JFK assassination: Family just yards from president's shooting never called to testify

They were so close that they saw the bullet shatter the President's skull - it's odd that they were never called to testify
For 50 years the piercing cries of Jackie Kennedy have never left Bill Newman.
As her husband lay collapsed in her lap fatally wounded, America’s First Lady screamed desperately: “Oh my God. No. They’ve shot Jack”.
Standing just 10 feet away, Bill could not have heard her words any clearer.
A clear majority of Americans still suspect there was a conspiracy behind President John F. Kennedy's assassination....
Poll: Belief in JFK Conspiracy Slipping Slightly
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: November 3, 2013 at 9:41 AM ET
as reported in The New York Times
A clear majority of Americans still suspect there was a conspiracy behind President John F. Kennedy's assassination, but the percentage who believe accused shooter Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone is at its highest level since the mid-1960s, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll.
According to the AP-GfK survey, conducted in mid-April, 59 percent of Americans think multiple people were involved in a conspiracy to kill the president, while 24 percent think Oswald acted alone, and 16 percent are unsure. A 2003 Gallup poll found that 75 percent of Americans felt there was a conspiracy.

November 22, 2013 will mark the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination, and significant information is still being suppressed. If certain elements with influence over the government have their way, this information will never be released.
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has created a "National Archives Open Government Idea Forum" at ideascale.com for the public to submit, comment on, and vote for ideas. One submission that is gaining popularity is for NARA to: "Create a JFK Records Declassification Project":
The National Archives should create a project to declassify remaining secret JFK assassination records before the 50th anniversary of that tragic event in 2013. The Archives recently established Berlin Wall and Pentagon Papers anniversary projects. Public interest is high in the remaining secret JFK assassination records. Such a project would fulfill President Obama's desire that his administration be the most open administration in the history of the United States. http://naraopengov.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Create-a-JFK-Records-Declassification-Project/338782-17906
Author Russ Baker, gives a gripping talk on his book, Family of Secrets- an in depth examination of the Bush dynasty and America's invisible government, at Borders Books in San Francisco, June 15, 2010.
Anyone interested in the scholarly pursuit of how power really works in the US and to what extent the purveyors of that power will go need to read Russ' book. This highly disturbing book has been quarantined even by what many consider to be an open minded show---Comedy Central. The jokes on us. If you want to understand the dark back story to events like those on September 11, consider bringing Russ Baker into your consciousness.
An Honest Skeptic’s View of the Great American Conspiracies: Lincoln to 9/11 – Interview with Dr Stephen Juan

A Visibility 9-11 Podcast
Interview by John Bursill
Dr Stephen Juan
It is a great pleasure to welcome bestselling author, media personality and lecturer Dr Stephen Juan to Visibility 9-11 to talk about “honest” skepticism of the great American conspiracies. This is a very interesting interview as we touch on many common themes in historical events setting the climate for the 9/11 Attacks. We explore the Lincoln assassination, the sinking of the Maine and Lusitania, Pearl Harbor and the JFK assassination. It is also a little special in my view as this skepticism is being presented in a balanced and conservative way by an intellectual who is not connected to the 9/11 Truth Movement, but rather to the mainstream.
I (Student) found this at Truthout. It speaks of 'deep' politics -- even if in a mild way -- more clearly than usual whether in mainstream or more alternative news.
What Obama Is Up Against
Monday 02 November 2009

The first anniversary of Barack Obama's historic election finds many of his supporters already grousing. Fair enough: Obama has been more vigorous in some areas than others. But one essential question goes unasked: How much can any president accomplish against the wishes of recalcitrant power centers within his own government?

This month will mark the 46th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. A recently declassified oral history by Brigadier General Godfrey McHugh, President Kennedy's military aide on the Dallas trip, sheds new light on the critical hours after the shooting. McHugh makes startling claims about Lyndon Johnson's behavior in the wake of the assassination.
The interview with McHugh, originally conducted for the John F. Kennedy Library in 1978, remained closed for 31 years. It was finally declassified in the spring of 2009. I just happened to be working at the Kennedy Library on the day the interview was opened to the public and have used it for the first time in my new book, The Kennedy Assassination -- 24 Hours After.
The New York Times, on October 17, published a page-one story by Scott Shane about the CIA’s defiance of a court order to release documents pertaining to the John F. Kennedy assassination, in its so-called Joannides file. George Joannides was the CIA case officer for a Cuban exile group that made headlines in 1963 by its public engagements with Lee Harvey Oswald, just a few weeks before Oswald allegedly killed Kennedy. For over six years a former Washington Post reporter, Jefferson Morley, has been suing the CIA for the release of these documents.
Sometimes the way that a news item is reported can be more newsworthy than the item itself. A notorious example was the 1971 publication of the Pentagon Papers (documents far too detailed for most people to read) on the front page of the New York Times.
The October 17 Times story was another such example. It revealed, perhaps for the first time in any major U.S. newspaper, that the CIA has been deceiving the public about its own relationship to the JFK assassination.
C.I.A. Is Still Cagey About Oswald Mystery
By SCOTT SHANE
Published: October 16, 2009
WASHINGTON — Is the Central Intelligence Agency covering up some dark secret about the assassination of John F. Kennedy?
Probably not. But you would not know it from the C.I.A.’s behavior.
For six years, the agency has fought in federal court to keep secret hundreds of documents from 1963, when an anti-Castro Cuban group it paid clashed publicly with the soon-to-be assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. The C.I.A. says it is only protecting legitimate secrets. But because of the agency’s history of stonewalling assassination inquiries, even researchers with no use for conspiracy thinking question its stance.
The files in question, some released under direction of the court and hundreds more that are still secret, involve the curious career of George E. Joannides, the case officer who oversaw the dissident Cubans in 1963. In 1978, the agency made Mr. Joannides the liaison to the House Select Committee on Assassinations — but never told the committee of his earlier role.
