US could absorb a terror attack and bounce back: official

A US security official on Wednesday said the country was capable of withstanding another terrorist attack and bouncing back, saying Americans needed to put extremist threats in "perspective."

Michael Leiter, head of the National Counterterrorism Center, said despite recent successes there was no guarantee that intelligence and law enforcement agencies could prevent every attempt by extremists to attack the United States.

"We're not going to have a perfect batting average and its important that Americans understand that," Leiter told a conference on intelligence reform.

"It's important that we approach this with national resilience that in fact shows that this country is not going to be defeated by" extremists, Leiter said.

"We do have to put the threat in perspective," he said.

His comments came amid heightened US and Western alerts over potential terror attacks against European cities, and after a wave of arrests by France's anti-terrorism squad.

Leiter said security agencies faced the threat of "low-probability," large-scale attacks involving possible weapons of mass destruction as well as "high probability", smaller-scale attacks such as the shooting rampage at Fort Hood last year that left 13 dead.

But terrorist attacks should not be viewed as "cutting into the fabric of our society," he said.

President Barack Obama made similar remarks in a new book by Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, saying the country could handle a potential attack.

"We can absorb a terrorist attack. We'll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever ... we absorbed it and we are stronger."

Bouncing back

And I expect part of the 'bouncing back' they have in mind will be the public's willingness to grant still more powers to the intelligence services and the military.

Expect the whole false dichotomy between 'openness' and 'freedom' and 'democracy' on the one hand and 'safety' and 'security' on the other to be pushed even harder in rhetoric.government/pundit rhetoric.

If only we could instead 'bounce back'' by driving all of these scumbags out of town; people who claim they're incapable of performing one of the fundamental tasks for which governments were supposedly set up in the first place--protecting its citizens against (supposedly) outside attacks.

It is interesting to speculate

as to what kind of attacks we might "absorb".
Who is going to attack us?
This time, the attackers have to be very, very careful about who sees the attacks, who is videoing them, who comes and gets evidence about the attacks, etc.
We are on to them.
They better make it good!
If they want to make it stick that it is al Qaeda, they better make it a lot better than 9/11, and not leave so much evidence that it was an inside job.

On the other hand, with total control of the press, msm and alternative, why should they even care?

Absorption

America has become the official paper towel of nations. “We can absorb a terrorist attack”. Who the f*ck is “we”?

I thought the scrapping of the Bill of Rights and the trillions of bucks spent on “security” and war were supposed to STOP terror attacks. Now Americans are supposed to “absorb” them?

"We're not going to have a perfect batting average"

No. Did this guy just compare your family being blown up with baseball? Where do they find this endless stream of Homeland Security cretins? It’s like there’s a bottomless pit somewhere in Jersey.

Barack Obama Accused of Exaggerating Terror Threat for Political Gain

• Pakistani diplomat launches scathing attack on White House
• European intelligence claims raised terror alerts 'nonsensical'

By Simon Tisdall and Richard Norton-Taylor

October 07, 2010 "The Guardian" - -A US terror alert issued this week about al-Qaida plots to attack targets in western Europe was politically motivated and not based on credible new information, senior Pakistani diplomats and European intelligence officials have told the Guardian.

Have we won "The War On Terror Is A Fraud" campaign?

Am I reading too much in between the lines here in that I see a significant change in national approach regarding the fear of terror?

Its been clear to me for sometime now that all the alleged "leaks' coming out of the military's secret files via special footage, "leaked reports" by generals, the Assange affair, and the McCrystal-Patraus OBVIOUS set-up and change [that made it look ike Obama was in charge when we all know he's not...but the Pentagon-Intel Agencies are], are all signals of the Pentagon wanting to get out of Afghanistan. So, I do tend to read between the lines...a LOT.

But this "shift" on the WOT is pretty clear to me and it indicates that we have made significant progress in exposing the War on Terror as being a fraud. I even hear alotta suspicion about the WOT on progressive radio too.

If I'm perceiving all of this properly, well, good job gang...the TRUTH will rule.

Now lets hope that we can somehow make use of the Special Report [ordered by Obama] from a Special Commission exposing the LIES that were told by the White House in their early on reporting about the Gulf Oil Disaster.

After all, IF Obama can order an unbiased Special Commission to investigate his own White House's lies about the BIGGEST ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER in U.S. history, including the economic tentacles owned by the ENERGY COMPANY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX that are tied directly INTO the White House, well then might we not be able to make the same point about him calling for a REAL investigation into the 9/11 Attacks...aka...for THE BIGGEST MILITARIZED FALSE-FLAG EVENT AND OVER-REACTION IN U.S. HISORY, including the tentacles owned by the Military-Intel-Security Industrial Complex that are also tied directly into the White House?

I think so anyway.

New Terror Attacks?

In my opinion it is just more fear tactics although I was listening to Alex Jones the other day and his guests were David Icke and Jesse Ventura. Both men figure the NWO Boys are getting desperate and need another attack to keep the sheep in line. They were even talking about a staged UFO attack. I guess that is why there is so much talk about UFO's lately. Even on the MSM! What a crazy world we live in. Well I still think 9/11 truth would blow this whole thing wide open. I don't know about the rest of you but I am on a mission when it comes to 9/11 truth. WE MUST HAVE A REAL INVESTIGATION TO BLOW THIS WHOLE THING WIDE OPEN AND BRING DOWN THE INSANE NWO BOYS! It's our only hope and I have a gut feeling that we will prevail. I just hope we can keep the collateral damage down. If we all stand united and put our differences aside I think we can.

Al-Qaeda or Al-Tricko? 'US cries wolf to rev up world for domina

RussiaToday | October 08, 2010

European intelligence officials and senior Pakistan diplomats have accused the U.S. of crying wolf after it issued a terror alert for Europe earlier this week. The UK's Guardian newspaper goes on to allege the actual purpose of the alert was to justify a recent increase in drone attacks inside Pakistan. American-German historian F. William Engdahl, says the timing of the terror alerts has led to a questioniong of U.S. motives...

Thanks Joe

Excellent clip. Just about sums things up.
