Framing Pakistan

December 1, 2008
Framing Pakistan.

I have mentioned it and/or alluded to it in most of my posts dealing with Iran, namely that Iran will be used by the US and its allies to stir sectarianism wherever a Shiite minority exists. I mentioned Lebanon, Bahrain, Kuwait, Pakistan, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

I have come to this conclusion after close study of the Iraqi "experiment".

Already a year ago, I have been saying that Pakistan is next on the list. I maintain what I said.

The Mumbai attacks add an extra confirmation to my hypothesis.

The first thing the Western Media and the Indian government did, while the fights were still raging, was to point an accusatory finger at Pakistan - including guess who ? Patrick Cockburn, the "firebrand" Mullah Sadr, lover.

For those of you who have been following the news, Pakistan for the past 4 months or so has witnessed an escalation of US air force attacks on it, in particular in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan, under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

Pakistan closes ISI political wing

Pakistan closes ISI political wing

Islamabad, Nov 27 (IANS) Pakistan has closed the political wing of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Online news agency reported Thursday.

“The political wing of ISI has been closed,” a statement issued by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s office said late Wednesday night.

The prime minister hoped the move “would further improve the effectiveness of ISI as one of the premier institutions of the national security apparatus of the country”, said the statement.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday confirmed media reports that the political wing of the ISI had been disbanded, describing it as a positive development.

A number of retired ISI officials have admitted in recent media interviews that the agency had a role in influencing several elections in recent years, Online said.

The "War on Terror" Fraud, and the Washington Post's "New Approach"

Hand-Off to Obama?

Crimes of the State

The Washington Post, today,1 has done a pretty good job of encapsulating the fraudulent "war on terrorism" without actually calling it a fraud. One would have to be in-the-know to understand the implications, but they are there if one is willing to study the article.

"There has been no confirmed trace of bin Laden since he narrowly escaped from the CIA and the U.S. military after the battle near Tora Bora, Afghanistan, in December 2001, according to U.S., Pakistani and European officials."

That's a pretty strong statement. No "trace?"

Pakistani Intelligence Terrorism Exposed in Mainstream Media

[NOTE: In a criminal lapse of journalistic memory, these revelations are presented as something new. No history of Pakistani ISI sponsorship of terrorist attacks is given to the readers. No ties to 9/11, to Pakistani ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad, or other relevant information is provided.

Need I remind readers (as NY Times does not) that we've been shovelling several BILLION dollars per year over to the Pakistan regime since 9/11/01, basically to maintain this status quo situation (protecting terrorists so as to provide an endless, open-ended "war on terror" myth).

Too many low level US operatives found out about this blatant Pakistani terror attack, and monumentally stupid act of war against India, in order to keep it quiet and under wraps.]

Oct. 9, 2001: The Day it all Fell Apart

Reading the new history commons page on a Justice Department "stand down" order to the FBI -- I saw quite a coincidence:

"October 9, 2001: FBI Agents Told to Curtail 9/11 Investigation and Focus on Preventing Future Attacks"

What else happened on October 9?

What prompted this outrageous "stand down" order across the FBI?

From my article:

October 6-8, 2001:

Maria Ressa of CNN reports that 9/11 paymaster Mustafa Ahmad is an alias for a "Sheikh Syed", a 28-year old Pakistani former student at the London School of Economics who was released from an Indian prison in 1999 after being bartered for hostages taken in an airline hijacking that was "strikingly similar to the four hijackings carried out on September 11." Ressa also links "Syed" (hereafter known as Omar Saeed) to the October 1 attack on the Kashmiri legislature.

The invasion of Afghanistan begins.

Pakistani ISI General Mahmud Ahmad (not to be confused with the 9/11 paymaster alias "Mustafa Ahmad") is suddenly dismissed by Pakistani President Musharraf.

Additions to the 9/11 Timeline as of July 6, 2008

The majority of new entries this week deal with Pakistan and its relations with al-Qaeda after 9/11. The Pakistani government allowed al-Qaeda and the Taliban to regroup in its tribal region, which was assisted by the US's failure to fund reform of Islamist education in Pakistan and to monitor Taliban strongholds. Suicide bombings dramatically increased in Afghanistan starting in 2004, partly because one top militant leader was allowed to operate openly in Pakistan, and a detainee released form Guantanamo became an important Taliban leader.

Pakistan, Day of 9/11, Londonistan – Additions to the 9/11 Timeline as of June 22, 2008

Many of the new entries this week deal with Pakistan. President Pervez Musharraf expressed his public support for the Taliban in May 2000, and the ISI then assisted an autumn offensive by the Taliban. After taking office, the Bush administration was slow to develop a new policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, and only gave Pakistan vague warnings about its links with Osama bin Laden three months before 9/11. After the attacks, Richard Armitage made his disputed "stone age" comment, but the ISI secretly advised the Taliban to resist the US-led invasion.

