Huffington Post Conflates Obama "Birthers" with "9/11 Truthers" and "Fake Moon Landing Idiots"

In addition to this absurd conflation, Ben Cohen blames the 9/11 Truth Movement for not getting Bush and Cheney impeached.

Ben Cohen: Why the Birthers Matter

[Beneath a Youtube embed of an Obama Birther passionately making her case at a conference, Ben Cohen writes:]

It's easy to dismiss the woman as a half baked lunatic and lump her in with other conspiracy theorists on the fringes of society. She is of course, and belongs with the fake moon landing idiots and 9/11 Truthers. But the fervor with which she states her case, and the extraordinary reaction of the audience is indicative of a far, far greater problem.

The Obama Birther Movement claims that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, and is not a United States citizen. At a National Press Club session, New York preacher James Manning declared Obama "the most notorious criminal in the history not just of America, but of this entire planet."

Lou Dobbs, Liz Cheney, and a whole host of conservatives have done little to quell the rumors, and have even helped promote it.

There is of course, no evidence for the assertion. Obama was born in Honolulu in 1961 to an American mother, and a Kenyan father. And that's the end of the story.

The 'Birthers' have literally pulled it out of their backsides and are banking on extreme ignorance, racism and anger to promote their cause. Unfortunately, it seems to be working as hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition demanding he provide proof of his birth (thanks to sites like World Net). Conspiracy theories are not unique in America - it's a national pastime, and generally speaking fairly harmless. As Ben Smith writes in Politico:

Belief in obscure, discredited theories is a constant in a country with a history of partisan division -- a country in which, a recent survey showed, 34 percent of the public believes in UFOs and 24 percent believes in witches..

Yearly trips to Sedona, weird Internet chat rooms, and the occasional feature on the History Channel are about as much as the average conspiracy theorists needs -- it's enough to keep them quiet for most of the time, and provides good entertainment for everyone else.

However, the belief in vast conspiracy theories can also be hugely damaging as it distracts people from real issues and keeps them focused on exciting fantasies that make them feel important. The 9/11 truth movement was enormously helpful to the Bush Administration as it provided a giant distraction from the colossal crimes they committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. If their energies had been directed in a positive way, there's a good chance Bush would have been impeached and Dick Cheney thrown in jail. Alas, the 9/11 truth movement dedicated its time to proving the U.S government tried to kill thousands of its own people in exchange for gold/political power.

The Birther movement can be compared to the 9/11 truth movement, perhaps not in scale, but certainly in its potency. It is another example of a scared, confused population unable to rationalize why their jobs are being shipped abroad, their health care costs are spiraling out of control, and the prospect of putting their kids through college is moving rapidly from slim to none.

The true reasons for this have been well documented. The United States government has been systematically bought out by giant corporate interest that have undermined the interests of the public. While the banks are entitled to welfare in times of crises, the people are not, and must fend for themselves, riddled with debt financial uncertainty.

But to understand this requires education and time, something far too many Americans have gone without. Instead, they lash out with fear and hatred at the nearest object.

That object happens to be a highly educate, serenely confident black man who epitomizes everything they are not. The Birth certificate nonsense has nothing to do with Obama's credibility as a U.S citizen. When the Nazi party blamed the Jews for Germany's economic woes in the 1930's, no one seriously believed they had a case. The fact is, as a highly educated, skillful sector of the population, Jews were often better off than average Germans during times of economic uncertainty. They were resented for it, and a theory was developed to legitimize the hatred.

The Birther movement is a racist movement that could quickly target others if left unchecked. Barack Obama has round the clock protection from the best trained professionals in the world. Minorities around the country do not, and could well be on the receiving end of the Birther's ire should they get bored of the birth certificate gibberish.

And the chances are, they probably will.

Good grief folks. I can't even type what I feel about this Ben Cohen guy without breaking any site rules.

Help me out.

Don't Get Mad, Get Even - Maintain The Activism

Huffington "brass" have ties to AOL and CBS - corporate propaganda outlets.

Our activism is working as evidenced by the continued attacks.

9/11 is a very important psychological tool to the ongoing agendas of the private interests trying to reshpape the world.

We don't need the major media in order to reach the public.

It would not be surprising to learn that claims of Obama's lack of constitutional qualifications are in fact true and that it is hoped by Obama's handlers that the public eventually discover this possible truth. In this case it would be argued that constitutional requirements are unimportant and lead to an erosion of the nation's most important document.

