Christopher Condon, an ally of Pacifica’s interim director Grace Aaron, last month introduced a resolution at a meeting of the Pacifica National Board’s Governance Committee targeting Democracy Now! over allegations that is is being secretly funded by the CIA.

The action, which would require every Pacifica programmer to disclose all sources of funding above $5000 and related contracts, passed the Committee and is before the Pacifica National Board, meeting in Houston this weekend, for approval.

What follows is more of a grab bag rather than an ombudsman's mailbag.

Included are a couple of unusual but not widely known episodes that unfolded last week that I thought might be of interest more broadly to PBS viewers. They can be seen to have at least some association with PBS in the way they were presented or appeared to the public. Yet PBS, as an enterprise, didn't have anything to do with them.

This is a personal view of the attacks of 9/11 from the perspective of a UK national.

A Sorry Indictment by Nick Mollo

The first time I came to believe that something might be suspect about the horrendous events of September 11th was with a live on-site report by Channel 4 News in England. The journalist stated that the downed plane (Flight 93) in Shanksville could conceivably have been shot down by an American fighter plane. This assumption was made by the reporter because the wreckage of Flight 93 was spread over what appeared to be a large area. This live report, to my knowledge, was not aired again and the official version of the passengers bringing down the plane to save further lives started to emerge and subsequently became the established unquestionable truth.

Other than my own controversial opinion, that Flight 93 was shot down by an American fighter, I never questioned the official version of events; that 19 terrorists masterminded by Osama Bin Laden had attacked America. The shock and awe of that terrible day was so convincing and the images so powerful that any alternative to the official version was out of the question.

The one-hour BBC program The Third Tower should have a positive effect on spreading the truth about what happened to WTC 7. Despite its attempt to debunk by twisting and omitting facts, there is much to cheer about.

Here are 30 examples from the program:

1) There is a WTC 7, many have never heard of it.

2) No plane hit WTC 7.

3) WTC 7 fell down.

4) Several videos of WTC 7 falling down are shown.

5) The collapse is compared visually to a controlled demolition.

6) Barry Jennings tells of hearing multiple explosions in WTC 7.

7) Barry Jennings was told while in WTC 7 "Get out of there, get out of there now", which sounds very suspicious.

8) Barry Jennings' time-line is not contradicted by anything Barry Jennings says.

9) After seven years, no final report on the collapse of WTC 7 has appeared. The 9/11 Commission never mentioned the collapse of WTC 7.

10) The program will generate sales and Internet hits of 'Loose Change'.

Ticking Time Bomb?

The John McCain campaign insists it is trying to arrange a meeting with the Evangelist Billy Graham after a letter surfaced from the McCain camp that suggested the candidate didn't have time for such a meeting. Graham, the nation's best-known Christian evangelist, had long been a spiritual adviser to presidents of both parties.

The letter, written June 3 by McCain scheduling director Amber Johnson to an intermediary trying to set up a meeting, came to light as the McCain camp tries to patch things up with Christian conservatives.

It reads, "I must pass along our regrets and do not foresee an opportunity to add this event to our calendar."

But a McCain spokesman tells FOX News the campaign has been working with Graham's office directly for months on a meeting.

This is a very interesting article on the front page of the USA Today today (June 3).

The thing that struck me about this article is that there is no mention of any EVIDENCE against KSM. One fundamental principle for the government when they want to railroad someone is that they need a strong 70% to 80% consensus that the railroaded person is guilty. If you don't have that, the railroading looks sloppy, and if you don't have 50%, then the railroading becomes a public relations disaster. That is what is happening to the Bush Administration at this time.

It looks like public opinion is strongly in favor that they want to see the EVIDENCE against KSM.

The old talking points that revealing the evidence will jeopardize the war on terror and American safety is wearing thin on most people. The Franklin Pierce Law Center appears to be our ally in this regard and they make some bold statements.

Is there any EVIDENCE against KSM? Not that I am aware of. First, we were told the Osama bin Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks, then we were told that Mohamed Atta was the "ringleader", and now we are told that KSM is the mastermind. Which is it, Mr. Bush?

David. I love your music, but I was quite disappointed when I read your 9/11 essay on Rabble.ca, and have been following your appearances on the web since then.

I wanted to ask you a couple of questions directly, and thought your blog would be the best place to do so.

First, I wanted to tell you that I was disappointed because I felt your article was written based on your emotions, and did not actually discuss any factual information. I understand and share your frustration regarding the abrasiveness of some 9/11 Truthers, but feel that your comments contribute to the divisiveness that many of us on The Left are trying to patch up.

This Better Bad News piece I just ran into had me digging up the old series of "Bill Maher meets 9-11 truth" media archives. I think there is something to be learned about the media amidst all this. I just don't know what it is. Maybe we can figure it out being that we are moving into an intensely focused time for politics in the media.

