WTC panel agrees that toxic substances from 9/11 causes cancer

For the first time, WTC rescue heroes diagnosed with cancer will be able to collect benefits from the Victims Compensation Fund (VCF). On Wednesday, the World Trade Center Scientific Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) voted to recommend a list of different cancers to be added under the Zadroga Act.

9/11 Zadroga Health Care Law Goes Into Effect

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dailypolitics/2011/07/911-zadroga-health-care-law-goes-into-effect

It took years of lobbying and partisan bickering, but the 9/11 Zadroga Act to help ailing Ground Zero responders finally took effect today.

The law provides $4.3 billion in guaranteed federal funding to cover health costs and financial compensation for emergency responders, recovery workers, volunteers, and residents who were affected by the attacks almost 10 years ago.

Advocates celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting against a backdrop of Star Spangled Banners at Mount Sinai’s 9/11 health clinic this morning.

National and city pols were also on hand, including Mayor Bloomberg, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and U.S. Reps. Jerrold Nadler, Charlie Rangel, and Carolyn Maloney.

Death Toll In Sept. 11 Attacks Rises By 1

NPR reports that the official death toll from 9/11 has been raised by 1, bringing the number to 2,753. The addition to the number of people who were murdered without a proper investigation on 9/11 came from a Manhattan worker, who inhaled the initial dust cloud (like thousands of other people) of the destroyed World Trade Center.

Last year, it was reported that upwards of 900 people had already died from 9/11 related illnesses. NY 1 reported last year:

Rodriguez, of Lindenhurst, L.I., the mother of two young boys, is among nearly 900 first responders to have died from an array of ailments traced to their service at the smoldering World Trade Center.

The clean-up of the WTC site was a disaster in many ways: From hasty removal of crime scene evidence to lies from the EPA and other agencies. Here is a clip from a report at World for 9/11 Truth:

Nearly 100,000 first responders have been exposed to toxic elements such as Asbestos and were not instructed to wear any special equipment to avoid medical problems. In fact, as demonstrated in the shocking documentary Dust to Dust: the Health Effects of 9/11, the EPA and the U.S. Government told them the air was safe to breathe.

Should 9/11 First Responders Bill be extended beyond 2016?

Just this past December, the “9/11 First Responders Bill” was finally pushed through in Congress. The bill will look to provide medical care and monitoring for those who worked on ground zero and those who were living and working nearby the attacks. President Obama claimed it to be a great day by claiming “I believe this is a critical step for those who continue to bear the physical scars of those attacks.” Certainly getting the bill through is a huge step for those affected in or around ground zero. Even with this first step being taken, there are still some qualifications that could possibly be improved to help the bill cover the needs for those affected for the future.

SIR.

With regard your paper "Conspiracy Theories" [University of Chicago Law School Law & Economics Research Paper Series #387],
In which you discuss the Mental Health of citizens seriously investigating alternative 9/11 Conspiracy Theory, [ie:those 'other than' the 911 Commission Report Theory]
as examples of 'Crippled Thinking' or 'Crippled Epistemology'.

Incumbent on you, sir, as co-author of the above; since the matter so important to our mental Health; would be to revisit the central premis of your paper - that the KSM 19-hijacker Commission Theory is the ONLY permissible account - given the TESTIMONY of Former FBI Language Specialist Behrooz Sarshar this January 2011 regarding his CENSORED testimony to the 911 Commission, that FBI fore-knowledge of the attack was well established and understood.

Ron Paul and 159 Congress People Vote Against Healthcare for Sick 9/11 Heroes

The following names are the people in Congress that voted AGAINST helping the 9/11 1st Responders with health care. There are about 900 dead responders since the attacks 9 years ago, and tens of thousands more sick and dying. When everybody was running away from Ground Zero, these people were running in to save as many people as they can. The people on this list feel that we should not help them. Please adjust your voter ballots accordingly in November.

Reports on the Rally/Campaign to Rehire John Howard, WTC Health Czar

Pols, advocates urge rehiring of WTC health czar
The Associated Press
February 24, 2009
New York lawmakers and Sept. 11 health advocates urged President Barack Obama yesterday to rehire a World Trade Center health czar who was let go last year by the Bush administration.

John Howard's six-year term as director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health expired last July and he was not asked to stay on. Since 2006 he was the government's point person for post-9/11 illness. He often found himself at odds with the Bush administration in his advocacy for a federal program to monitor and treat thousands who said they were sickened by exposure to toxic dust.

Sept. 11 health advocates had said his departure could jeopardize future funding.

"The Bush administration made a good decision in appointing Dr. Howard and a typically bad move in letting him go," Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan) said.

The White House didn't immediately comment.

Study: 70K may suffer post-9/11 stress disorder

By VERENA DOBNIK – 2 hours ago

NEW YORK (AP) — New data from a public health registry that tracks the health effects of 9/11 suggest that as many as 70,000 people may have developed post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the terrorist attacks.

The estimate, released Wednesday by New York City's Department of Health, is based on an analysis of the health of 71,437 people who enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Registry. They agreed to be tracked for up to 20 years after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and the study was based on answers they volunteered about their health two and three years after the attack.

Of the estimated 400,000 people believed to have been heavily exposed to pollution from the disaster, data suggests that 35,000 to 70,000 people developed PTSD and 3,800 to 12,600 may have developed asthma, city health officials said.

They include rescue and recovery workers, lower Manhattan residents, area workers, commuters and passers-by.

RESPOND - A Video for First Responders

A few months ago, some conference calls were done wherein several activists from across North America gathered for an hour a week to discuss strategies on how to up the level of awareness and to 'take it to the police/military/firefighters/etc'

Here's the video that the Ottawa group came up with. Take it, burn it, and show it.

http://www.departure-productions.com/respond/

Respond is a short, 7 minute compilation which depicts the health effects of the toxic dust from the World Trade Center collapse on 9/11 first responders. These heroes volunteered their time after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, and are now paying the ultimate price.

Please feel free to download a DVD image of this video, burn it to disc, and show first responders in your area what their brothers and sisters in New York are going through.

This video was edited using footage from Dust To Dust: The Health Effects of 9/11 and The 9/11 Chronicles Part 1: Truth Rising. The footage was not used with permission, and this video is not for sale. If you have paid money for this video, please report the pirate you bought it from.

The creators of this video are not associated with the Fealgood Foundation in any way, but we appreciate their fine efforts, and we encourage you to find a way to support them and the 9/11 first responders who are suffering.

EPA on Trial

by Joel Bleifuss

For more than six years, Hugh Kaufman has been battling the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), his employer for 37 years, with a whistleblower lawsuit. He has been aided by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), a D.C.-based group that represents workers who expose corruption in agencies that oversee environmental quality and public health.

“We get people calling us all the time, but in this administration, more than ever,” says Paula Dinerstein, PEER senior counsel.

In June, Kaufman made his case before a Department of Labor administrative law judge, testifying that former EPA head Christine Todd Whitman closed down the agency’s National Ombudsman Office in an effort to stop investigations that Kaufman was conducting.

Ex-Bush's Health Chief's Firm Wins Sept. 11 Work [Looks Like A Set-up to Deny Benefits to 1st Responders]

As President Bush's health chief, Tommy Thompson was criticized for not doing enough to help workers exposed to toxic debris from the Sept. 11 attacks at the World Trade Center.

Now, a company he leads has won a $11 million contract to treat some of those workers who responded to New York's ground zero....
