NIST Denies Access to WTC7 Data

Director of NIST: Disclosure of WTC7 data "might jeopardize public safety"

http://cryptome.org/nist070709.pdf

FINDING REGARDING PUBLIC SAFETY INFORMATION
Pursuant to Section 7(d) of the National Construction Safety Team Act, I hereby find that the disclosure of the information described below, received by the National Institute of Standards and Technology ("NIST"), in connection with its investigation of the technical causes of the collapse of the World Trade Center Towers and World Trade Center Building 7 on September 11,2001, might jeopardize public safety. Therefore, NIST shall not release the following information:

1. All input and results files of the ANSYS 16-story collapse initiation model with detailed connection models that were used to analyze the structural response to thermal loads, break element source code, ANSYS script files for the break elements, custom executable ANSYS file, and all Excel spreadsheets and other supporting calculations used to develop floor connection failure modes and capacities.

2. All input files with connection material properties and all results files of the LS-DYNA 47-story global collapse model that were used to simulate sequential structural failures leading to collapse, and all Excel spreadsheets and other supporting calculations used to develop floor connection failure modes and capacities.

The two datasets that they did release...

Are stripped of these critical parameters, but it's likely that useful information is contained therein.

And from: http://s3.amazonaws.com/nasathermalimages/public/images/NIST_FOIA/NIST_F...

EDIT: The law which NIST is using to withhold this data is:

Other than changing the law, which we all should work on, NIST is a division of the Commerce Department, which is under the Executive Branch.

Checking out

I started uploading these files to google code yesterday.

http://code.google.com/p/nist-wtc7

Only the gravity models so far (under source/browse) .. I'll upload the rest later today.

There's a wiki available on that page that I presume I can give people access to.

I'm currently using this to view the apdl files.
http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/AnsysMode

Edit: All done. Seems like the Cryptome data is a subset of the data released in January (it has Case 'B' but not 'A' and 'C' thermal data and it's also missing the LS-DYNA model data).

Excellent

Thank you.

Another interesting dataset:

Time For Hard Ball?

At least by denying access they are tacitly admitting that they have the stuff. The next step is to mysteriously "lose, shred, destroy, misplace the stuff".

As I have been saying for way too long here and at other places, only a high level subpoena will do the trick, followed by a very noticeable civil suit. Surely there must be a few Nobel Laureates who would get behind such a legal action.

The public safety argument is provocative as it is misleading. NIST is the weakest link in the official lie of 9/11 Go after them.
Let me say that again...
The public safety argument is provocative as it is misleading. NIST is the weakest link in the official lie of 9/11 Go after them.

So how much longer will the Truth Movement content itself with no master strategy plan? No serious plan to bring a swarm of well planned lawsuits against various persons within NIST? The anti-war movement placed MILLIONS of people in the streets of the world before the illegal Iraq invasion of Bush, and that historic outpouring of people accomplished "nothing". The military bases continue to be built both in Iraq and Afghanistan. The killing goes on to this day. The 9/11 wars are in fact expanding into Pakistan and other Caspian oil rich areas. But Donald Rumsfeld will not travel to France anymore. Why? Because he'll be arrested and tried in the International Criminal Court for war crimes. He knows it.

Petitions are useless folks and endless street protesting can only go so far. Who cares given that millions were ignored a few short years ago? Legal actions, lawsuits and subpoenas are the way to go. When will the Truth Movement start playing hard ball? When the planet's dead? Please don't get lost in delusional thinking that anything else will work instead.

John

Hard Ball?

I believe it is unreasonable to think that the huge 911truth movement could ever have a singular focus.

I know people who focus as you advise. A worthy approach.

It assumes those who sit on the judicial bench are acting in good faith. I'm not sure they do or that they don't.

Gandhi and King are considered the greatest activists in the world for the past 100 years. If we actually understood what they stood for, we might use protest more impressively.

Less that a year ago I called for Gandhian resistance against left adversaries. I do not favor less honorable ways of challenging those who should be our allies.

Most truth activists consider adherence to nonviolence as meaning "I didn't strike anyone today." This essentially sees nonviolence superficial and foolish. They must disagree that Gandhi and King have anything to offer.

Tthe public safety argument makes sense to me

NIST releasing their model data would make it easy to prove how fraudulent their claims are, and the model would be easily modified to show the building was brought down by controlled demolition. Such undeniable proof of the 9/11 cover-up would likely provoke riots in the streets, and hence releasing the model data is arguably a threat to public safety.

