republican, veteran spy, and he's breaking the taboos. It's a great tribute and a vindication of the work we put into 9/11 Synthetic Terror."

Steele's statement that 9/11 was a "US-based conspiracy" may be a first coming from a senior US intelligence community figure. He came to this conclusion "with great sadness" after reading "9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in USA," which he praises as "without question, the most important modern reference on state-sponsored terrorism."

From wikipedia:

Robert David Steele Vivas (b. July 16, 1952 New York City), is a former Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer for twenty years and was the second-ranking civilian (GS-14) in U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence from 1988-1992. Steele is a former clandestine services case officer Central Intelligence Agency.[1] He is the founder and CEO of OSS.Net, Inc. as well as the Golden Candle Society.[2] Steele also was a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Marine Corps University in the mid-1990's.

From Strategic Strategy Research Military site:

ROBERT D. STEELE is a retired Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer. He is the founder and president of Open Source Solutions, Inc., and is an acknowledged expert on computer and information vulnerabilities. Mr. Steele holds graduate degrees in International Relations and Public Administration from Leigh University and the University of Oklahoma. He has also earned certificates in Intelligence Policy from Harvard University and in Defense Studies from the Naval War College.

From Steele's Amazon review:

It is with great sadness that I conclude that this book is the strongest of the 770+ books I have reviewed here at Amazon, almost all non-fiction. I am forced to conclude that 9/11 was at a minimum allowed to happen as a pretext for war (see my review of Jim Bamford's "Pretext for War"), and I am forced to conclude that there is sufficient evidence to indict (not necessarily convict) Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others of a neo-conservative neo-Nazi coup d'etat and kick-off of the clash of civilizations (see my review of "Crossing the Rubicon" as well as "State of Denial"). Most fascinatingly, the author links Samuel Huntington, author of "Clash of Civilizations" with Leo Strauss, the connecting rod between Nazi fascists and the neo-cons.

This is, without question, the most important modern reference on state-sponsored terrorism, and also the reference that most pointedly suggests that select rogue elements within the US Government, most likely led by Dick Cheney with the assistance of George Tenet, Buzzy Kronguard, and others close to the Wall Street gangs, are the most guilty of state-sponsored terrorism.

Big congrats to Webster Tarpley for this incredible review!

Allegations worthy of consideration ...

Ex-CIA Analyst Bill Christison Talks About How He Came To Question 9/11 - Audio Download

The Case For Intellectual Integrity - electricpolitics.com

It would be refreshing to find somebody who doesn't agree with 9/11 conspiracy theories (so-called) who was willing to debate them in a civil way. And I don't mean the editors of Popular Mechanics, either. Perhaps the civil ones are changing their minds? One such is Bill Christison, the distinguished former CIA analyst and popular author of progressive political essays. Within the past year Bill has changed his mind about 9/11, from rejecting conspiracy theories outright to thinking that the standard story is not what it seems. In this conversation we talk a lot about what happens when one rethinks something like 9/11, less about the facts in question. I'm very grateful to Bill for talking with me and I hope this conversation helps those who are still sorting things out. Runtime of about an hour and nineteen minutes.

Thanks Carol for the heads up!

A Question of 'Compromise'

McCain's deal on prisoners means White House lawlessness rolls on

by Nat Hentoff October 1st, 2006 9:18 PM

Our government is the potent, omnipresent teacher of the whole people by its example. . . . If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for the law. —Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, dissenting in the first wiretap case, Olmstead v. U.S., 1928

The civil war between three Republican senators and the president over his treatment of imprisoned suspected terrorists has resulted in a public break with George W. Bush's own former secretary of state, Colin Powell. But in all these stories about Powell's mutiny, I've seen no mention of an angry, prophetic memorandum he wrote on January 25, 2002, protesting the administration's pending decision to scrap the Geneva Conventions on the treatment of prisoners in Afghanistan.

DCI Tenet Lied Under Oath About CIA Knowledge of Hijackers

The CIA freely admits that it followed American 77 hijackers Khalid Al Mihdhar and Nawaf Al Hazmi, as well as Nawaf's brother Salem, halfway around Asia in January 2000. However, it claims to have lost them in Thailand on 8 January 2000, one week before they entered the US. Allegedly, Thai intelligence didn't notify the CIA that Al Hazmi had entered the US until 5 March 2000, when a cable was drafted to this effect and sent to Langley.

In testimony before the joint House and Senate select intelligence committee investigating the Sept. 11 attacks CIA Director George Tenet claimed that:
“I know that nobody read that cable”; and
“Nobody read that cable in the March timeframe.”

However, the CIA's Office of Inspector General later drafted a report on the CIA's performance before 9/11 and some passages of it were redacted and used in evidence at the trial of Zacarias Moussaoui. Here's the relevant one:
“... in early 2000, numerous CIA officers in different divisions accessed one or more operational documents that reported Khalid al-Mihdhar's passport contained a multiple entry visa for the United States and that Nawaf al-Hazmi had departed Thailand on a flight bound for Los Angeles. Most of the officers who accessed the documents were in the Counterterrorism Division at that time.”

AND THE 9/11 PROPAGANDA

OF POPULAR MECHANICS

A brutal purge of the senior staff at Popular Mechanics preceded the publication of last month's scandalous propaganda piece about 9/11. Pulling the strings is the grand dame of Hearst Magazines and behind the scene is her obscure husband a veteran propaganda expert and former special assistant to the director of the C.I.A.

Does The Le Figaro Bin Laden/CIA/Hospital Article Still Exist?

I went to the Le Figaro site to check the archives for the article on the CIA visiting Bin Laden in the American Hospital in Dubai (that has been continually referenced). I wanted to see the original source.... but no luck. Try for yourself here.

The closest to the original article I could find was this smh.com.au article, published 10/31/01.

Does anyone know how to find the original Le Figaro article?

President Thanks CIA

Remarks by the President to Employees of the CIA

Langley, Virginia

1:23 PM EDT

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you all very much. Well, George (Tenet), thank you very much, and thanks for inviting me back. (Laughter.) There is no question that I am in the hall of patriots, and I've come to say a couple of things to you.

First, thank you for your hard work. You know, George and I have been spending a lot of quality time together. (Laughter.)

There's a reason. I've got a lot of confidence in him, and I've got a lot of confidence in the CIA. (Applause.)

And so should America.
