The Wars in the Middle East and North Africa Are NOT Just About Oil … They’re Also About GAS

Are the Wars in the Middle East and North Africa Really About Oil?

The Iraq war was really about oil, according to Alan Greenspan, John McCain, George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, a high-level National Security Council officer and others.

Dick Cheney made Iraqi’s oil fields a national security priority before 9/11.

The Sunday Herald reported:

Five months before September 11, the US advocated using force against Iraq … to secure control of its oil.

The Afghanistan war was planned before 9/11 (see this and this).   According to French intelligence officers, the U.S. wanted to run an oil pipeline through Afghanistan to transport Central Asian oil more easily and cheaply. And so the U.S. told the Taliban shortly before 9/11 that they would either get “a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs”, the former if they greenlighted the pipeline, the second if they didn’t. See this, this and this.

Enron, Pipelineistan, UNOCAL and 9/11....Connecting the dots

www.cabaltimes.com/2012/03/13/enron-911-link/Enron and 9/11...Connecting the Dots

In the early days of alternate media coverage of 9/11, there was a lot of attention given to a planned pipeline from the Caspian Sea across Afghanistan, and its implications for United States geopolitical strategies in the region. New information helps connect the dots further between Enron, Afganistan, 9/11 and the planned Caspian Sea Pipeline. The FBI office on the 23rd floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center may have stored investigation files on Enron's partners. There is also speculation that the SEC office in World Trade Center 7 may have been used to store files on Enron. Further, Enron was more closely involved with pipeline than previously thought. In fact, it appears Enron was betting on the successful completion of the pipeline.

Former Afghan Ambassador claims US had prior knowledge of 9-11

In a 2010 memoir, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan during 9-11 and ex-Guantanamo detainee Abdul Salam Zaeef claims that the United States had advanced foreknowledge of 9-11. In the months leading up to 9-11, he was approached by the US ambassador to Pakistan (William Milam) and informed that Osama Bin Laden was about to attack America. To quote (p. 138)......

The Lies That Sold Obama's Escalation in Afghanistan

Wednesday 6 July 2011
by: Gareth Porter, Truthout

http://www.truth-out.org/lies-sold-obamas-escalation-afghanistan/1309706361

A few days after Barack Obama's December 2009 announcement of 33,000 more troops being sent to Afghanistan, in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Defense Secretary Robert Gates advanced the official justification for escalation: the Afghan Taliban would not abandon its ties with al-Qaeda unless forced to do so by US military force and the realization that "they're likely to lose."

Gates claimed to see an "unholy alliance" of the Afghan Taliban, al-Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban emerging during 2009. Unless the United States succeeded in weakening the Taliban in Afghanistan, al-Qaeda would have safe haven in Afghanistan, just as they had before the 9/11 attacks, according to Gates.

Even in comparison with the usual lies that justify wars, this one was a whopper. Gates was deliberately ignoring the serious political split that had become apparent in 2008 between Mullah Omar, the spiritual and political leader of the Taliban, and the leadership of al-Qaeda over fundamental issues of strategy and ideology.

Taliban Leader Says For First Time: Bin Laden Behind 9/11

(KABUL, Afghanistan) -- For the first time, a senior member of the Taliban government that led Afghanistan until the U.S. invasion has admitted Osama bin Laden was behind 9/11.

In an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Youm, the Taliban’s former ambassador to Pakistan says that after the September 11 attacks, Mullah Omar confronted bin Laden.

“The Commander of the Faithful Mullah Omar met with Bin Laden in the presence of a large number of Taliban leaders and Al-Qaeda members, and asked him if they were behind the attacks on the twin towers and the Pentagon,” Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, the former Taliban ambassador, says in the interview. “Osama denied the allegations, but I now believe that Bin Laden planned the attacks without informing the Commander of the Faithful and then lied to him by denying his involvement in the attacks after they took place.”

"The United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings....The primers, which were filled with talk of jihad and featured drawings of guns, bullets, soldiers and mines, have served since then as the Afghan school system's core curriculum. Even the Taliban used the American-produced books,..", (Washington Post, 23 March 2002)

"Advertisements, paid for from CIA funds, were placed in newspapers and newsletters around the world offering inducements and motivations to join the [Islamic] Jihad." (Pervez  Hoodbhoy, Peace Research, 1 May 2005)

Prof. Anthony J. Hall exposes Sebastian Junger's "War" pitch as Obama-era Propaganda for the anti-Semitic 9/11 Terror Wars

Sebastian Junger as a Propagandist for Aggressive Warfare in the Era of Barack Obama's Presidency by Anthony J. Hall

Has Sebastian Junger been cast as a front-line propagandist in the ongoing psychological operation of poisoning public consciousness so that citizens will support the Obama regime’s unconscionable extension and escalation of the 9/11 wars? It certainly seemed to me during my recent trip to California that the telegenic Junger is busily engaged in pumping out a potent mix of strategic disinformation on behalf of the world’s most lethal and unbridled war machine. These days one of the main imperatives of this war machine’s media manipulations must be to assuage the constituency that voted for Obama so that aroused public opinion in the so-called Homeland will not get in the way of the military superpower’s most recent rounds of Eurasian invasion.

Pepe Escobar - one of a dying breed of non-affiliated foreign correspondents who you might remember for his "Fifty Questions on 9/11" (http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/KI11Ak02.html) - dismantles the Times Square bombing myth at the Asia Times.

Article's text below, original found here:

Attorney General Holder has made it clear that "the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack," just as we were told 9 years ago that "evidence linking Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden to the attacks of September 11 is clear and irrefutable," yet the truth has surfaced. My analysis here - http://concarlitos.wordpress.com/2010/05/14/domestic-disturbances-are-so-utterly-convenient/

Intricate shadowplay surrounds the (failed) smoking sports utility vehicle Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad. Earlier in 2010, the Central Intelligence Agency warned al-Qaeda might try an attack inside the US "within the next six months". It did happen - like clockwork - with the added bonus that the alleged perpetrators are even more convenient than al-Qaeda.

Taliban Warned By Powell That Afghanistan Would Be Held Responsible For Harboring Terrorists Who Killed Americans
By J.M. Berger
INTELWIRE.com

Less than three months before September 11, Secretary of State Colin Powell warned the Taliban that American intelligence had "high confidence" that "Afghan-based and other operatives are now planning on carrying out attacks against Americans."

Powell's warning was conveyed to the Taliban by U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan William B. Milam, who specifically discussed Osama bin Laden with the Taliban's representative Abdul Salam Zaeef.

After the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, Zaeef was arrested as an "unlawful combatant" and detained at Guantanamo Bay for three years before being released into house arrest in Afghanistan.

Two cables obtained by INTELWIRE under the Freedom of Information Act detail the warnings, as well as the specific concern about an impending attack against the United States.

Taliban's bombs came from US, not Iran
By Gareth Porter

WASHINGTON - In support of the official United States assertion that Iran is arming its sworn enemy, the Taliban, the head of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Dennis Blair, has cited a statement by a Taliban commander last year attributing military success against North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces to Iranian military assistance.

But the Taliban commander's claim is contradicted by evidence from the US Defense Department, Canadian forces in Afghanistan and the Taliban themselves that the increased damage to NATO tanks by Taliban forces has come from anti-tank mines provided by the United States to the jihadi movement against the Soviets in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
