Leahy willing to reinvestigate 911

Someone needs to get this info on the front page: Senator Leahy has been talking about a "Truth Commission." Many are concerned that this will be part of the "look forward, not back" desire of Obama, but he seems sincere in looking back AND PROSECUTING IF CRIMES ARE UNCOVERED.

"We need to be able to read the page before we turn the page," Leahy said. "We need to come to a shared understanding of the failures of the recent past."

Leahy said that commission was hampered by a lack of cooperation from the administration, and he would like a new commission to have access to everything they needed.

He said he was offering the idea to see how much support it had.

I sure hope someone who can do it records the Tavis Smiley PBS special Wednesday night, “MLK-A Call To Conscience” and gets it uploaded to bittorrent so it can be widely shared.

Listen to the interview with Smiley on today’s (Monday) Democracy Now: looks like lots of good stuff about “America .. greatest purveyor of violence”, how he was despised by all major media after that speech, how his next sermon was to be “Is America Going to Hell?”, reasons for assassination, contrast with Obama’s war policy, and more. The higher quality recording, the better! (I don’t even have cable.)

While Comcast and AT&T may be licking their wounds today, tomorrow they'll be unleashing their lobbyists and smear merchants in an effort to strangle Net Neutrality.

Our next steps are crucial. As this issue comes to a head at the FCC over the next few months, we'll need to keep up public pressure on the FCC, lobby members of Congress and continue to debunk the industry lies about Net Neutrality and reclassification. And we'll be counting on you to step up again if Chairman Genachowski starts to waffle on protecting the open Internet.

Those are the stakes. Now we're in for the long haul. Can you take a couple minutes and do three things for Net Neutrality?

Glenn Greenwald inadvertently makes the case for 9/11 truth

Salon.com columnist Glenn Greenwald posted an article yesterday titled, U.N. Report finds Israel "summarily executed" U.S. citizen on flotilla, (http://is.gd/fEauO). In the article, Greenwald addresses the obvious culpability of a party involved in a crime who destroys or withholds evidence pertaining to the crime, and then distributes its own edited version of the facts. Here is a direct quote, "In no other situation would a party to a conflict who steals all of the evidence, withholds it from the world, and then selectively releases its own blatantly distorted, edited version of a fraction of the evidence be trusted. The opposite is true: that party would immediately be assumed to be guilty precisely because of that very behavior of obfuscation; that behavior is the behavior of a guilty party." Greenwald is speaking about Israel in his article, but he could easily be referring to the U.S. government's similar actions with the available evidence and subsequent presentation of the facts pertaining to the attacks on 9/11. The FBI's apprehension of security camera tapes at the Pentagon, their destruction of the audio tape interviews with air traffic controllers, as well as the destruction of the Able Danger investigation materials illustrate some of the ways in which our government "stole" the evidence pertinent to a crime investigation. The subsequent report by the 9/11 Commission which asserted there was no information about an Abel Danger program, and purposely omitted sworn testimony by WTC employee and eyewitness, William Rodriguez, FBI translator Sibel Edmonds and U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta from its final report demonstrate further efforts by our government to withhold evidence which would directly conflict with the story it wanted to present to the public. By Mr. Greenwald's standards of proof, the U.S. government actively participated in a deliberate misconstruction of the evidence pertaining to the attacks on 9/11/2001, and therefore, "that party would immediately by assumed to be guilty precisely because of that very behavior of obfuscation. That behavior is the behavior of a guilty party." Exactly.
