Robert Fisk: Are we stil not able to say that the 19 murderers of 9/11 were Muslims from the Middle East?
For some years, HBOs satirical talk show host Bill Maher - of Real Time, has repeatedly vocalized his ill opinion on his weekly live cable television show, of those who question the governments account of the events of September 11th. Whether its directed against a Real Time guest or used as a punch line to his entertainment offerings, activists known as 9/11 Truthers have been lambasted as tin foil hat conspiracy theorists. But, then again, Bill Maher also publicly states the Twin Towers burned for more than two hours. This would make little impact on national opinion if it were not for Mahers impressive viewership numbers. Ratings are the mark of a TV man and Bill seems to be holding the high cards however, when it comes to documentation of what actually occurred on that tragic day and the alleged evidence that has since surfaced, it seems, the time has come for Maher to rethink his hand and callor fold.
Despite Common Dreams' David Lindorff having previously dismissed "conspiracy theories," in his latest Mumbai article over at democrats.com, he concludes saying, " And let us hope that Americans finally demand an honest accounting of what happened on 9/11/2001 and that those who are guilty of allowing it to happen ... are exposed and forced to pay for their ineptness and their crimes."
We don't need to convince everyone that 9-11 was an inside job in order to create a groundswell of public support for a new 9-11 investigation. So Lindorff, for all his previous arrogant claims about nutty conspiracy theories, can prove to be an important ally. It's a question of deciding our foremost objective.

Declassify and Release 9/11 Commission Records in 2009
Mr. President-Elect Obama, The 9/11 Commission records “general restriction from public access”, according to federal law, lasts until 2009. Please order all involved Federal Agencies, including but not limited to the Pentagon, FAA, FBI and CIA, to finish the work of declassifying 9/11 Commission records for public release, immediately. Researcher and writer Professor Peter Dale Scott, summarizes the current situation:
“The FBI has been declassifying documents cooperatively with respect to this commitment, and recently the CIA has begun to cooperate as well. But some federal agencies, notably the FAA and Pentagon, are not collaborating with the 9/11 Commission's commitment at all...Both the FAA and the Pentagon declined to release important records to the 9/11 Commission, despite its statutory powers, until required to do so by judicial subpoena.”

Several prominent liberal writers are arguing that 9/11 is a distraction from the fight for liberal causes. Are they right?
