LiveLeak Exclusive : Interview with Ron Paul

Shawn Wasson speaks to Texas congressman and republican presidential candidate Ron Paul exclusively for LiveLeak.com

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=de1_1185477767

Lots of 9/11 talk. Must listen.

---------------------------------------------------

EDIT: A snippet from this interview was posted earlier this week without context, in which Ron Paul is asked to state his opinion on 9/11 as a government-orchestrated event:

Shawn Wasson (interviewer): The suggestions from these people who you were talking to in this video that 9/11 was orchestrated by the government, you do NOT support that theory?

Ron Paul: Absolutely not.

The full interview concludes with;

Wasson: We learned a lot today, we learned that Ron Paul doesn't, in fact, think 9/11 was orchestrated by the governement. We did learn that. I think.

Paul: I am glad we got that clarified, once and for all.

The full interview provides a broader context for the above quotes, and everybody should listen to the full interview before passing judgment on Paul. -r.

I don't know if Paul's campaign will be checking this blog, but I find Paul's interpretation of "al Qaeda" to be a doctrinaire establishment position that I certainly disagree with;

Deconstructing "al Qaeda".

That said, if I was a dyed in the wool Republican, Paul is the only candidate I would endorse, even with his "absolutely not" position. He's handstands above the other cronies.

ron paul

spin it how you like chaps.

we know that Ron Paul knows that 911 was an inside job.Everyone knows that.Ron I´m afraid has chose to side step the issue by saying the government "goofed
up" goofed.Jezzuss.

could Ron be one of those Gate keepers folks?let´s face he states quite categorically the government were not involved in the attacks,,he reminds me of Chomsky in a way.

Whoa!!! Hold on now, let's not get carried away...

Whoa!!! Hold on now, let's not get carried away...

A SECRET CABAL that has infiltrated and taken the upper hand inside the government and military is responsible for 9/11, and of course the events leading up to it, and those afterwards. "The Government" as in "the entire government" is NOT responsible. Perhaps some members of congress are part of the cabal, but congress didn't debate perpetrating the 9/11 attack, etcetera. If they had I believe Ron Paul would have voted "NO!" Think about it, to say that "the government" was responsible for 9/11 implicates Ron Paul, and the government/military "patriots who question 9/11."

Remember that Paul said government investigations like the 9/11 and Warren commissions are basically whitewashes, and he supports a new independent-of-government investigation into 9/11 and etcetera. I'm trying to remember an old quote, perhaps someone can help me out, I believe the quoted was an industrialist named Howe from the 1800s, and it goes something like, "When a man judges himself the verdict is usually favorable." I believe this is what Paul was saying, and why the government and military must be prohibited from investigating itself.

Second

Every member of Congress knows who exactly in the government was responsible for 9/11. It's horrifying to think that they don't know - then they'd really be stupid and unfit for office. Who knows what Ron Paul is up to? It's too soon to know, but he could have given a clearer answer that was more on the side of truthers. He's a brilliant speaker and has a certain charm and candor, so he should have given a better, more open answer letting in the possibility of a rogue operation in the government and military. We know he knows.......

From "The 9-11 Intelligence

From "The 9-11 Intelligence Bill is More of the Same" on the House Floor - 10/11/2004
http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2004/tst101104.htm

Finally, I am skeptical about the reorganization of the intelligence community in this legislation. In creating an entire new office-- the National Intelligence Director-- we are adding yet another layer of bureaucracy to our already bloated federal government. Yet we are supposed to believe that even more of the same kind of government that failed us on September 11, 2001 will make us safer. At best, this is wishful thinking. The constitutional function of our intelligence community is to protect the United States from foreign attack. Yet ever since the National Security Act of 1947, the agencies created have been meddling in affairs that have nothing to do with the security of the United States. When considering the CIA’s overthrow of Iranian leader Mohammed Mossadeq in the 1950s, or CIA training of the Muhajadin jihadists in Afghanistan in the 1980s, it is entirely possible the actions of the CIA abroad have actually made us less safe and more vulnerable to foreign attack. It would be best to confine our intelligence community to the defense of our territory from foreign attack. This may well mean eliminating the CIA altogether and turning intelligence functions over to the Department of Defense, where they belong.

Popping our own tires.

It's unfortunate, though calling ourselves the truth movement, many of us keep lying to ourselves on this matter. "I am glad we got that clarified, once and for all."

