A Personal Debunking of Popular Mechanics

I wrote this review for Amazon on December 19, and it did not get posted for a whole month!

Anyone who has done serious research into 9/11 will come to the inescapable conclusion that rogue elements of the government orchestrated the attacks as a false flag operation to arouse patriotism so the nation would support a war of global domination.

However, there is a very strong contingent of Americans who react emotionally, rather than rationally, to any argument suggesting government complicity on any level, let alone outright orchestration. These are the ones, who for decades, have believed America is the best thing for humanity since sliced bread. They believe our government would never murder its own people (even though they have NO trouble believing OTHER govts would kill THEIR own people), and anyone who thinks as such must be paranoid and even anti-American. Indeed, most of the positive Amazon reviews seem to be of this mentality. Such Americans, comfortable in their established paradigm of reality, will find comfort with this book.

ABC Honored For "Misleading" 9/11 Series

Listen to Paul Thompson tell us why "Path To 9/11" was "misleading." - Jon

NEW YORK, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- ABC received a "Falsie" award for its Sept. 11 miniseries that the Center for Media and Democracy chided as the most misleading U.S. show of the year.

The organization -- described by as a "left-leaning watchdog group" by Daily Variety -- chided ABC's "Path to 9/11" as "an opportunity to rewrite history" launched by conservative filmmakers that directly contradicted the Sept. 11 commission report it was supposedly drawn from.

The Falsies are presented to shows deemed to be subliminal PR spin distorting the facts.

The runner-up for the dubious honor last week was the National Association of Broadcast Communicators, the organization that distributed pre-packaged "video news releases" that appeared to be legitimate TV news reports.

FOX threatens Alex Jones with barely subliminal "Standoff"

I received this article in a bulletin on myspace and thought it would be of interest to some here:

"Man of Steele"
by Citizen Emily

Lethargy struck late last Tuesday nite and after playing with the coat hanger jig on my tv I finally got FOX in without snow. I tuned in for a program I have never heard of before called "Standoff."

"Standoff" is a one hour prime-time crime drama. Ron Livingston plays a suave FBi hostage negotiator who saves the day once a week. Typically this Hollywood Dept. of Homeland Security scripted bull isht is not what I'm interested in. But before finding the remote in search of PBS (Public Bull Isht) something said on "Standoff" caught my attention.

Soon enough "Standoff" was introducing a character that was so mocking independent journalist and radio talk show host Alex Jones that I had to sit down and convince myself I wasn't dreaming. This character dissing Alex Jones, "Avery Steele," an energetic, suspicious, conspiracy theorist, was a radio talk-show host with a panache for revealing government cover-ups. As this episode of "Standoff" developed a hostage taker had called into "Avery Steele's" controversial talk-show for advice. By the end of the program, the FBi hostage negotiators set up a sting for the talk show host and the hostage taker who had 'phoned into his show for Constitutional advice. Ron Livingston rides again, I guess.

Pentagon steps up 'battle of ideas'

Given the deliberate disinfo we sometimes get on this site, posting this article seems appropriate (of course, they don't mention targeting the 9/11 Truth Movement):

Pentagon steps up 'battle of ideas'
By Simon Hooper for CNN

(CNN) -- The Pentagon's latest recruits are not soldiers, spies or scientists but spin doctors, bloggers and YouTube DIY filmmakers as it prepares to launch a vigorous new media campaign in support of its ongoing military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Monday the U.S. Defense Department announced it was setting up a "rapid response" operation in order to "get inside the 24/7 news cycle" amid growing criticism of the conduct of the war in Iraq and the leadership of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

The new operation is dedicated to providing "more timely responses to breaking news," reacting promptly to critical coverage and offering Pentagon-friendly "information products" to media organizations.

As well as providing experts, guests and analysts to speak publicly on the Pentagon's behalf to the traditional TV, radio and print media, the new operation will also concentrate on harnessing the growing power of new media as a means of getting its message across.

One branch will be dedicated to "creating products and distributing information" for the Internet such as blogs, podcasts and video content for Web sites such as YouTube.

9/11 Playwright?

Complete Article --->

In researching the Bush administration’s manipulation of public perceptions,
I came across an interesting summary of the State Department’s Philip
Zelikow, who was Executive Director on the 9-11 Commission, that greatest of
all charades. According to Wikipedia:

"Prof. Zelikow’s area of academic expertise is the creation and
maintenance of, in his words, 'public myths’ or 'public presumptions’ which
he defines as 'beliefs (1) thought to be true ( although not necessarily
known with certainty) and (2) shared in common within the relevant political
community.’ In his academic work and elsewhere he has taken a special
interest in what he has called 'searing’ or 'molding’ events (that) take on
transcendent’ importance and therefore retain their power even as the
experiencing generation passes from the scene
.He has noted that 'a
history’s narrative power is typically linked to how readers relate to the
actions of individuals in the history; if readers cannot make the connection
to their own lives, then a history may fail to engage them at all."

