War on Terror
Real conservatives honor US war laws; fakes and fascists lie to break them

Let’s define “political conservative,” view current US wars through that lens, and determine appropriate war policy if conservatism is to be honored.
Conservatism defined: There is variance in understanding, but let’s work with these
Respecting law and order, the US Constitution, and inalienable rights for equal opportunity.
Self-reliance and personal responsibility.
Minimal government intervention for maximum freedom and minimal tax cost.
Law and order is the foundation of society; not much can be accomplished or enjoyed without it. Being American is a political distinction; it literally means citizenry under US and Constitutional law. Conservatives look to teamwork in complex projects and are adamant about personal responsibility for individual performance and cooperation within the law. Government provides law and order, but in a minimal way to maximize our freedom and personal income.

Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich: explaining their war opposition in two brief videos
hyperlinks and videos live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m12d...
The “leadership” of the Democrats and Republicans collude for unlawful Wars of Aggression, torture, rhetoric for more unlawful war with Iran, the destruction of our treaty obligations, and the transfer of trillions of our tax dollars to banksters. By political definition in any textbook, the US is now fascist and not a constitutional republic.
Where is the opposition within these parties? On the Democratic side, Dennis Kucinich is most-often acknowledged as in opposition to his party's "leadership." Among Republicans, it’s Ron Paul. Thanks to the hundreds of writers who work for more than the propaganda of our corporate media, I came across this 3-minute video on the site What Really Happened of a speech Dr. Paul made in the House in February, 2009 that hits the main points of his political philosophy. For Dr. Paul's statement to the Foreign Affairs Committee on rapid and immediate withdraw of US troops from Afghanistan, click here.
Following is a 5-minute speech of Kucinich. Enjoy.

US expands unlawful drone war in Pakistan; violates letter, spirit of all US, UN war laws
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m12d...
The US is at unlawful war with Pakistan, having bombed over 50 sites and killing over 400. the Pakistan government rejects this violation of their nation, but just as the US has no respect for the laws limiting war to a narrow definition of self-defense in Afghanistan, Iraq, rhetoric for more war with Iran, and torture, they have no respect for peace in Pakistan.
Americans receive propaganda in support of US government murder and Crimes Against Peace, such as in this piece from the NY Times that say whatever BS seems most palatable without mentioning US and international law. Other propaganda encourage escalation of this unlawful war. President Obama’s escalation of the unlawful war in Afghanistan will concentrate troops on Pakistan’s border.

Adviser: Obama plans to launch Bin Laden hunt anew
By Agence France-Presse
Sunday, December 6th, 2009 -- 6:18 pm
The United States will launch a new effort to track down Osama bin Laden who is believed to be hiding in the mountains along the Afghan-Pakistan border, a senior US official said on Sunday.
Intelligence reports suggest the Al-Qaeda chief "is somewhere inside north Waziristan, sometimes on the Pakistani side of the border, sometimes on the Afghan side of the border," said national security adviser James Jones.
Asked if President Barack Obama's administration planned a fresh attempt to go after Al-Qaeda's leader, Jones said: "I think so."
Bin Laden was a "very important symbol of what Al-Qaeda stands for" and it was crucial to make sure he was on the run or captured, Jones, a retired Marine general, told CNN's "State of the Union" program.
His comment that Bin Laden sometimes crossed to the Afghan side of the mountainous border contrasted with previous accounts from US officials that suggested the Al-Qaeda chief was hiding in Pakistan.

"I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery.... Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty towards the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings." - Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775. “Give me liberty or give me death” speech.
"Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers, too plainly prove a deliberate, systematical plan of reducing us to slavery." - Thomas Jefferson, August 1774. Obama aggresses, media echoes lie Iran threatens to "wipe Israel off the map." Citizen action?
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m11d...
“Crimes against Peace” is the planning of a War of Aggression. It is illegal under several areas of law wherein all nations bound themselves to prevent the carnage of war: the UN Charter (treaty status), Nuremberg Principles (or London Charter, treaty status), and US military law. US political and media leaders continue war rhetoric to attack Iran, in direct violation of the most important law a nation should uphold (here for encyclopedic background).
This article will provide:
1. The transcript of Iranian President Ahmadinejad’s October 2005 speech that Obama, McCain, Sarah Palin, Vice President Joe Biden, and corporate media contrive as Iran threatens to “wipe Israel off the map.”
2. Video and interview evidence of the extent of criminal political and media propaganda conspiring for mass murder of Iranians.
3. An analogy if these circumstances applied to China and the US.