This article utlizes common psycholically distracting and divisive tools regularly utilized by the major media - culture, race, gender, nationality and fear.

Ironic

Someone had posted a comment on the Oliver Stone blog piece on JFK that had mentioned the possibility of having a greater ally in Huff Post than we had previously thought. Well, as we can clearly see here, this is not the ally we need. It's a shame that they lay blame on US for not having Bush impeached because we wasted too much energy trying to prove the Bush administration was trying to steal gold. What is so sad is that he is willing to publically bash a whole group of people, many of us with widely different opinions, and do it with such a complete lack of understanding as far as what we are trying to achieve or what we even basically believe or agree on. Another example of high exposure for uninformed people. The blind leading the blind, the ignorant teaching the ignorant.

The love that you withhold is the pain that you carry

Had to write him

This is the text of the letter I just sent him;

Good afternoon, Mr. Cohen.

I am writing you in response to a passage I read on the Huffington Post. I am not a "conspiracy theorist", and I am not an Obama "birther", I do not believe the moon landings were a hoax. I do however spend a fair amout of time reasearching the events of 9-11. I am not a nut, I am an IT technician, I am educated, and I am in full control of my mind. I am having a difficult time understanding how you came to the conclusion that "the 9/11 truth movement dedicated its time to proving the U.S government tried to kill thousands of its own people in exchange for gold/political power" and I am also having a difficult time understanding why you believe that if my "energies had been directed in a positive way, there's a good chance Bush would have been impeached and Dick Cheney thrown in jail." I don't see how trying to prove that the world has been tricked into believing a certain version of events would provide a "distraction" from the colossal crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I agree, there were major civil and moral violations perpetrated by members of the Bush Administration, and I certainly agree that they should all be tried for treason and/or war crimes. I do, however, feel it is unfair and ignorant of you to lay blame on people demanding accountability for the greatest terror attack on the United States for Bush and Cheney not being impeached. That was due to lack of cooperation in Congress and I don't see anything else that could have made that any more possible. There are plenty of questions left unanswered about 9-11, and demanding those answers for the honor of the fallen is a noble cause. Denying that there is or has been a cover-up about this event is simply naive, and it only serves to distract from a real debate and discussion on the topic because you demonize anyone that questions the official stance. I am not going to shove a bunch of facts in your face, I am not going to tell you that you are wrong, I am just asking you to please do some research of your own about 9-11, and ask some questions yourself about some of the events of that day before demonizing a whole group of people that are simply trying to get answers and closure. You have a public venue for your writings, people deserve to have the truth reported to them. Rise above the rest of the crap floating around out there and demonstrate some journalistic integrity. Thank you for your time, Mr. Cohen.

Sincerely,

Dave Nehring

The love that you withhold is the pain that you carry

fake moon landing idiots and 9/11 truthers

If Obama was born in the United States or not means nothing to me. He is a NWO puppet plain and simple. Every president since JFK has been one bar none. What kills me is that they compare the Fake Moon Landing thing with the 9/11 truth movement. It 9/11 truth movement is the greatest thing to happen to this country and the rest of the world since our founding fathers wrote the constitution and bill of rights. Before I found out that 9/11 was an inside job I was sound asleep. I saw everything in black and white. I grew up believing we were the good guys and the Soviet Union were the bad guys. I knew the JFK murder was an inside job but just figured it was a political power struggle. I figured LBJ was behind it. This was before the internet. The net changed everything for me. When I found out 9/11 was an inside job it shook me to my core. I realized everything I believed in was shit. I did as much research as I could. I couldn't believe how deep this rabbit hole goes. Now I question everything. For all I know the Moon Landing could have been faked and shape-shifters could control the world. I don't know what to believe sometimes. In a way I wish I was still asleep. The truth about how the world operates isn't a pretty picture. To be honest it scares the crap out of me. WE MUST EXPOSE 9/11. It's the key to the future of this planet. In my mind it is the most important issue of all time.

So true, Joe. You write

So true, Joe. You write exactly what I feel.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Well said

I think you speak for many us. What kills me is how we all learned at school how those "horrible Russians" were so sneaky and conniving and used propaganda and all that. And then we learn about the "Message Force Multipliers", those retired generals appearing on all the mainstream news sets, who helped the government implant the official 9/11 myth in our collective mind. When you pull back the curtain on 9/11, you also expose a lot of other ugly things. Better late than never, right? The genie is sooo out of the bottle. Good luck Huffington Post, trying to squeeze it back in! The truth will prevail.

