Pentagon Announces September 11 Concert - Can You Spell Propaganda?

Pentagon announces September 11 concert

The Pentagon would hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing today.

"This year the Department of Defence will initiate an America Supports Your Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation".

The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on September 11, 2001, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black.

Word of the event startled some observers.

This is quite disturbing. I'm not sure exactly how many things are wrong with this idea. I think it is pretty obvious that a lot of the family members of those that died on 9/11 are already upset with the use of the 9/11 tragedy by this administration to promote more killing and spawn more violence. Now, on the 4th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, the Pentagon will spit in the faces of those mourning by using the tragedy yet again to try to bolster support for a war which has nothing to do with 9/11, and which was planned long before 9/11 as well.

Seeing as how this is being organized by the Pentagon it should be readily apparent that this is nothing more than an overt form of propaganda, after all, that is a function of the military brass isn't it?

I'm trying to think of the best recourse to this event. All I can imagine at this point is two fueding groups of Americans, those that are angry at the administration for using 9/11, and those that buy into this overt propaganda.

So, what is the correct recourse or response to this event? Is the Pentagon hoping to start such a feud of 'ideologies', as they put it, on the very anniversary of 9/11? Would responding to such an event be a good idea or a bad idea? What percentage of those mourning on 9/11 would respect such actions by the Pentagon?

There are a bunch of articles out on this right now, but they all seem about the same, feel free to comment or post any articles that might go a bit further in depth.

There are a lot of

Back to the Pentagon demonstration, would be great to get about a hundred thousand truthers out there with big signs and handing out literature.

We could turn this around on the gov't.

The idea of a pentagon

The idea of a pentagon freedom walk is amusing. I hope americans are not so dumb as to think this isnt more of the pentagon in its spin cycle: spin washes whitest.