Ask a veteran: If Afghan war is illegal, US troops and public must refuse deployment
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m11d...
“An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self sustained.” - Mohandas Gandhi, Young India 1924-1926 (1927), p. 1285
CBS news reports that sources confirm the deployment of ~40,000 additional US troops in Afghanistan (two-minute video below). The most important context for troops, officers, and the US public to consider is that if the US war is illegal, we must all refuse deployment and any further engagement. All those with an oath to defend and protect the US Constitution are sworn to refuse such an illegal act (along with being viciously immoral).
Here is my best attempt to outline the legal argument that responsible US citizens must refuse this war and further deployment. Here is my archive of all articles concerning US invasion of Afghanistan.

hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m11d...
Our US Congressional committees’ disclosure of evidence to justify invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan show all of the evidence was known to be false at the time it was spun to the American public. Even a cursory reading of the evidence reveals this fact beyond any reasonable doubt. Our duopoly Democratic and Republican political “leaders” lied to the world to engage in illegal Wars of Aggression. Again, this is fact undisputed from our own government’s documentation.
If you haven’t mastered this lesson on responsible citizenry, to tell the difference between fact and spin leading to war, millions of deaths and conservatively ten times the dead in such suffering they wish for death, and trillions of our dollars for long-term costs, please, again, read my best explanation here.

The Real Intelligence Failure
By Philip Giraldi
Published 11/04/09
Most Americans believe that we are in a terrible dilemma. An increasing number are uncomfortable with the continuing carnage in Iraq and Afghanistan and fearful of the consequences of yet another Middle East war, this time against Iran, but most also believe that our country is threatened by dark forces that seek to destroy us and that extreme measures are justified. Few realize that fear alone is bringing about our transformation into a country driven by constant warfare to the detriment of our constitutional liberties.
OUR TERRORISTS by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed

OUR TERRORISTS: Islamic fundamentalist militants are the enemies of Israel and Western governments, right? Think again. Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed reports.
Once upon a time, the CIA trained, financed and supported Osama bin Laden and his mujahidin networks in Afghanistan to repel the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. After the end of the Cold War, bin Laden turned against the West and we no longer had any use for him. His persistent terrorist attacks against us for more than a decade, culminating in 9/11, provoked our own response, in the form of the ‘War on Terror’. This is the official narrative. And it’s false. Not only did Western intelligence services continue to foster Islamist extremist and terrorist groups connected to al-Qaeda after the Cold War; they continued to do so even after 9/11.

How a Torture Protest Killed a Career By Craig Murray

Editor’s Note: In this modern age – and especially since George W. Bush declared the “war on terror” eight years ago – the price for truth-telling has been high, especially for individuals whose consciences led them to protest the torture of alleged terrorists.
One of the most remarkable cases is that of Craig Murray, a 20-year veteran of the British Foreign Service whose career was destroyed after he was posted to Uzbekistan in August 2002 and began to complain about Western complicity in torture committed by the country’s totalitarian regime, which was valued for its brutal interrogation methods and its vast supplies of natural gas.

More recently, we have seen Gordon Brown, Lord Mandelson and Tony Blair (again) involved in a "deal" with Libya, resulting in the early release of the Lockerbie bomber.