On March 6, 2008, a US Armed Forces recruiting station was bombed by an unknown individual. It took Geraldo Rivera just over 24 hours to start planting a notion in the heads of millions of FOX News viewers that "9/11 was an inside job kind of guys" were likely responsible for the bombing.

This is a dangerous and false meme that Rivera is planting in the heads of millions of people. And as the Big Lebowski would say, "This agression will not stand... man!"

911blogger.com utterly rejects the use of violence to communicate anything. By anyone. That includes Geraldo Rivera. Rivera is infamous partly because he has built his notoriety on the violent incident which occurred on+his+television+show+in+1988.

A brawl broke out on the set between racists purposefully invited to the show, and some other guests, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the violence was expected. "A November 1988 cover of Newsweek carried a close-up of his bashed face next to a headline reading, "Trash TV: From the Lurid to the Loud, Anything Goes."

FOX News says "We Love to Hear From Our Viewers!"

Let's take them up on the offer. After all, you're a viewer now... My suggestion is that we all ask for a retraction or apology for this outrageous comment, and Geraldo should have on the air David Ray Griffin to talk about his great new book, 9/11+Contradictions.

According to a 2006 Scripps-Howard poll, over a third of Americans believe high-ranking officials either helped commit the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, or at least allowed them to happen. Other polls report even greater levels of cynicism.
Where do you draw the line separating “fringe conspiracy theory” from “mainstream phenomenon”? We’re not sure, but if one-third of the populace isn’t the mainstream it’s at least a significant tributary of it.

Nathan Janes' painting could create some controversy, but all he wants to do is get to the truth.

Janes, a Port Clinton native, recently completed a painting of a dog wearing a blindfold with "911" and "truth" above and below the dog.

Janes said the painting represents America's inability to question the events surrounding the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

"It's kind of hard for people to question whether the government lied or had a part in it," he said. "I'm not say anything's a hoax. I'm saying there's information that's not been released or told."

Did anyone else catch the "lightly edited" MSNBC "9/11: As It Happened" which was broadcast ?twice? on Tues. 9/11/07? I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy and objectivity (especially after the History Channel's bias), but I can't seem to find a link to a DVD for purchase. It could be a little traumatic or stressful for some to watch 2 hours of 9/11 coverage over again, though.

Here's an idea for anybody listening (& I hope someone like William Rodriguez has a similar idea): A DOCUMENTARY filmed during a reunion of as many 9/11 eyewitnesses as can be found and brought together in one place. Also, invite all those "journalists" who were also witnesses (you know, the ones who initially reported "a huge explosion" etc.) and see how many of them have the guts to show up and honestly discuss what THEY saw, heard and felt that day.

This is a response to Lucus, David Slesinger and others call to hone our strategy and points of pressure, so that we can win.

I have a powerful feeling that the ideas which have been presented here represent the potential trimtab for the 9-11 Justice movement. Buckminster's Fuller's use of the concept of the trimtab needed to help turn the rudder on a masive ship, such as Earth, is related to the ideas of accupressure/puncture. Find the spots with the most bang for the buck.

Charges pressed by Alliot-Marie after the disclosure of GDES documents

Paris (AFP)- The Defence Minister, Michele Alliot-Marie, has decided to notify the Minister of Justice in order to request pressing charges, after the disclosure by Le Monde of classified documents warning of a hijacking of American airliners 8 months prior to 9/11, according to the Ministry.

“The Minister has decided to notify the Minister of Justice in order to request that charges be pressed for removal, seizure, and disclosure of defence secrets,” stated the spokesperson for the minister, Jean-Francois Bureau, at his weekly press conference.

These charges relate “specifically to 6 classified GDES (the General Directorate of External Security) notes,” he specified.

According to the article and the documents published by Le Monde on Tuesday, French foreign intelligence had, in January 2001, 8 months prior to 9/11, alerted their American colleagues to an Al Qaeda plot to hijack American airliners.

9/11- The French knew about it well in advance

It’s an impressive mass of documents. From afar, it looks like a university thesis. Up close however, there is nothing to see. Red stamps stating, “Confidential- defence” and “Strictly for federal use” are on each page. On the top left, there is a royal blue logo- that of the GDES, the General Directorate of External Security, the French Secret Service. In total, there are 328 classified pages. Notes, reports, summaries, maps, diagrams, charts, and satellites pictures. All of it dedicated exclusively to Al Qaeda, its leaders, sub-leaders, hideouts and training camps. And its financial benefactors as well. And what’s more, it is nothing less than the essence of GDES reports between July 2000 and October 2001. A real encyclopaedia.
