Klein: Bush admin creates crises to 'enrich themselves and their friends' (9/11 is mentioned as one of them)

On Thursday's edition of The Colbert Report, bestselling author Naomi Klein argued that the Bush Administration creates crises in order to "enrich themselves and their friends," drawing parallels between the torture of prisoners and the economic bailout being provided to Wall St. by US leaders.
Previously, Klein called out the sprawling economic crisis as just another example of the Bush 'shock doctrine,' a key component to the ruling regime's corporate agenda.
"Now, the name of your book is 'The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism,'" said host Stephen Colbert. "Okay now, what is the 'shock doctrine'? 'Cause, that sounds like a great way to get information out of a prisoner."
Amused, Klein responded, "Well, there really is a parallel. If you really want to get information out of a prisoner, you have to put them into a state of shock, and when they're in that state, they'll kinda do whatever you want."
"Exactly!" exclaimed Colbert. "So, you agree that we should be torturing prisoners. You just said that. Those are your words, madam."
Laughing, his guest played off the satirical remark.
"Whole societies also go into states of shock when there's a crisis, like when there's a terrorist attack, or a huge natural disaster, or a huge economic crisis," said Klein. "Something happens, people don't know what's going on, and they'll kinda do whatever people in authority want them to do."
Klein continued: "They use shocks to enrich themselves and their friends... People are becoming shock resistant, which is wonderful because they remember the way this administration used the shock of Sept. 11 to build the Homeland Security industry; How Rudy Giuliani went into that industry himself as soon as he left office. They remember how the war in Iraq was used to privatize the government."

With "Bailout" Passed, Doomsday Talk Will End
I suspect much of last week's doomsday predictions will cease now that the "bailout" bill has passed.
Lets see if there is talk of an investigation of the financial meltdown and prosecutions.

I like her up to a point.........
How she can not "pull the trigger" and even mention the fact that nothing about
9/11 makes any sense, boggles my mind. Her book sales would skyrocket if she did.
I emailed her about this. Never received a reply.
She needs to become a truther....before it's too late.
She is right on and her theory has apparently evolved.
My understanding of her theory, "The Shock Doctrine", is that those in power have policy changes and packages of new laws waiting on the shelf, which are enacted when a crisis happens, while people are in shock. In this instance she acknowledges that they "CREATE" crises to enrich themselves etc.. Maybe now she will take a look back to the 911 event with her new realization about CREATING crises rather than just waiting for them to happen. Come and join us Naomi. We could sure benefit from your wisdom and intellect.
Different strokes for different folks...
Having worked in the comedy business for well over ten years [not a comedian but behind the scenes in various roles] and focusing upon and supporting political satire and political-social humor, I fully appreciate what the emotion of laughter can accomplish when trying to reach the average citizen about difficult subjects.
We are at the stage where we need to reach the "middle grounders", those same average citizens just mentioned above, and the tactics to do so range as wide as the range of people who walk the streets. The "best" proceses of "how best" to reach the public are most likely NOT going to be found or proffered by those in the 9/11TM who were the "revolutionaries" from the beginning...per se.
Its my biased opinion, that the single best piece of video work that the 9/11 Truth Movement has ever created is Bruno's, Katie's' and WAC-LA's bit in response to Mahr where Katie ended up giving the middle finger to Mahr which contemporarily and ultimately, represents the same middle finger that most people will want to give all the "gatekeepers and liars" about 9/11 someday. Brilliant satirical-humoros-pertinent work!
The best work up until now....and that's only because of the audience share of The Colbert Report...
Naomi Klien's amazingly responsive, adroit, to the point, reflexive and funny verbal sparring, in the hands of, and through the brilliance of Colbert, was able to participate in a funny conversation that was able to penetrate into through the back door, and "open just a crack" many, many people's closed minds to the "tie-ins" between 9/11 and all the crap that has come down as a result. Brilliant!
These two videos sit as number ones in their potentials to penetrate the emotional barriers out there.
I've worked with major comedy show writers and SNL actors and writers for MAD-TV, the Cris Rock Show and The Show Show with David Cross...[many Emmys shared between all of them...]...and Colbert's and Klein's work here was stunningly and equally effective to some of the best of the best. This is because of what Naomi is talking about..the CRIME OF THIS AND LAST CENTURY...without mentioning it!
Sometimes Truthers are simply standing too close to the forest to see the trees.
There are a lotta Truthers out there...and they are simply NOT doing what many of us Truthers who write in theses forums do...they are working THEIR CROWDS in the ways that they know how.
This is such an example...as was Griffin's labotimizing of Taibbi...
Lighten up folks...good things are happening all around the horizon...
But...its still gonna take a while, and the positive results may NOT include Cheney "Hangin from an old oak tree..." for quite some time.
[Now I have REALLY dated myself...and anyone who recognizes that refrain is a 60s activist who most likely is worried as hell right now that their investments made as they ended being a "hippie" are tanking...and their four decade vacation is about to end!]
