JERUSALEM — An Israeli inquiry commission defended the actions of the country's troops during last year's deadly raid on a Gaza-bound protest flotilla sailing from Turkey, finding in a report released Sunday that Israel had not violated international law.

While offering some criticism of the way the takeover was planned, the commission's conclusions exonerated the government, the military and individual soldiers of wrongdoing. The findings were unlikely to put to rest the international controversy over Israel's actions, which badly damaged its relations with Turkey and led to the formation of a U.N. investigation.

Israeli naval commandos killed nine activists aboard the Turkish protest ship Mavi Marmara on May 31 after passengers resisted the takeover of the vessel in international waters. The condemnation that followed the bloodshed forced Israel to ease the blockade on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

Bin Laden's whereabouts are unknown, but in August, the US commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, said bin Laden is "far buried" in the remote mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan and that capturing him remains a key task.

Civil rights activist seeks to prove anti-terrorism law a violation of free speech

Ralph Fertig, a 79-year-old professor who has fought for civil rights most of his life, wants to be a public advocate for the oppressed Kurdish minority in Turkey.

The problem?

He's worried the US government, which calls the group a terrorist organization, will throw him in prison for 15 years as a collaborator.

So Fertig has challenged the law as the lead plaintiff in a case the Supreme Court will hear early next week.

Specifically, Fertig is challenging a 1996 provision in the Patriot Act that allows long prison terms for anyone for helps or advocates for terrorist groups in any way. According to government lawyers, the law not only prevents "training" or "assistance" to terrorists, but also the filing of a legal brief or writing an op-ed essay on behalf of a designated terrorist group.

Fertig says all he wants to do is teach Turkish Kurds the philosophies of non-violent protest he practiced as a civil rights activist in the '60s.

The underpants bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, is a curious terrorist. He became disillusioned with his privileged life as the son of a bank chairman and member of the Nigerian elite, it would seem. Rather than pursuing his studies in London, he retreated to Yemen to learn the ways of al Qaeda inspired terrorism.

Farouk was so indiscreet that his father reported him to the U.S. Embassy as a potential terrorist in November. A month later, he managed to get on a jumbo jet headed for Detroit to complete a terror mission. Despite his training in engineering at the prestigious London School of Economics, Farouk failed in his mission. He couldn't mix his explosives to achieve the desired effect. He apparently forgot to detonate the explosive device in mid flight, waiting until just before landing in Detroit to start his task. He retrieved and set off the chemicals to create the explosion in full view of passengers.

What kind of terrorist is this? He doesn't know when, how or where to conduct his criminal enterprise.

And since the "war on terror" is now being expanded to Yemen, it is worth remembering that experts state that the "war on terror" has been counterproductive for keeping us safe. For example, a leading advisor to the U.S. military, the hawkish Rand Corporation, released a study in 2008 called "How Terrorist Groups End: Lessons for Countering al Qa'ida".

The report confirms what experts have been saying for years: the war on terror is actually weakening national security (see this, this and this).

As a press release about the study states:

"Terrorists should be perceived and described as criminals, not holy warriors, and our analysis suggests that there is no battlefield solution to terrorism."

Israel police 'arrest Mossad spy on training exercise'

A trainee spy for Israel's secret service agency Mossad was arrested by Tel Aviv police while taking part in a training operation, media reports say.

The young trainee was spotted by a female passer-by as he planted a fake bomb under a vehicle in the city.

He was only able to persuade police he was a spy after being taken in by an officer for questioning on Monday.

The authorities have refused to comment on the story although Israeli media outlets have expressed their surprise.

'Just a drill'
Mossad does not tell local uniformed police about its training exercises.

The country's commercial Channel 10 said it hoped the agency's operatives were "more effective abroad", AFP news agency reported.

Niva Ben-Harush, the woman who reported the novice's suspicious behaviour to police, told Ynet News that 15 minutes after she made the call, Tel Aviv's port was closed and people evacuated.

She said police initially asked her to come with them and identify the suspect.

"But after a few minutes, they told me it was just a drill," she said.

Poll finds broad support among New Yorkers for death penalty in Khalid Shaikh Mohammed terror case

An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers believe the terrorist thugs who planned the 9/11 attacks should and will be sentenced to death - and two-thirds of city residents say they'd be unafraid to serve on the jury.

An exclusive Daily News/Marist poll found that 77% of New Yorkers agree with President Obama that alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and his four cowardly cohorts will be found guilty in a Manhattan federal courtroom.

"If I'm on that jury, there's no doubt they get a conviction - no doubt," said Larry Amandola, 48, an electrician from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and one of a dozen regular New Yorkers interviewed separately by The News. "I had a few friends who died on Sept. 11 and I worked [at Ground Zero] immediately after. The people that suffered through this have a right to judge them."

I wanted to bring this particular billboard back up to the spotlight since the date is just a few weeks away. Most of us know the elites have some sinister twisted way of projecting what they are going to do. The possibility can't be discounted here.

Notice how the billboard is making sure you notice that date because it's ripped off and on top of the ripped out headline.

Is there any war games, terror drills, or military exercises planned for that day that anyone knows of?

Keep in mind I "SUSPECT" that this is what happened. I don't absolutely believe it, just suspect it.

