A new television ad campaign featuring the family members of 9/11 victims has succeeded in garnering what 9/11 activists have lacked for years: serious treatment in the mainstream media.

Granted, that media was Fox News host Geraldo Rivera, who in a former iteration ran a Jerry Springer-like daytime talk show. That and, the last time Rupert Murdoch's conservative-tilted television channel seriously talked about issues pertaining to 9/11, they were calling for a public official's resignation over a signature on one of the "9/11 truth" petitions.

Still, at the end of his serious-yet-brief treatment of questions surrounding the collapse of World Trade Center 7 (WTC 7, pictured), Rivera admitted that the activists had made him "much more open minded" about questions surrounding 9/11.

A 30 second television spot featuring 9/11 family members and promoting awareness of the destruction of World Trade Center Building 7 has begun airing in New York City. The ad is sponsored by buildingwhat.org and highlights the fact that over 1,200 architects and engineers have called for an independent investigation into the events of 9/11.

This question will be on next year's Denver ballot: whether a 7 member commission should be created to investigate the existence of UFOs. No joke.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry. I mean, does this illustrate how all viewpoints of We the People can be addressed through legislation, or does it show that the questioning of UFOs actually has more legitimacy/importance than 911 Truth?

Please NYCCAN, try again. Don't give up! Make the proposal clean and submit it early. And/or create one for Shanksville, PA. Set up one in DC. Try to get it on the NY State ballot. People are currently opening themselves up to the once unthinkable (gay marriage, marajuana, ...aliens) and blind allegiance was always one of our major stumbling blocks. 911Truth has recently gotten a major push in momentum due to not only growing media coverage, but also widespread questioning of the US gov as a whole.

The house of cards is showing signs of crumbling, and people are seeking legitimate ways to question authority. But in this waiting game, we need to seize this opportunity now before the pillars of willful ignorance and futility can be re-established.

If you asked me when I was a high school senior in 1988, with Nancy Regan moaning on TV, if I would ever read such an article in the NY Times, I'd say it'd be impossible. Actually, I would have probably said "What are you, on dope?"

Twenty years ago the legalized pot movement was about as "grass-roots" as you could get. It was subject to major ridicule. Sustained as much name-calling, lunatic-comparing, and media derision as any other fringe movement. Police are against it, lawmakers are against it, teachers, ministers, and parents are against it. The supporters were jailed, fined, and considered the dregs of society. It has been considered so morally defunct that jobs, families, and futures have be destroyed by belonging to this cause. Fully equating oneself with it was (and still technically is) illegal.

But it is succeeding, and with that, 911 Truth should find a blast of hope.

William Pepper, legal advisor to the New York City 9/11 Ballot Initiative, today explained why the initiative's board has decided not to pursue the case any further. Appearing on the "Fair and Balanced with Kevin Barrett" radio show (archived here) Pepper said the odds of winning an appeal were too slim to justify the resources such an appeal would consume. Instead, he said, the NYCcan.org legal team is hoping to file a civil suit by 9/11 family members and others in a legal venue carefully selected to maximize the chances of success.

Pepper also confirmed the rumor that a professor who is an expert on election law refused to help NYCcan.org after Pepper was unable to promise the professor that the results of a genuine 9/11 investigation would not hurt Israel.

This suggests that they would have otherwise allowed/welcomed NYCCAN if it was better formatted? (yeah right) To openly celebrate the failure of democratic choice eludes to something being hidden. And being pro-Obama now makes you a 911Truther? And in the poster there is a slash mark straight through the American flag where it says "I voted". So being against NYCCAN means you're anti-democratic and anti-patriotic, you think the flag sucks, and being unable to vote should be championed.

And just how do they suggest finishing the sentence "NYC can't..." Can't what? ..vote? ..get justice? .. know the truth? ..be democratic? In my opinion, the slogan NYCCANT would be better suited for 911truthers, and should be emblazoned across NYC. It directly tells the people that their ability to make their own choices and decide how their city is run has been silenced. It says that democracy has been stopped. Use it.

“Government explanations of 9/11 make no sense"

American actor and 9/11 activist Daniel Sunjata says that he supports an independent 9/11 investigation because there are too many disturbing questions that remain unanswered.