The Ten Commandments of War Propaganda (1914-1918)

Lord Arthur Ponsonby analyses mechanisms of war propaganda during WW I (1914-18): 'The Lie in War' [‘Falsehood in Wartime’ ] published in 1928,

1: We don't want war
2: The enemy bears all the responsibility.
3: We are not waging war against a people, but against an evil leader.
4: We are fighting for a noble cause, not for material interests.
5: The enemy commits atrocities.
6: The enemy is using weapons that are not permitted.
7: Our losses are limited, the enemy's losses are high.
8: The artists and intellectuals support our cause.
9: Every war is a 'holy war'.
10: Anyone who calls the propaganda into question is a traitor…

Facts must be distorted, relevant circumstances concealed, and a picture presented which by its crude colouring will persuade the ignorant people that their Government is blameless, their cause is righteous, and that the indisputable wickedness of the enemy has been proved beyond question. A moment's reflection would tell any reasonable person that such obvious bias cannot possibly represent the truth. But the moment's reflection is not allowed; lies are circulated with great rapidity. The unthinking mass accept them and by their excitement sway the rest. The amount of rubbish and humbug that pass under the name of patriotism in war-time in all countries is sufficient to make decent people blush when they are subsequently disillusioned.

Using Dead Girls and Live Boys Politically

I can remember back in the summer of 2001, as the country was all-consumed by the Gary Condit scandal, dark and ominous clouds were gathering on the horizon and reports were leaking from around the world that Al Qaeda was planning some sort of catastrophic attack against American “symbols” of power.

I can remember reports that the US military was on Delta Alert (the highest state of alert - short of open warfare). I can remember Diane Feinstein’s warnings on the Sunday morning talk shows of an impending attack. I can remember the Jerusalem Post’s article predicting a major attack. I can remember my state of alarm as it appeared that the raging violence in Israeli’s occupied territories, and the nearly daily suicide bombings, were accelerating towards some crescendo on the world stage.

Yet, night after night, we were treated to the Gary Condit news hour on each of the major networks. It indeed appeared that there was no other news but the Gary Condit scandal.

And then 9/11 happened, and no one has heard very much about Gary Condit ever since.

A few months back while Israel was mercilessly bombarding Lebanon (the just recently newly-celebrated seat of democracy in the Middle East) we suddenly found our attentions drawn to the bazaar tale of Mark Karr, the confessed killer of Jon Benet Ramsey. The media became transfixed on the lurid details of Mark Karr’s past, with Karr’s ultra-creepy face and blank stare radiating out from every newspaper tabloid and TV news hour in the nation, despite the incredible lack of CREDIBLE evidence that Mark Karr could possibly be Jon Benet’s killer, including DNA evidence that amazing was not produced for weeks, as Karr was flown first-class back to the United States and was photographed sipping champagne.

Rolling Stone 9/11 Blog crawling with people playing "anti-semites"

Please anyone who gets this in time:

go over to the Rolling Stone Blog
and help out.

There are tons of posts by people pretending to be Truthers and smearing us with anti-semitic propaganda. Pretending to be for 9/11 Truth and then ranting about "Jews"

It's bad.

Thanks for the help if your able.

And if you're an agent reading this, you've got my curse.

I've been reading Fetzers. "The Great Zapruder Hoax" and you would not believe the amount of trouble that went into falsifying the data. The cover up and spin was bigger work than the original operation. This "operation" at Rolling Stone is definitely deliberate. It's not even skillfully done. But a trap for the sheeple, nevertheless.

The Logical Reconstruction of Reality: A Reply to Time

Time magazine, the flagship corporate-government mouthpiece, has always been good primarily for one thing--to let us know what Big Brother is thinking, and by the same token, to tell us what we should think. (If you have to ask who Big Brother is, see below.)

Before I reached the age of reason, at the age of 42 when I realized that the mainstream media had been lying for at least a quarter of a century, since the murder of JFK, Time and Newsweek were my teddy bears. Read them and before you know it, you're fast asleep in a world that is in control, no matter how bad it seems. The right people are doing the right things.

That was true, of course, only not in the way I thought. I was the one who was under control. Instead of shouting bloody murder from the rooftops, I was dutifully reading myself to sleep, taking my soma every week.

This latest attempt (Time, Sep. 3, 2006 ) to pacify the herd, to anesthetize us with the idea that "conspiracy theories" are defense mechanisms to protect ourselves from the big, bad, complex world, "empowering" us "to make sense of grand events" is striking, even for Time, in its illogic.