I just want

to thank you truthers for all the positive things you have said about my post and all the plus hits. What I said came from the heart. I have three kids and am worried sick about their future. I sure don't want them to have to live in this Orwellian Police State the NWO has planned for us. I would gladly give my life to see 9/11 truth succeed. I am sure most of us feel the same way. If we can stay united and keep working hard we will win this thing. Because of 9/11 truth this small planet can become the paradise it was meant to be. Thanks again my friends.

The future of this movement

The future of this movement resides in multiple science-based arguments that make sense. If you think we have enough already then you rest too comfortably. More research and forensic analysis are needed, including replicating past results by different investigators. The totality of convincing, highly logical information must be overwhelming. The wide open path to failure is thinking our information is already overwhelming and that all we need is more effective advertising or better PR. We are like the blind, mute, quadraplegic, non english-speaking, unwashed drug addict with a criminal record trying to get a job baysitting schoolchildren -- we have to try harder. Its not fair but its true.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Not Ben of Ben and Jerry's...

I'm glad this isn't the same Ben Cohen who started www.TrueMajority.org and is famous for his ice cream with partner Jerry. But that guy needs pushing too.

info@truemajority.org

Damn it.

I would bet that he has done 0 research on 911.

Cohen strikes me as someone who is heavy on opinion and light on substance. His libelous jabs at the 911 Truth movement actually motivate me to tell a few more strangers about building 7, today. Thanks Benny boy.

"...heavy on opinion and light on substance." Good phrase!

I like that attitude Rob. We continue our dissemination when people take a jab. It is hard for them to counter against a "punch" of dissemination that they can not see.

He needs to be challenged to debate

This Ben Cohen character needs to be schooled in a public debate. These creeps can take their pot shots and do ludicrous hit pieces, but what they can't seem to do.... is WIN a debate with us!

Every 9/11 debate I've heard thus far was won by our side decisively. The "academic left" especially needs to be taken on. I miss hearing debates. DRG vs. Matt Taibbi, Kevin Ryan vs. Michael Shermer, Gage vs. that demolition guy--- bring it on. Where is Air America lately??

And another thing: they are trying to turn "truther" into a slam as someone who blindly believes something. In fact we are CRITICS of a demonstrably false government narrative and are demanding further inquiry and criminal justice.

We're all in this together

Dear Mr. Cohen:

In response to your recent Huffington Post article, I’d like to ask you to consider that anyone who doesn't consider themselves a "truther" is asking for lies. I'd remind those who believe the 9/11 Commission Report, and especially NIST’s final report on WTC 7, that they too are truthers - they just believe they've already got it.

And as far as movements go, this one is made up of everybody, whether they like to think so or not. Any time you run into someone dogging the "truth movement" just remind them that they're part of it.

We need to stop all the negative associations with words and phrases, to help stop the ad hominem attacks and start build bridges.

You and me both!

Thanks for posting this, Adam, although it did raise my blood pressure a few notches! It's simply disgusting. Almost as disgusting and aggravating as those "9/11 Families" sites that advocate more war, more surveillance and more reductions of human rights. Does anyone know how much it cost the gov to buy their support? We need to have some figures like that available to prove that money talks so loud it drowns out the truth.

Agree with Aidan

Attacks like this should be seen as proof positive that we are nearing our goal.

I see no point in firing off angry rebuttals. This guy writes about boxing. He is obviously clueless about 911 and has no business describing himself as a "journalist". Pity the fool and move on.

Danse Has a Point

I find that replying to folks such as Ben Cohen is a waste of one's energy and time. It's difficult to believe that anyone will ever win him over. Furthermore, there always will be some who love to tease and get others all worked up: it may well be that Cohen is one such person.

Or does writing to Cohen and to the Huffington Post serve a purpose that is wider than seeking to convince Cohen of anything?

Yes, Danse does have a point...

....and yes, writing responses does serve an important role. Over the last few months, I've been taken back by how much coverage and how many attacks the 911 truth movement has witnessed. It doesn't make sense. Or does it? Not since 2006 and the 5th anniversary have we seen such a barrage of attacks like we are seeing now. It just may be that we are closer than we think -- closing in on the real perps, or at least their methods.

As far as the higher purpose of writing responses to MSM attacks, the media needs to be constantly reminded that our movement is growing rapidly and getting more sophisticated every day. So WRITE if you're so moved, or don't if you're not.