Sibel Edmonds Blows Open the Cover Up

Crimes of the State

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds has released some new information in The Sunday Times (UK--also posted to Alternet.org), and on her website. This should be required reading for every US citizen.

Sibel risks jail time (or worse) in order to make these highly disturbing allegations against high ranking US government officials. Sibel has been officially gagged by the Justice Department (sic) for several years.

Sibel also testified to the 9/11 Commission, but her allegations were ignored, and her testimony eliminated from their final report. In her open letter to Thomas Kean, the nominal head of the 9/11 Commission, Edmonds first made public her most shocking allegations:

Updated: ISI and The Wire Transfers of 9/11

Crimes of the State Blog
http://crimesofthestate.blogspot.com/
(Revised 5/22/07)

Many people don't understand or choose not to believe that evidence exists of multiple wire transfers in excess of $100,000 to alleged "lead hijacker" Mohammed Atta prior to 9/11, and that these wire transfers are linked to the then head of Pakistani intelligence (ISI). This has blatantly been covered up by the Bush regime, by the Congressrional Joint Inquiry, and by the 9/11 Commission, which this article will clearly show.

This is a complex area, and is clearly the subject of a vigorous disinformation campaign. Many aliases have appeared in US newspapers which don't correlate to the names given in previous reports regarding: just who IS this "Al Qaeda paymaster?" [1]

ISI not connected to Islam, but is connected to 9/11

Abid Ullah Jan has an interesting point of view in this article on recent CIA allegations agains the ISI.

To be fair, like the overall Pakistan military force, the much dreaded ISI has been used like a whore by the CIA in every possible way. At home, both the civilian and military dictators use the ISI as a draconian tool. But this is all that the ISI is: just a tool, without any strategic mission, vision or direction of its own.

and

In this backdrop, the March 2003 hearing of the U.S. Senate[1] was just another threat in the vast trap being laid for the Pakistani army for the next several years. Furthermore, ISI assets, Saeed Sheikh and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed were used in operation 9/11. The extent to which the ISI was dragged into the trap of 9/11 is not fully known. That, however, remains a time bomb for Pakistan. It didn’t get diffused with the “termination” of former ISI chief General Mahmood Ahmad. It can explode at any time the US decides to disarm and neutralise Pakistan like Iraq.

9/11 Press For Truth Accused of Spreading Disinformation

[NOTE: This is a full response to the recent blog entry accusing 9/11 Press For Truth of spreading disinformation via the ISI link to 9/11. Be sure to note that the intention of this thread is not to exchange insults or divide the ‘truth community’, but rather to inspire friendly debate, further analysis, and a better understanding of the issue at hand. 9/11 'paymaster' back in court, may be cleared of Pearl's death

9/11 'paymaster' back in court, may be cleared of Pearl's death
The American Monitor
Devlin Buckley, 12/14/06

After four and a half years of delays, a Pakistani court has once again resumed hearing the appeals of four men convicted for the kidnap and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

In 2002, the 9/11 ‘paymaster,’ Omar Sheikh, was sentenced to death for Pearl’s execution, while three others were sentenced to life in prison.

Omar, a suspected CIA asset who reportedly wired at least $100,000 to Mohammed Atta prior to 9/11, has never been charged for his alleged role in the terrorist attacks but has become infamous for his role in the Pearl case...

Pakistan, the CIA, and the 9/11 Paymaster

New article available at From The Wilderness regarding the alleged 9/11 'paymaster', Omar Sheikh, and his affiliations to Pakistani and Western intelligence agencies. FTW has made this article available to all nonsubscribers at my request. Short excerpt:

"...This suggests Pakistan is not only guilty of complicity in the 9/11 attacks, but is directly responsible for financing and coordinating the operation, which may explain why Musharraf chose to omit such pertinent information from his new book.

Moreover, there are several members of Musharraf’s own government, according to The Pittsburgh Tribune, who believe Omar Sheikh’s true power “comes not from the ISI, but from his connections with our own CIA.”21

Given Omar’s reported history, this certainly seems like a plausible explanation; and if true, it would establish a significant degree of U.S. government culpability for the 9/11 attacks. ..."

U.S. May Charge Alleged 9/11 Leader With The Death Of Daniel Pearl

McClatchy Newspapers

U.S. military officials intend to charge Guantanamo Bay captive Khalid Sheikh Mohammed with the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, according to a Time magazine report.

U.S. officials have identified Mohammed as the al Qaida mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and President Bush has said he's a likely candidate for a war-crimes trial.

But the Pentagon's chief war-crimes prosecutor told The Miami Herald on Friday that the Time report may be premature; prosecutors are still studying the case files of Mohammed and 13 other so-called high-value detainees who were turned over to the military by the CIA.

Captured in Pakistan in March 2003, Mohammed had been held in secret CIA detention until his Labor Day transfer to the Guantanamo detention center at the U.S. Navy base in southeast Cuba.
