"America at a Crossroads" premiering on PBS in April 15, 2007

America at a Crossroads is a major public television event premiering on PBS in April 2007 that explores the challenges confronting the post-9/11 world — including the war on terrorism; the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan; the experience of American troops serving abroad; the struggle for balance within the Muslim world; and global perspectives on America’s role overseas.
Aimed at creating a national dialogue surrounding the crucial issues explored in the series, an extensive media and outreach campaign in more than 25 communities accompanies the series. The campaign features screening events with the filmmakers and their subjects in discussions with United States military personnel, leading policy experts, leaders of the Islamic community, scholars from across the country as well as members of the public. Integrated Web and educational initiatives further extend the campaign.

Thanks for the heads up, 'tater. I guess we can all say "ugh!" in advance. If it's anything like the last PBS piece I saw on "the rise of anti-Semitism in the Middle East", which was one of the most racist "Evil Muzzle-em" hit pieces I've ever seen, this will likely be all rah-rah-War-on-Terra.
Similarly, on the evening after the large rally at the Pentagon last month, NPR had a short piece which downplayed the implications of the demonstration against the occupation. The only sound bite was of a counter-demonstration shill who said that we were allowed to march by the grace of the soldiers who were over there fighting for our right to free speech. I ask you -- where does one begin with that load?

I suspect that this will be similar.
If it's propaganda and lies, we need to identify the propagandists and liars behind it. Then, I suggest pushing to take away the public funding. "Pull it." If it [PBS] can then sustain itself, force a name change to the Propaganda Broadcasting System..

This is truly sickening. They have framed this in such a way as to completely endorse the mythical "clash of civilizations".
Quite a website, they have put serious resources into re-energizing the myth.
They bring Robert MacNeil back for this? I am truly disgusted.
Unfortunately, they had over a month of public events all across the country that have just ended. If we had caught this in time, perhaps we could've got some truthers in and shaken things up a bit.
We could flood their contact form with reality-based comments and at least put them on notice that we are not sitting still for this propaganda. We could also start a phone in campaign to all the local PBS stations to voice our protest. Perhaps a PBS boycott?
Why is it that we ever even consider that the msm will give the truth any airtime at all?
I better take a break as I feel like punching my monitor right now and it takes a lot to make me this angry.