It really does alarm me and others, we will be done in by our own..dare i say.."sheepleness". The same thing so many of you accused democrat voters of when they believed the whispers about getting out of Iraq, before last election.

And it was obvious then, its obvious now.

Has Ron Paul Been Threatened

Assuming either interview is not faked or edited, Ron Paul makes is VERY clear he believes the government had absolutely nothing to do with the events on 9/11.

That's a VERY disturbing claim, and leads me to believe he's been threatened...

... I say this only because within the interview, the interviewee plays audio clips of Ron Paul hinting that 9/11 was a covered up in some way... now he's saying the official story stands. And he went out of his way to say this.

So now what do we do?

And by the way, the argument that he's the less of the evils is not the answer.

Reprehensor, I assume you're

Reprehensor,

I assume you're telling me to check my e-mail. Sorry dude but I had e-mails disabled, but I just enabled them-- so whatever you wanted to say, you'll have to send it again.

Also, thanks to whoever added onto my post!

How well researched is Dr Paul on this subject?

Many prominent 9/11 researchers and advocates of the 9/11 Truth Movement were originally supporters of the Official Conspiracy Theory, until they took the time to conduct a detailed review of the news reports and eyewitness testimony. I would be interested in whether or not Dr Paul, being the busy Congressman that he is, has *actually* taken the time to do a thorough analysis? I suspect that he has not.

This isn't to say that I oppose his Presidential candidacy, merely to postulate that he may not, himself, have all the facts. It *is* interesting, however, that in this one area, Dr Paul is supporting a position held by Big Government!

I have never understood why

I have never understood why so many people here think Ron Paul pro-9/11-Truth.

Cheers to that !

Since when did the 9/11 Truth movement become the support Ron Paul movement? His statements on 9/11 have been consistently inadequate. Expecting help from some guy because he talks about the constitution is incredibly naive. Gravel is better that Paul on 9/11 Truth anyway...

Further, getting riled up about the political options or solutions is pure distraction, in my opinion. Forget impeachment (and elections), let's make our goal straight up arrests.

Exactly, and impeachment at

Exactly, and impeachment at best is a starting point. But its clear the pol's will continue to drag feet on it to lure in energy. We need to focus on education and show direction, and we all know that direction is to have arrests of EVERYONE involved. I would suggest everyone get a big more educated on Paul's commentary regarding 9/11, not put words in his mouth, and not make speculation which is so dangerous..furthermore, to stop looking at Alex Jones as a pope. He is human.

And do we want a president who said he will pardon those who committed crimes during this tenure, to "help the nation heal". I don't. He has some stances, but you can't sacrifice such important things for others. We need it all. We need to remember, only we can bring back the Constitution, get 9/11 truth out there, get justice..make this future good. Only us.

Then who would you support?

Ron Paul stands against the war, the Federal Reserve, the Patriotic Act, and the IRS. He is for small federal government. No other candidate can claim these things, and neither of the other 2 true anti-war candidates, Kucinich and Gravel, have ANY chance of defeating Hillobama. Ron Paul DOES have a chance of defeating Rudy McRomney, since it is a total farce.

Again, as a 9/11 Truther, who would you support?

"Our country's founders cherished liberty, not democracy."
-Ron Paul

Are you serious?

Dude, Ron Paul has said 100 times that he supports a new investigation into what happened on 9/11/2001. What's your game dude?

Politics does not offer a solution for 9/11 Truth IMO

My game started years ago, I'm not impressed by people calling for a new investigation. If this were still 2003-2004, then I would be impressed by that.

I see the entire political process as a sham. It's function is to convince the population that they have had some hand in selecting their leaders. In other words, the presidential election process is only a public relations device to help diffuse dissent. This might explain why the election publicity started a year early this time, the controllers are desperate to distract the American public from their growing discontent.

I focus my truthing energies on the public at large. Politicians and other authority figures have proven again and again that they will not honor truth in regards to the attacks of Sept. 11th.
The people, once educated, will do what is right or, at least, stand a better chance of doing the right thing than ANY politician.

"my game"

It's sounds to me like he's playing both sides of the field - telling you what you want to hear, and you are over-interpreting. I've noticed Kucinich doing similar. When he's speaking to a Truther, he plays it up. When speaking to anyone else, he makes no mention. I think they are both far better than the mainstream candidates. But our goal should be to keep getting them all speaking about it, and not fall into the game of pitting ourselves against one another, Kucinich v. Paul, or whatever.

we dont need

Ron Paul to believe anything about 9/11, we need him to restore this constitutional republic, of, by, and for the people - the rest of the dirty business will sort itself out when finally the people have their say.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Physics/Science/Mathematics do not lie, only people do.
9/11 was an INSIDE JOB

Well said. If the White

Well said. If the White House gets a decent bloke who believes in upholding the costitution it wont matter what he personally believes at the onset because the truth will come out and the republic will be restored.

