Cheney Admits that He Lied about 9/11

What Else Did He Lie About?

The New York Times’ Maureen Daud writes today:

In a documentary soon to appear on Showtime, “The World According to Dick Cheney,” [Cheney said]  “I got on the telephone with the president, who was in Florida, and told him not to be at one location where we could both be taken out.” Mr. Cheney kept W. flying aimlessly in the air on 9/11 while he and Lynn left on a helicopter for a secure undisclosed location, leaving Washington in a bleak, scared silence, with no one reassuring the nation in those first terrifying hours.

“I gave the instructions that we’d authorize our pilots to take it out,” he says, referring to the jet headed to Washington that crashed in a Pennsylvania field. He adds: “After I’d given the order, it was pretty quiet. Everybody had heard it, and it was obviously a significant moment.”

When they testified together before the 9/11 Commission, W. and Mr. Cheney kept up a pretense that in a previous call, the president had authorized the vice president to give a shoot-down order if needed. But the commission found “no documentary evidence for this call.”

In other words, Cheney pretended that Bush had authorized a shoot-down order, but Cheney now admits that he never did … and Cheney acted as if he was the president on 9/11.

Cheney lied about numerous other facts related to 9/11 as well.  For example, Cheney:

  • Falsely claimed that spying on Americans, torture, the Patriot Act, the Afghanistan war, the Iraq war and the “war on terror” were all necessitated by 9/11 … when none of it was true

Obviously

a classic limited hangout. Keep up the good work.

Cheney Lied About PEOC Arrival

The Commission claims he didn't arrive until "nearly 10:00, perhaps 9:58." (23 minutes after Pentagon hit)

We need to find out about his orders re: FL 77 and why he lied about his actions and whereabouts. The Mineta testimony is grounds for a wrongful death lawsuit against Cheney for Pentagon attack since he was tracking the plane and did not alert the Pentagon.

9:33 according to SS records.

Since he lied, then he probably had influence on time keeping by others.

See page 6 of this document.

The WH had access to the best radar data on the planet so they could know what was happening for all presidential movements. They want us to think they were counting on CNN for details. Baloney.

According to Agent Garabito they could see AA77 when it was 30 minutes away.

In the video he says 30 minutes. So that would be ~150 miles out.

If he had 30 minutes, why the hell didn't they get some fighters up to figure out what was going on? This is ludicrous!

"I think an act of heroism just took place on that plane."

So Cheney should have given the shoot-down order, but when the news about a plane-crash arrived in the bunker, what did he say according to Eric Edelman?

"I think an act of heroism just took place on that plane."

Those inside the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) below the White House learn that an aircraft is down in Pennsylvania. (This turns out to be Flight 93.) Many of the people in the PEOC wonder whether military fighters shot it down. [Washington Post, 1/27/2002; 9/11 Commission, 7/24/2004, pp. 41] National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice later claims that, like her, Vice President Dick Cheney initially thinks, “it must have been shot down by the fighters.” [Hayes, 2007, pp. 339] However, Eric Edelman—Cheney’s national security adviser, who is also in the PEOC—will later recall: “The vice president was a little bit ahead of us.… He said, sort of softly, and to nobody in particular, ‘I think an act of heroism just took place on that plane.’” [CNN, 9/11/2002; CNN, 9/14/2002] Yet the Pentagon does not confirm that Flight 93 was not shot down until after midday (see (Shortly After 12:00 p.m.) September 11, 2001). [Newsweek, 12/31/2001] And the phone calls from Flight 93 that indicated a passenger revolt took place are only reported later on. [Washington Post, 1/27/2002]

I think, that I even saw Cheney saying that ("act of heroism" at Flight 93) during a television-interview. But I cannot find it anymore.

The LIARS paradigm.

"Integrity" ! he snaps., when asked what he requires of friends [he knows the answer to that one]

"Honesty" ! he quickly responds, when questioned of his demands of work-mates.

yet

when asked the foremost of his own faults, as he himself sees them.,

He pauses in deliberation. In query.
a moment of consternation even..............as he tries in vain to identify his own worst fault.
He would have us understand
that he doesn't spend too much time thinking about it.

Crooks trying to keep their stories straight

This is another example of why they were so determined to not have even the controlled 9/11 Commission question Cheney and Bush separately, and that no recordings be allowed, only handwritten notes.

and where was the indignation

in the media at this obvious weasely modus operandi? were they even under oath?

No, they weren't even under oath

when they were interviewed by the 911 Commission, as that was one of the stipulations Bush and Cheney insisted on also.

The stipulations they stuck to were

- no oath would be taken
- no recordings of the interview would be taken
- no transcript would be taken by a stenographer
- they would be interviewed together in the oval office

and the 911 Commissioners just rolled over and accepted them.

Were they even permitted to keep their notes?

I vaguely recall one report indicating that the notes taken by the interlocutors were actually confiscated on their way out the door, but I haven't seen a good reference for this.

Does anyone have info on that?

Luckily.... Good News.

Then I guess that means 70%

Then I guess that means 70% had better get ready for this:
