Network: Truth is stranger than fiction.

I recently saw the classic hit movie "Network" for the first time. Hands down one of the best movies ever made.

If you have not seen it, you will be shocked by how this decades-old film has succesffully predicted, with stunning accuracy, the hypnotic-like control the mainstream media currently holds over the masses. Here, truth is definitely stranger than fiction.

If you have seen this movie, you will find the following MEDIA CLIP to be especially enlightening.

God help us... if by now, we are not yet "MAD AS HELL!!!"

ya, just saw this recently

ya, just saw this recently myself.. definatley showed what is wrong with the mainstream media and the american public..

Great film

I watched it recently as well. Got my kids into it, even though they think it's a little "weird". The best part is the monologue that Ned Beatty (as the network exec) gives to Howard Beal in the corporate boardroom. It totally captures what's wrong with the world, and it's hard to believe that bright people were aware that these problems existed that long ago. Actually, Edward R. Murrow was saying it even earlier.

Anyway, I heard that George Clooney is working on a live production of this for the fall (he did one of "Fail Safe" a few years back).

Interestingly, I think

Interestingly, I think awareness of the fact that corporate media is just propaganda has actually DECLINED over the years. If you got back to the late 19th C you'll find working people didn't trust official media organs AT ALL, and recieved most of their information from the (semi) underground labor press. The internet has taken this idea of "citizen media" to a whole new level, and people are finally gettig wise again, perhaps more than every before. The internet is a treasure.