I agree CattleRustler

And let us not forget Ron Paul is a politician, and a very good one. Backing 9/11 truth would be political suicide right now. Lets be honest. Every politician in congress with half a brain knows 9/11 was government sponsored. It's our dirty little secret.

I agree 100% - I support Ron

I agree 100% - I support Ron Paul not because of what he "says" about 9/11 but what he says about the Constitution, The FED, The CFR, The IRS/Income Tax, The 10th Amendment - State Power vs. Federal Power, Individual Rights, Freedom, Liberty, to name a few.

Liveleak is the Fox News of video sites, but this is a great

interview. It is the first hostile or biased interview of Dr. Paul that I have heard, and his straightforward, cool-headed answers demonstrate how sharp and fearless he is, even in hostile territory. A presidential attribute?

"They took it from the top to the bottom, we're gonna take them from the bottom to the top." - Dan Wallace

So why has Ron Paul become the "9/11 Truth" Candidate?

It must be his other policies and positions that certain leaders in the movement like so much. In light of this unequivocal denial of support for the 9/11 Truth movement, maybe some us should question why he would be promoted so intensely by certain members of the movement.

Also, some people may not understand that libertarianism can be bastion of ultra-conservatism, in that it is the epitome of an individualistic, capitalist, free-market, fend-for-yourself ideology.

"The Central Intelligence Agency owns everyone of any significance in the major media." ~ William Colby, Former Director, CIA

Alex Jones

I think everyone is making too much of this.

If Ron Paul came out and said "9/11 was an inside job", he would be smeared until he was completely out of the race.

Also, Alex Jones has come out and said that he knows of prominent people who think 9/11 was an inside job, however will not say anything to the public because these people have trusted him with their beliefs. And seeing as Ron Paul consistently goes on the Alex Jones Radio Show, it is entirely possible that Paul has secretly told Jones that he knows 9/11 was an inside job. I mean just look at Alex Jones's websites-- they are covered with Ron Paul stuff. Don't you think Alex Jones would have to hear it for himself that a candidate believes 9/11 was an inside job to support him? I think we all just need to have a little faith that Alex knows what he is doing.

Perhaps, but if we are

Perhaps, but if we are inclined to give Paul a pass on 9/11 truth (or on some manner of willful ignorance on the subject), we would have to do the same thing for Amy Goodman, Air America hosts, and many of the other Gatekeepers. They can also claim that they are at least getting out some good information about the crimes of the state that the more corporate outlets aren't covering, and that to take a bold stand on 9/11 would be professional suicide. They can claim that if they are deep-sixed, they will be replaced by even more limited entities. Yet we write angry letters, we confront them in public, and we encourage others to turn away from them because they have failed the most important litmus test.

We really can't have it both ways.

I've heard time and again that if Paul looked likely to take the nomination, he would be Kennedied. AJ has said it, Paul has said it himself. AJ talks about the election being fully scripted already. So why is so much of the truth movement's time and money diverted to a campaign that essentially offers a temporary bully pulpit which isn't being used on the issue that unites us? Most Americans haven't a clue what he's talking about with the Fed or the IRS or other deeper economic and political realities (as important as many of us know them to be), so I don't consider his willingness to talk about them terribly brave in the electoral soundbite "marketplace of ideas." If he can't be elected, then playing along with "Muslim reactionaries did it" will only reinforce the need for a military police state to protect us from them long after his 15 minutes is over.

Is it too much to ask that he hedge his answers a little?

Excellent breakdown..

Amen.

We need to treat everyone equal, its an important part of not falling into becoming what we are against. Its an important part of maximizing effort and not being used.

Saw this coming...

From a mile away. I warned numerous people in the movement not to put your eggs in one basket with this one. Not tooting my own horn or anything, but man I am good. haha.

But for real - Regardless on what he thinks, it doesn't matter at this point.
We've got enough behind us right now to keep pushing forward!!!

Would be insane at this point for him to go public

Ron Paul most DEFINITELY has reservations about the official story.

(see audio below in signature)

ISN'T THAT ENOUGH ?!?!?!

