MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell ripped former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for choosing to put the city’s Emergency Command and Control Center in the World Trade Center despite being advised by professionals in his administration not to place it in an “obvious terrorism target.”

“Rudy Giuliani learned absolutely nothing from the first deadly attack on the World Trade Center,” he said. “As the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaches, most of the media will continue to portray him as one of the heroes of 9/11. Know this. There is no more fraudulent public image in our politics than Rudy Giuliani, hero Of 9/11.”

Giuliani was interviewed by

Giuliani was interviewed by Peter Jennings on ABC in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and he let the following statement slip out:

"I was informed that the Twin Towers were about to collapse..."

Two questions for Giuliani which have (AFAIK) never been asked of him on camera:

1. *Who* told him that the Twin Towers were about to collapse, and on what basis? (The WTC towers were designed to withstand multiple jet impacts).

2. In the (accurate) foreknowledge that the buildings would come down, why did he fail to inform the hundreds of police and firefighters who were in the Twin Towers of this information/probability, and to get the hell out of there as soon as possible?

In my book, Giuliani is complicit, on account of at least the criminal dereliction of duty, perhaps worse, in the mass murder of FDNY and NYPD personnel, and others.

"According to Captain Michael Currid, the sergeant at arms for the Uniformed Fire Officers Association, some time after the collapse of the North Tower, he sees four or five fire companies trying to extinguish fires in Building 7 of the WTC. Someone from the city's Office of Emergency Management tells him that WTC 7 is in serious danger of collapse."

OEM Was Operational

According to this report the OEM was up and running at the same time Giuliani was deciding to run away.

"As OEM staff began calling in from all over the city, the sound of the second plane striking Tower 2 was heard by dispatch center staff over their radio. This attack caused the internal alarms in Building 7 to activate, warning that there was no water pressure and that the emergency generator had been activated."

His OEM people got a call to cut and run. But the firefighters and police inside the Twin Towers were left out of the loop.

"Building 7 housed not only the OEM and its EOC, but other government agencies as well. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) were among the tenants. The building had its own power supply and private building security, and it had been built to be resistant to floods and storms. As the North Tower collapsed, federal staff members were laboring to remove boxes of contraband and other evidence for safeguarding."

"The OEM staff was ordered to evacuate Building 7 immediately as a precaution, but interview sources indicate they did not initially respond with a sense of urgency. They calmly collected personal belongings and began removing OEM records, but they were urged to abandon everything and leave the building quickly. Those interviewed believe that order saved their lives."

I want to know who gave the order. This is criminal!
