21st September, 2010
‘Who really benefits from 9/11 and the ‘war on terror’?’ asked our banner at the Counter-Terror Expo 2010.
‘We do! It keeps us in work…’ was the jovial response from a passing group of Navy personnel.

http://www.9-11anniversarylondon.org/ WE DEMAND THE BBC COVERS THIS STORY • Scientific peer-reviewed proof nano-thermite found in the rubble at Ground Zero • 750+ architects and engineers demand a new investigation 9/11 is a historical event and it has changed the way we live today. Subsequently to 9/11, the Bush and Blair administrations launched an aggressive War on Terror which we were told would last the rest of our lives. Shortly after, Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded and the blood of millions of innocents has been spilt. Furthermore, the Patriot Act and UK Anti-Terror legislation has eroded our civil liberties with devastating effect. The police state has never been better funded. The mainstream media has sensationalized Islamaphobia and Muslims are subject to countless unnecessary stops, searches, raids, arrests and harrassments. The War on Terror is a War OF Terror. This makes it all the more concerning when we discover that many western intelligence agencies had foreknowledge of the attacks and failed abysmally to prevent them.
London Truth Action and We Are Change London were at the G20 protest in the City of London yesterday raising awareness.
Look out for musicians Billy Bragg, Kate Nash, Sam Duckworth (Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly) and Olly the Octopus using our PA system and impromptu stage - the Bank of England. We also had a nice chat with actor and comedian Russell Brand.
A brief round up of the various street actions that London Truth Action got up to this month.
All day street action outside the Convention on Modern Liberty to provide a solution to the Orwellian proceedings going on inside. While we were holding our Architects and Engineers banner we were approached by Guardian columnist Henry Porter and NO2ID National Coordinator Phil Booth. They were both engaged in conversation with us until 2 police officers pulled up in a car and attempted to carry out a 'Stop and Account' (Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000) on us for holding a banner. We politely refused to give our details and the officers went on their way but Mr Porter was so incensed at what had occured that when he introduced the last talk of the evening in the main hall he mentioned it - and everyone coming out was eager to talk with us and take a dvd.

The 11th of September this year is the seventh anniversary of 9/11, and seven years is too long to be silent. Seven years of war, seven years of occupation, seven years of sitting and watching as our civil liberties disappear over the horizon; seven long years. Long enough for the powers that be to grow in confidence and accelerate their agenda, but long enough for the awakening we see all around us and within us to take shape. The time for action is now.
No more apathy, no more inaction, no more "I'll do it tomorrow", no more "what can I do?".
On the 11th of September this year We Are Change UK and Truth Action London will be holding a protest outside the US Embassy in London. We will embody the traits we are striving to create in the world around us: peace, compassion, consideration and love.