Funny, but true

Ironic. Safety = Deception

Rather, funny because it's true

Or at least it's arguably true, though I contend that risking riots in the streets is safer than the alternative of letting the real terrorists masterminds and their accomplices continue to walk free. As the FOIA denial didn't explain their reasoning for claiming public safety concerns, I recommend replying back with that argument.

By the way, of course I meant "prove how fraudulent their claims are" rather than "fraud and" in my previous comment, seems I accidentally picked the wrong option on the spellcheck.

Really, Really.

Yeah, I'm sure the media would widely report the fact that NIST's WTC7 report is a fraud. But maybe Shyam Sunder and others are worried about AE911Truth's fundraising drive to investigate them.

AE4911T

is a cheritable not-for-profit, so they can certainly raise any amount of money they wish, from any source..

I suggest a collaborative effort, betwee AE911T and NYCAN - to set the stage for a legal showdown with NIST..

Times have changed, who knows what a judge might order..

Public Safety?

It seems to me that failure by NIST to disclose what CAUSED the first (okay, 3rd) free-fall collapse of a steel building, would be a violation of the public safety. Isn't this type of "collapse" a new phenomonon? Shouldn't engineers and architectural students the world-over be studying this so that we can "design around" the failures of Bldg 7 (unless, ho-hum, it was actually something crazy like CD)... me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

Question? - Does anyone know if requests for OSHA...

Does anyone know if the OSHA records of their air and bulk samples from 9/11 had ever been released?

OSHA took all kinds of samples from 9/11.
Air and bulk samples taken by OSHA at the site...3,600 (includes
metals, asbestos, silica, and other volatile organic compounds)

Last page of pdf - http://www.osha.gov/as/opa/911/pg18-24-jshq-v13-2-winter2002.pdf

I dont think so....

To file one a written request should be sent to:

Guaranteed to be interesting.

Good idea

NIST also is in possession of 10,000 photos, and innumerable videos, and thus physical historical information, surrounding the 9/11 event, which they have NOT RELEASED. We ought to be able to get all of that as well.

But those samples you mention - those would have a chain of custody attached to them, so that idea is sheer brilliance. We need to get those samples. We need to sue for those as well.

Maybe we could even sue for some WTC steel..? That would be helpful.

Link For: "10,000 Unreleased Photos Etc.

Don't doubt what you say, just wanting the link.

Here's what I have on that

NIST NCSTAR 1 pg xxxvi [pdf pg 38] - September 2005
NIST acquired and organized nearly 7,000 segments of video footage, totaling in excess of 150 hours and nearly 7,000 photographs

Lawsuit

NYCAN should file a class action lawsuit against NIST for release of all files and data pertaining to both WTC7 and WTC1 and WTC2, and obtain them by the power of subpeona. Their fraud cannot be lost to history. The information must be retained, for the sake of public safety and the public trust.

Hard ball is right, I only hope we can mount such a cause, raise the needed funds for legal costs, etc. etc.

They cannot be permitted to get away with this, since it amounts to both scientific fraud, and by extension the cover up, of a crime of historic proportions.

The people of New York have a right to that information, and their interests, and their safety, is best served by the release of such information, not in its withholding.

Whoever managed to get the director of NIST to make this statement - bravo!

Now let's take it to its logical conclusion, as someone else has suggested, NIST is the weak link in the chain of the OCT public myth regarding what took place on September 11th, 2001. Therefore, go after them, and never stop, using every resource we can muster.

This is very important.

Thank you for bringing this story to our attention.

Date?

Why is this dated JUL 09 2009?

Was this just released to the public but signed last year?

Is this news for today or is it old news?

It is still good info and new to me, but the distinction is important if we are going to spread this around.

Thanks.

Slow process?

I'm not sure about the chronology, or who asked for what. I think some data was released to Cryptome a couple of months ago. There are some other links over here:
http://911blogger.com/news/2010-03-26/any-news-nist-wtc7-data

The first link there mentioned NIST had 2 terabytes(!), and so far we have about 700 megabytes. Though a lot of that 700M is images, which are presumably output files as opposed to input data, so maybe the 2 terabytes are mostly just output data too.

The fix is presumably in these currently withheld 'connection models'.. probably not much data.. maybe someone will be nice enough to leave theme on a usb stick somewhere, or upload them to Russian server?

Thanks

Also, this is the sort of thing that you, or others, can write more than one story on, thus giving blogs more opportunities to disseminate this info.

