Pennsylvania to cover cost for security at 9/11 site

Pittsburgh - Pennsylvania will pay for security at the Flight 93 crash site to end a dispute over a donation box at the memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the governor said Tuesday.

Landowner Mike Svonavec said he installed the box to cover security costs at the site near Shanksville. But the cash box angered victims' families, and the National Park Service covered it with a black plastic bag.

Gov. Ed Rendell announced a $120,000 grant to pay for security at the site for two years, saying the victims' families should not have to raise the money themselves.

"It also eliminates any need for donation boxes, which transformed this hallowed ground into something less dignified," Rendell said in a news release.

PITTSBURGH - A man who owns property at the site where Flight 93 crashed on Sept. 11, 2001, has demanded millions for his portion of land where a memorial is planned, and he has installed a donation box to help pay for security.

The actions by Mike Svonavec have angered victims' families, who believe he is overcharging and disagree with the need for a donation box.

"That land has been paid for with 40 lives. ... The donation box is an insult to that cost," said Patrick White, vice president for Families of Flight 93.

Svonavec wants $10 million for his 273-acre property in Somerset County, far more per acre than paid for nearby land, White said Tuesday. He said Svonavec told him about his asking price last July and has rejected three offers from the group - the latest for more than $500,000.

"I think Svonavec believes his land, because it has the blood of my cousin and 39 other people, it's worth more," he said.

It purported to debunk the “inside job” claims of those in the 911 Truth Community. Dylan Avery from the Internet movie “Loose Change”, James Fetzer from Scholars For 911 Truth and Alex Jones from Infowars.com were the token representatives of those who consider the US FedGov “official story” to be utter fabrications.

The goal of this analysis is not to expose each and every bogus or misleading aspect of the BBC2 video. It will be to concentrate on a few key examples within this TV show (it is not a fact based documentary) and let you decide whether the series’ tagline - “Separating Fact From Fiction” - is apt or just so much BBC-BS.

President Bush to visit all three sites on 9/11 anniversary

Although specific details haven't yet been released, the White House announced today that President Bush would be visiting "all three sites" on the fifth anniversary of 9/11.

During a press gaggle held aboard Air Force One on Thursday afternoon, Deputy White House spokesperson Dana Perino announced the news when asked by a reporter for a "preview" of the president's planned events for the day.

"No, we have not announced all of those details yet," said Perino.

"The one thing I can say is that the President will visit all three sites on the anniversary," Perino continued.

Perino also said that there may be "additional travel" but that she wasn't "able to reveal that yet."