“I can point out one thing in particular – the 9/11 Commission. Not one word in the 9/11 Commission report on the collapse of Building Seven,” he said. ”That is just one particular item.”

“Seventy per cent of the questions proposed by the victims’ family members during the 9/11 Commission were completely ignored. That fact alone backs for a real investigation into the matter,” Sunjata added.

In the five years since the 9/11 Commission released its studious but timid report, Americans of all political stripes have advocated for a new investigation into the attacks of September 11, 2001. Since Obama seems intent upon putatively pardoning the Bush Administration for all of its crimes and misdemenors, such an investigation will clearly not take place at the federal level. But a New-York based organization has been pursuing a local effort—and on the eve of the eighth anniversary of the attacks, it has achieved what could be an important step toward its goal. The New York City Coalition for Accountability Now (NYC CAN), which describes itself as “a group comprising 9/11 family members, first responders, and survivors,” has gathered signatures to place a referendum for a new 9/11 investigation on the November ballot in New York City.

SILENCING OF NYC VOTERS WILL NOT GO UNCHALLENGED

On Monday, August 10, NYC CAN began a comprehensive review of the nearly 26,000 signatures invalidated by the New York City Board of Elections and City Clerk. With 26,003 signatures accepted as valid by the City, at least 3,997 additional signatures were needed to exceed the threshold of 30,000 signatures. 10 days, 50 volunteers and 1,000 man-hours later, we are thrilled to report we have so far discovered 6,924 signatures we will argue were wrongly invalidated.

In addition, the Court has granted an extension allowing us to complete our review of 6 unfinished volumes. We anticipate having well over 7,000 additional valid signatures once the review is complete. The 50+ individuals who helped conduct the review take great pride in knowing their work has stopped the silencing of 7,000 New York City voters and allowed their voices to be heard.

Statement of Support for the NYC 9/11 Independent Commission Initiative

The initiative to create a NYC Independent Commission with subpoena power to conduct a comprehensive and fact-driven investigation of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 is absolutely necessary! Only through open transparent public investigation will the unanswered questions of 9/11 be addressed. Foremost among the questions needing to be investigated is the fact that some 700 scientific professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering, and physics have now concluded that the official explanation for the collapse of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings is implausible according to laws of physics. Especially troubling is the collapse of WTC 7, a forty-seven-story building that was not hit by planes, yet dropped in its own “footprint” in 6.6 seconds in the same manner as a controlled demolition. Steven E Jones and eight other scientists have conducted chemical research on the dust from the World Trade centers. Their research results were published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal Open Chemical Physics Journal, Volume 2, 2009. The authors write, “We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples. The properties of these chips were analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (XEDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The red portion of these chips is found to be an unreacted thermitic material and highly energetic.” Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of a metal powder and a metal oxide, which produces an aluminothermic reaction known as a thermite reaction and is used in controlled demolitions of buildings.

Dear Fellow Advocates for 9/11 Truth,

For nearly eight long years, the 9/11 Truth Movement has been seeking to discover and publicize the truth behind the events of September 11, 2001. Although the obstacles have been formidable, more than enough has been discovered to show the official story to be false, and the awareness of this fact, polls show, has been spread over much of the planet.

The time is now ripe to convert this awareness into tangible, political results.

Today, our best opportunity to take this step forward is represented in the efforts of NYC CAN (the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now). It has been working long and hard to get a referendum on the NYC ballot to authorize the City's own investigation into 9/11. A petition to put such a referendum on the ballot must be supported by 30,000 valid signatures.

On June 24, 2008, NYC CAN submitted a petition with 52,000 signatures. The 22,000 extra signatures were to provide a comfortable cushion in case some of them were deemed invalid.

This is my endorsement of the NYCCAN initiative. It's obvious that I endorse the initiative from the amount of NYCCAN posts I've made but this is a different kind of endorsement.

Today, an "anti-truther/debunker" site posted the letter (thanks to Loose Nuke for this version) written by the City Clerk that explains why they didn't allow the petition on the ballot.

The reasons given were:

Supporters of a ballot initiative that would create a second, independent 9/11 investigative commission are awaiting the City Clerk’s certification of 52,000 signatures submitted on June 24 by the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now, or NYC CAN. The decision could bring the measure to the City Council for a vote and, if approved, the referendum would appear on this November’s ballot.