Far from "empowering," the notion that the government itself perpetrated 9/11 has the opposite effect on most people. Who wants to believe that our elected leaders are ruthless, mass-murdering demonic pigs? Fear of having to believe this, and subsequent denial of whatever evidence and arguments would lead to this belief, are by far the most common reactions. Lev Grossman, Big Brother's hack in this instance, knows this as well as anyone else with common sense, and the ploy here is to skirt the fear by making the denial easier. It's not the idea that our leaders are monsters that we have to deal with, he is telling us, but the idea that some people (actually, as he says, 36% of the population) need an idea like this to feel as if they are "participating in the great American tradition of self-reliance and nonconformist, antiauthoritarian dissent." A mature thinker, like Grossman himself, knows that "conspiracy theories are part of the process by which Americans deal with traumatic public events like Sept. 11, "an American form of national mourning," and that--here is the overriding wisdom--"the past, even the immediate past, is ultimately unknowable."

What the New Zogby Poll Tells Us about Propaganda, the Media, and Education

The second Zogby poll commissioned by, this one nationwide, allows a number of revealing conclusions, despite its failure to ask the crucial question of complicity that showed in the first (August 2004) poll that 49.3% of New York City dwellers, and 40.9% throughout the state, agreed that “some leaders in the U.S. government knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to take action.”

Nevertheless, the re-wording of the question about WTC 7 in the second poll and the inclusion of a question about media performance, as well as the addition of the category of “educational level” in the statistical breakdown, provide a useful illustration of the relationship between the mainstream press, education, and the propaganda function of both in America today on issues of political importance.

The propaganda function of “the news” is easily demonstrated. People were asked how they would rate “the US media’s performance regarding 9/11.” 42.8% thought the coverage was good or excellent.

Reaching Across the Corporate Aisle - Scholastic and ABC

In an effort to turn the upcoming ABC docudrama/miniseries "The Path to 9/11" into a propaganda success, Scholastic is teaming up with ABC by offering a "DISCUSSION GUIDE FOR THE CLASSROOM" to accompany the miniseries.

At the website you can find "Student Resource Sheets" and other helpful items that will assist teachers as they indoctrinate their students with the story embodied in the 9/11 Commission Report. A quick glance at the resource sheets reveals them to be rife with omissions. Thomas Kean is one of the key advisors to this miniseries.

Here's a bunch of stuff that isn't in the resource sheets.

Thank for sending this in, Mike.

Ryanair to allow mobile calls at 30,000ft

An article in the "Travel News and Comment" section of the Times of London yesterday (30-August 2006, but reported on Yahoo news today), by Mark Ferry has the headline:

Ryanair to allow mobile calls at 30,000ft

I will not post the entire article here, please click the headline which is a
link to the article.

An important quote from Ryanair spokesman is "Ryanair will soon enable
passengers to use their mobile phones and electronic communications devices in
the air, just as they do on the ground. That means they will be able to pass on
the good news to workmates, friends and family that they are travelling on
another on-time flight with Europe's most punctual airline."

The importance of this article to the 9/11 truth movement is obvious.
The simple question is why all the fanfare about this new technology, when calls
from airplanes were obviously not a problem on September 11th 2001??  Who
can ever forget "Hi mom this is Mark Bingham"??

I've tried to post comments raising this question on the Times website to

American Nostalgic Sentiment For The BBC And Misplaced Trust

American Nostalgic Sentiment For The BBC And Misplaced

The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), has a unique relationship to and
place in history concerning modern world media. It is an entity which it has reported,
documented, educated and dramatised though it's various media the very world in
which it exists.  It is a national and international broadcasting
corporation established by a royal charter.  The organisation, although
having undergone significant changes due to the new-media technological
revolution, remains a behemoth.  The BBC has adapted continuously
over the decades to remain a leading world news and media source.  It has
diversified into foreign markets aggressively using it's impressive heritage, as
a powerful marketing tool.  Regardless of it's market friendly appearances
abroad, the BBC is still a state owned, state funded media conglomerate.
The phrase media conglomerate is important, as the BBC exists in radio,
television, internet, and print publications.  The BBC importantly is a
state owned corporation belonging to the worlds 5th largest economy.
Despite being publicly funded this corporation exists in the free market too,
and raises money across the world, through the sale of it's broadcasts and other
media related materials.  A giant of the media age, disguised often as the
honest broker of world affairs; the BBC is funded by an annual tax of $230 USD,
paid by every household in the UK, and still the corporation is able to sell
broadcasts across the world for even more money!  In 2005 the BBC has the
largest budget of any UK broadcaster with an operating expenditure of £4
billion/$7 billion USD (that's $7000,000,000 US).