These wolves are chomping-at-the-bit for him to announce it's an inside job so they can then go in for the kill.

Ron Paul is playing on HIS terms - not theirs.

I will say it again

I can't imagine why anyone thinks U.S. Senators, members of Congress or presidential candidates are going to commit political suicide and publicly support 9-11 Truth. Remember what it took you to come out for 9-11 Truth in your private life. At least for me, it was a big decision that took me months.

These politicians are deep into the system. People in the system don't attack the system. It's their life blood, their definition of who they are.

I'm not saying don't go after them constantly. It's just that the change isn't coming from them - it never has and it never will.

Tell the people the Truth. When enough of them hear and understand, the politicians will become afraid. That's when things get interesting.

As Douglas Adams said: "Anyone who wants to be in power should never be in power".

Judgement passed

"The full interview provides a broader context for the above quotes, and everybody should listen to the full interview before passing judgment on Paul. -r."

Either he doesn't believe 9-11 Truth, or he's lying to save his ass and his chances. Which is better?

I'm tired of liars.

What is he lying about? Has

What is he lying about?
Has he ever said he believes in an inside job? No
The interviewer asked him if he supports people who say he believes what they believe (inside job)...he said no.
That doesn't mean he's against an investigation or 'against' us who believe in an inside job. He's against the concept of 9/11 truth (ones who believe in inside job) as telling everyone he believes it too (beyond merely holding an investigation)...a myth propagated by the doofus doing the interview. Saying he's lying and that you "know" Paul believes in an inside job is just fanning the flames these neocon twits keep starting.

Had he been asked if he was open to a new investigation, and said no...then there's a problem. But that's not what happened. it was twisted into this ridiculous ulterior motive of truthers, to push Pauls buttons to get the answer neocon kiddies want to magically vilify us...but not so magical if people are actually going around saying he knows up and down it's an inside job when they have no evidence for it, regardless of how open he is to the possibility and a new investigation.

"The most perfidious way of harming a cause consists of defending it deliberately with faulty arguments."

This is not really news

He never said he supported a theory that the US "orchestrated" 9/11. Based on this quote, he may well think they LIHOP or they even MIHOP a bit.

The bottom line is he has promised a new investigation. Now I doubt we would get everything we want from such an investigation in the unlikely event Paul wins. However, we would probably get something from it. When you compare him to McCain, who thinks the sun shines out of Lee Hamilton's October Surprise and is on planet Zog anyway over Iraq, you have to be at least a little bit impressed with Paul.

strawmans

this jackass interviewer is using nothing more than a strawman to try and get Paul to say what he wants to hear.

he's putting out this idea that 9/11 truth tries to 'spin' Paul's 'openness for investigation' automatically belief into inside job.
Which student scholars for 9/11 truth haven't done at all. Nor has any of the 9/11 truth crowd as a consensus...we support him because he's open for a 9/11 investigation.

Now whether Paul believes it or not doesn't matter much. Paul has never said he expressly believes in an inside job. He may have hinted he doesn't deny the possibility, is open for investigation...blah blah...but he hasn't been some hardcore 9/11 truth candidate to say 'inside job!'.
He is, however, 9/11 truth in the sense he's open for a new investigation. 9/11 truth is afterall, getting truth out of 9/11. not necessarily belief in an inside job. To say anything close to it is political suicide, regardless of your hunch of what he knows. He hasn't explicitly said so.

Any 9/11 truth believer of inside job theory needs to not equate Paul as a believer of it. I don't think that has happened much at all.
It is upon these cretins like Michele Malkin and this Liveleak nobody, and the scores of neocon bootlickers to pin the blame on us who do believe in an inside job to say that we're spinning Pauls views simply because we support him and his openness for an investigation (which is technically 9/11 truth)

It's not Paul, his buttons were pushed by this guy on something that doesn't really exist.

One question for the Ron

One question for the Ron Paul camp.

If Cindy Sheehan et al went to him to ask for the impeachment of Bush and an investigation now of 911, would he have them arrested as Conyers did?

He is lying about 911 - whether he was spooked by the perps or not.

Why bother with him if he is going to lie more.

Then who's your candidate? Is Mike Gravel saying "Inside Job"?

No candidates will say this because like it or not, saying 9/11 is an inside job is political suicide. Ron Paul is our best hope because he will uphold the constitution and get to the root of the problem (Federal Reserve, etc.), AND he is for a new investigation into 9/11. It makes no difference what he says here, what matters is what he plans to do.