Short articles on the background of this info, an overview of it, the history of how it came about, why it is bs, etc. would all make good reading.

This is a huge weak-point in the official story. No one with a science, legal, or text background can fail to see how ominously ridiculous the secrecy about this info it.

Not trying to make work for others, but just some ideas for anyone with the inclination.

NIST did not release the finding until earlier this year

A lawsuit had to be filed to get them to release this finding. It's existence was unknown until they send it earlier this year, first by just mentioning it in the FOIA responses that were previously posted here. They were asked for the actual finding by the director, and eventually NIST released it. That's why it's old but new... obviously it's something they were not looking forward to letting out.

-J

Who filed the lawsuit Justin

Who filed the lawsuit Justin and can they be encouraged to file more and/or join forces with some
well funded entity? Hollywood donations ought to be pouring into legal work for the biggest bang for the buck.

Good folk

The two lawsuits that forced the release of this document were filed by supporters of AE. One of them is a regular poster here. They are researchers like the rest of us. Not lawyers or millionaires. A chipin for $4k on AE's page last year provided the funds to file the suits and obtain this admission by NIST. It's a hard fact that financial resources are the limiting factor in much of what is happening. The spears of the movement (whomever each of us decides they are) need funding. We need lawyers, programmers, writers and solutions.

Thanks Justin. Glad to hear

Thanks Justin. Glad to hear that some money was set aside for that. Now we need to attract more money.
I will think on this....

Congressional Run

Besides fund raising for lawsuits - which are dependent on the courts not being corrupt, members of ae911 truth should run for Congress, then they can get much greater press coverage and it would be great to have honest people elected to Congress, which is now an oxymoron for pack of liars.

Robert Bowman

almost won in Florida while being outfunded by many many orders of magnitude, as a 9/11 Truth candidate, for which he was attacked unrelentingly. That was a few years back.

Now a person might run on 9/11 truth and accountability as part of their platform and win because of that, anything's possible.

As G. Edward Griffin has pointed out, the only way to get the pirates off the helm is to come to power.

A good direction but as Ellen

A good direction but as Ellen Brown suggests for related matters in the so called "Financial 9/11"

we stand a better chance at getting things done on the state level

"Might jeopardize public safety" is orwellian for...

might break mindcontrol spell of public.

hmm

Martin Hinckley must have gotten to them.

Or someone higher up...

got to both NIST and Martin Hinckley. This "endangerment" argument is something we all need to be aware of, as it may be used against 9/11 researchers in the future.

Thanks, Brett -- looking forward to your documentary.

Overly simple

The statement made no elaboration on just why he would prevent such release. We have various laws which conflict with one another, but the public's need to know is far superior-- we severally and as a national group in a Democratic state, require Truth else we have no Democracy. And furthermore, there is no compelling public safety issue that could be prevented by the release of this data. The NIST should have to prove why this would have to be blocked.

By default our Democratic need to have transparent and accountable government is far superior, in the layers of rights and laws, to a law that has the singular purpose of covering up a massively grave crime committed by those currently in power and their predecessors. We have overwhelming evidence, virtually every man, woman and child is in prison with far less evidence. This man has no right to make such a declaration unchallenged. Think of him and people like him as treasonous psychopaths. They have no actual validity. We wouldn't sit back and discuss things with a man that went in to shoot up a McDonalds as if he were due reasonable consideration. These people have done far far worse either with their own hands or in support of the greater apparatus that has.

This whole thing begs the question, why, so long after Beverly Eckert was murdered (in the same way JFKjr was murdered) to prevent a public trial of 9/11, why haven't we refiled a law suit in her honor? Why can't this be picked up by We the People? Don't we have standing? This terrible false flag operation was an attack on all of us-- to undermine our Democracy and steal vast sums of many from our now effectively empty treasury.

To me it's simple. Either we accept horrendous moronic fascist dictatorship or we don't. By pretending as if these people have any ligitimacy at all and failing to treat them as the horrendous criminals that they in fact are we are effectively accepting fascism and it's rule over us. They are forcing us to argue over things that have no validity whatsoever. It is no longer a question whether 9/11 was an orchestrated false flag operation.

We could even seek money damages for broad classes of people, including those in foreign lands, that have been mass murdered by these thugs or otherwise harmed in one form or the other. They have wrecked our nation but we can restore it through aggressive and still yet civil, countermeasures. We are partners in crime if we do anything less.