“This could be one of the most important ballot referendums ever put to city voters because of what happened, the nature of the event, the scale of it — and because so many questions were unanswered,” said Kyle Hence, a spokesperson for NYC CAN.

From 2003 to 2006, I devoted much of my life to directing the documentary Press For Truth. I and my colleagues made this movie because we wanted to make a wider audience aware of the amazing story and important issues championed by our heroes, "the Jersey Girls".

These four mothers from New Jersey, widowed on 9/11, were still fresh in their grief as they began a noble fight for what they saw as a common sense cause: an independent investigation. Such an endeavor, they felt, would determine all pertinent facts related to the murder of their husbands so that We the People would have the necessary information to properly deal with any and all wrongdoers and to fix any problems with America's systems of protection for it's citizens. Only by doing this could they ensure that nothing like what happened to their loved ones would ever happen to anyone else's loved ones.

Lately I've been posting and directing people to http://www.nyccan.org and to support the victim's families, first responders, survivors and citizens in their effort to get an independent investigation into 9/11 with subpoena power.

I had posted this link and other 9/11 related material including the peer-reviewed thermite paper and documentary 9/11:+Press+for+truth on many occasions on a daily open forum Andrew Bolt has. Andrew Bolt is a columnist / blogger for the Australian newspaper 'Herald Sun' which is owned by News Corporation; Rupert Murdoch.

In the past he was quite open in his opposition to my views and subsequently proclaimed that any more such postings on 'conspiracy theories' would be blocked. I replied in a calm and concise manner explaining that never once did I break the rules and that I should be allowed to continue to post in the open forum without fear of being censored so long as I followed the rules.

Is it time to endorse NYC CAN?

70,000 signatures. A groundswell of endorsements from some of the most prestigious and well-respected names in and out of the 9/11 Truth movement, anti-war movement, government and military officials, and, most importantly, the victim’s families.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with the underlying language, history and personalities of those involved, it cannot be disputed that NYC CAN represents perhaps the most unified and historic groundswell of public support for a 9/11 investigation in the history of the 9/11 Truth movement. We cannot turn our backs on the self-evident nature of this historic collaboration.

For this reason I can no longer withhold my endorsement.

As an author, I often write about good versus evil and the journey of the hero, who must reveal the truth against all odds in order to right a wrong. There is no doubt that a great evil was committed on September 11, 2001, but the entire truth has yet to be revealed. Why is the truth so important? Because the domino effect of 9/11 led to two wars that wiped out over a million innocent people who had nothing to do with September 11th, and there has yet to be a single firing or reprimand in regard to intelligence failures that allowed 3,000 Americans to be murdered.

Democracy is an illusion if the people refuse to make our leaders accountable. An open free society cannot exist in a vacuum controlled by the media. Real patriotism is not a noun, it is a verb.

Each of us has a choice: We can either shrug our shoulders and remain indifferent, or demand a real investigation. As a patriotic American, I fully support the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now, which has one simple yet important goal: the creation of an independent and impartial subpoena powered investigation into the September 11th attacks.

I am writing to endorse the www.nyccan.org initiative. It is shocking that one of the greatest mass murders in the history of the United States has not yet received an adequate investigation. The limitations and shortcomings of the 9/11 Commission have now been widely recognized, and even its two chairmen have acknowledged that the commission was "set up to fail." Meanwhile this country continues to live under major legal and even constitutional changes flowing from an event which we still do not not adequately understand. It is not too much to say that the future of America as an open society will depend in large part on whether it can find the political will to determine what happened on that fateful day.

*New York* - Outside City Hall today relatives of 9/11 victims, first responders and survivors of the September 11th attacks gathered to endorse a November ballot initiative to establish a new 9/11 investigation under the auspices of the city government of New York. Support on the street is high, the group says, and polls indicate a majority of New Yorkers wants a new investigation.

On June 24, the group leading the ballot initiative, the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now (NYC CAN) filed a petition containing 52,000 signatures with the office of the City Clerk. The official filing initiated a 60-day period specified in Section 37 of the New York Municipal Home Rule Law in which the City Council is asked to review the petition and approve its placement on the upcoming November ballot.