What to do with US traitors who wage Wars of Aggression? 1: Truth & Reconciliation. 2: Prosecution.
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d1...
A traitor is one with allegiance to the US who wages war against the United States. Lying the American public into war that takes trillions in long-term costs and kills over 5,000 US troops is treason. US political “leaders” who wage illegal and horrific Wars of Aggression, the worst crime a nation can commit, are actively attacking our Constitution and values. Neither political party will prosecute these crimes.
So what do we do?
Offer Truth and Reconciliation.
US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are traitorous, un-American, and cowardly
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d1...
If I’m successful in proving that the current US wars are TRAITOROUS, UN-AMERICAN, and COWARDLY, please take that description and run with it. Let’s look:
TRAITOROUS: The etymology of “treason” is the Latin “traditionem and traditio, a surrender of what is handed over or one’s tradition (tradition having an ironic doublet of the root). In US law, it is defined as “Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies.” What is the United States other than the US Constitution and our laws? If someone swears allegiance to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and uses authority and force (levies) against the Constitution, that is rationally defined as treason. If acts against the Constitution cause US troops to be attacked, the meaning of treason has tangible war-like and enemy-like results against the United States.

US national security IS NOT threatened by Afghanistan
hyperlinks and videos live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d1...
The wars formerly known as “Terror” were not in response to any documented national security threat from Iraq, Afghanistan, or Iran. In fact, all 16 US intelligence agencies have repeated that THERE IS NO NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT from any of the nations the US has illegally invaded or threatened to invade.
Given all US intelligence agencies agree there is no national security threat, and the rules of war demand a nation be either under attack or imminent threat, or authorized by the UN Security Council to use force, President Obama and the “leadership” of both parties continue impeachment-level lies to the American public in ongoing Wars of Aggression.

Iraq and Afghanistan don't need US troops for security. They can ask the UN if they want help
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d1...
One of the arguments for US troops to remain in the two countries we invaded is that even if our wars were mistakes, it’s our duty to stay until those countries can manage their own security. If US troops leave, we’ll subject civilians to escalating violence.
As eminent Princeton philosopher Harry Frankfurt distinguished in his 2005 Bestseller as a strictly academic term, that rhetoric is bullshit.
When political “leadership” makes that argument, it’s a lie of omission. Without the comprehensive information that Iraq and Afghanistan have full authority within their governments to make that determination for themselves, that statement is misleading Americans into thinking that US security is their only option. It is not.

Are US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan well-intended mistakes? What we now know from the evidence
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d9...
Some Americans justify the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well-intended interventions for the good of their people, and the security of our nation and the world. They believe that the President MUST have had evidence of national security risk before taking the last and dire step of invasion.
This is a crucial point. If there was credible evidence of imminent threat to US national security, then the wars were justified under the UN Charter for self-defense. However, if the evidence was not credible, or fabricated, then these wars are illegal Wars of Aggression. So which is it?
Americans and the world no longer need BELIEVE anything; the specific evidence used to justify invading two countries is now public knowledge. All we have to do is match the government's claims to the exact evidence and you can decide for yourself. This article lays it out.
First, as you may recall, there were four basic claims of fact presented by political "leadership" to invade Iraq:

Strategy for national security: Department of Peace or Wars on Terror?
hyperlinks and video live at source: http://www.examiner.com/x-18425-LA-County-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d5...
“Some people project their fears onto others. They believe that if we are aggressive enough, and attack the ‘other,’ we will be safe.
But security does not come from violence. Indeed, all of the people and empires that have tried to defend themselves by attacking others fell in a dramatic fashion. The saying "those who live by the sword shall die by the sword" comes from the simple fact that violence cannot provide lasting security.
Instead, real security comes from cooperation, justice, dignity and freedom. When there is cooperation, and when people enjoy justice, dignity and freedom, they are not motivated to commit violence on others. That brings real security.” – Prayerfully.net

AfPak: Escalating War of Aggression

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

Senator Lieberman, Secretary of State Clinton, and former UN Ambassador John Bolton have resumed rhetoric of a United States attack upon Iran. As my other articles have demonstrated, that rhetoric is false and intentional propaganda attempting to justify another US War of Aggression. Let’s consider the wisdom of Americans we all look to for guidance on American principles and courage: our founding fathers, Abraham Lincoln, and up to Teddy Roosevelt. If you respect their contributions to American ideals of freedom and Constitutional rights, please give each of them a few minutes of your attention to consider their reflections. Their lives deserve your thoughtful consideration. The following is from my brief, “War with Iraq and Afghanistan, rhetoric for war with Iran.” http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/41708