Radical Muslim loyalists were distraught about US Imperial policies in the East, so they planned a hijacking. It was to be a regular hijacking, with the usual demands in exchange for the lives of the passengers. I suspect that "some" of the 19 hijackers listed were involved.

The US/Israeli intelligence complex caught wind of the plot...Then Along Came A Spider

Some people saw this as a chance to beef up their budget and they made a conscious choice to not only pave the way for it to happen, but, to change the outcome of the hijacking.

There were remote control devices installed in the planes and transponders and thermite based demolition charges placed at the WTC 1, 2, and 7. The reason why they destroyed building 7 was because that was the base information center for this to happen, thus, it and the evidence needed to be destroyed.

I suspect the hijackers had no idea they were on a suicide mission. The first two planes were guided to their destinations by remote control.

Special Agent Thomas J. Ropel III testified at a bail hearing for Niazi that the defendant had been secretly recorded by an informant while initiating jihadist rhetoric and threatening to blow up abandoned buildings. Ropel did not name Monteilh but testified that the agency's informant was the same man Muslims had reported to the FBI as an extremist. In June 2007, the Council on American-Islamic Relations reported Monteilh to the FBI as a possible terrorist, said Hussam Ayloush, the council's executive director in Anaheim.

Ayloush said he was "100% sure" that Monteilh was the informant in question and expressed anger and disappointment that the FBI would infiltrate mosques. He accused officials of trying to entrap innocent Muslims, noting that Monteilh has been convicted of grand theft and forgery in the past. He said Muslims had worked hard to develop a partnership with the FBI -- and had been assured by J. Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The FBI has engaged in “triage,” taking agents off terror and other crimes to respond to a cascade of financial frauds such as the alleged Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, the head of the bureau’s New York criminal division said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was forced to reallocate its manpower in New York to deal with recent frauds involving subprime mortgages, auction-rate securities and Madoff, who prosecutors said confessed this month to bilking investors out of $50 billion, FBI official David Cardona said in an interview.

“We have to work those cases which we think pose the greatest threat,” he said. “In this case, it’s a threat to the financial system and Wall Street.”

Anyone know anything about Black Helicopter exercises that are supposedly being held in a number of US cities? OK...the terror watch list has hit a million NAMES.

In NO PLACE do they say a million people.

SO...

If the name John Smith is on the list then that means EVERY John Smith in America is on the watch list... I think a million NAMES covers just about 99% of America...

This is a clever tactic to put EVERYONE in America on the list but still make it seem like it is only a million people.

If the names on the list are not attached to a certain person than that means that particular name of "Bob Johnson" or "Dan Phillips" can mean that anyone in America with those names are suspect.

I have noticed how the FBI and DHS has carefully made sure to not say "People" on the list...

So...there we have it...we are all terrorists now. Congrats!

He's a criminal, but he "did the right thing" when it mattered - alerting cops to what he feared was a terror plot the day before the Fourth of July.

At about 5 p.m. yesterday, an unidentified thief with a police record broke into a red van that had been parked at 53rd Street and Second Avenue in Brooklyn's Sunset Park for about a month, a source told The Post.

He was stunned when he looked inside - it was filled with gas cans and Styrofoam cups containing a mysterious white substance with protruding wires and switches.

The street is lined with brownstones, and there's a ballet studio and a small Muslim school. So he drove the van 15 blocks to 37th Street and parked it at a desolate waterfront location behind the Costco store and next to some little-used piers.

Then he got out and called a cop he knows from his run-ins with the law.

Confronted with evidence that the Whitehouse version of the 9/11 attacks was a lie, my friend fell back in denial with a question that “Truthers” have heard many times: “I find it hard to believe If 9/11 required the cooperation of so many people, where are the witnesses, whistle-blowers and citizens of conscience who should be stepping forward to admit their part in the government’s murderous, False Flag operation?”

No one mentioned that eight years ago, the Project for a New American Century called for "a new Pearl Harbor" that could move the American people to accept the neoconservative vision of militarized global domination. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich yesterday in Manchester said the country will be forced to reexamine freedom of speech to meet the threat of terrorism. Gingrich, speaking at a Manchester awards banquet, said a "different set of rules" may be needed to reduce terrorists' ability to use the Internet and free speech to recruit and get out their message.

"We need to get ahead of the curve before we actually lose a city, which I think could happen in the next decade," said Gingrich, a Republican who helped engineer the GOP's takeover of Congress in 1994.

The 22 service members are part of the Wyoming Guard's 84th Civil Support Team. The unit "assesses hazards, advises civil authorities, and facilitates military support during emergencies and incidents of suspected weapons of mass destruction," according to the team's mission statement. The 84th is just one of several civil support teams tasked for the DNC in the event that a weapon of mass destruction is either deployed or threatened. Fourteen workers from a Pomona Post Office on Monterey were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center at 1798 N. Garey Avenue in Pomona, California for treatment and decontamination earlier today.
Pomona Valley Hospital spokeswoman Kathy Roche said,
“All fourteen were decontaminated then admitted however, most have since been released and others are in the process of being released.”
Roche also said that,
‘A potential or possible toxin had been found at the post office, but testing of that substance happened elsewhere.”
An employee at Pomona Valley tipped the MTR News team stating some employees at the hospital have been detained beyond their regular hours because shift change workers are having difficulty getting to work due to freeway closures.