I agree with you that sometimes it's best to just "turn the other cheek" and walk away. That's certainly better than taking all your pent up anger and dumping it on an ignorant "journalist." But sometimes you just can't leave it alone. I'm encouraged to see that more and more people who do write are thoughtful, polite, informed and unwavering. This speaks volumes about how far we have come.

We have turned the page and turned "them" on themselves. We are now so big and becoming so sophisticated that if they ignore us, we'll just keep growing and growing -- unencumbered. And when they attack us, they help keep the 9/11 conversation alive, which is VERY IMPORTANT. I'm not afraid of the attacks because the overwhelming majority of their arguments suck -- and a lot of thinking people can see that.

BTW, where is Mark Roberts in all of this? Haven't heard from him in a while. I guess he's hiding under a rock analyzing WTC dust samples. I hope it's a big rock 'cause he is going to have more and more company as time goes by.

TWP

They...

Didn't accept my comment.

Edit: I'd just like to say that I never ONCE cared about where BO was born. There are more important things to worry about in the world. And I KNOW Phil Berg personally.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

Why you SHOULD care, Jon.

I hate to see 9/11 Truth lumped in with other “conspiracies” too, but where Obama was born is no trivial matter. If it’s proven that he wasn’t born on U.S. soil—which is a Constitutional sine qua non for being President—there are very serious consequences.

One example is obedience of military orders. Two weeks ago, a U.S. Army Reserve major refused deployment to Afghanistan, claiming Obama was not eligible to be Commander-in-Chief and therefore had no authority to send him there. Those orders were suddenly and inexplicably revoked, even though the officer hadn't requested that they be.

Now it seems two more high-ranking officers are joining his lawsuit, a retired Army two-star general and an active reserve Air Force lieutenant colonel.

Imagine if every U.S. soldier on active duty refused to obey deployment orders on these grounds (personally, I'd be thrilled). Ditto with every bill that Obama signs into law. For a broader discussion of the legal ramifications, see the article by Dr. Edwin Viera, Jr. (JD, PhD, Harvard) which ran back in October.

The only way around this is:

(1) for Obama to show his ORIGINAL birth certificate. So far, he hasn’t; factcheck.org only showed a "certificate" of its existence, NOT the original document (compare this 1963 sample. Ironically, Obama mentions his birth certificate in passing on Page 26 of his 1995 memoir, "Dreams of My Father.” “I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,” he wrote. Source.

(2) to amend the Constitution and make it retroactive.
(Of course, the Supreme Court may surprise us with a tortured interpretation of the Constitution that kills the whole issue.)

Jon, if you know Phil Berg that well (a lifelong Democrat, by the way), please ask him to explain why it matters. Better yet, spend some time on his website, http://www.obamacrimes.com/.

Be aware too that even the Birther Movement has its share of disinfo, so research everything carefully and proceed with caution. And, just as with 9/11 Truth, don't fall for silly liberal-conservative or Republican-Democrat wedges.

I really don’t want to start a stampede on this birth certificate issue, but we owe it to ourselves to question EVERYTHING our government's doing (and the MSM is shoving down our throats), especially with all the anti-war election promises Obama has reneged on.

If I cared...

And I don't, but if I did, the information posted in this video would pretty much kill any doubts I don't have.

It's a distraction.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?

All our work for nought.

CBS news report, "Yet the birthers' claims have not simply survived into Mr. Obama's presidency – they've actually gained steam. Liz Cheney, talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh and Michael Reagan and even CNN's Lou Dobbs are among those taking the birthers' theories seriously. Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others have pushed the argument in court; earlier this month a soldier challenged his deployment to Iraq based on birther claims."

After years of hard work, research, internet videos, attempts to reach the public/MSM et cetera, there are fewer prominent truthers than there are birthers. 'Birther' gets 1,270,000 google responses and 'Truther' receives only 159,000. That reminds me of a passage from the Book of Isaiah:

"Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you."

Sometimes I feel that Sisyphus never had it so rough.

The fact that this is the case...

The reason there are so many "birthers" is because the pushers of this theory are themselves the right wing faction of the mainstream, corporate controlled media who can instantly influence millions.

NO corporate controlled outlets, right wing OR "progressive," have pushed 9/11 truth in a favorable way.

The fact that the corporate controlled media (some of it) is even pushing the "birther" theory with such free reign suggests very strongly right there that the "theory" is probably well crafted disinfo, with no real basis in fact, in order to distract and divide the masses on something truly unimportant.

I agree with 9-11-Joe, BHO is a puppet for the globalists regardless of what piece of land his mother was on when he came out of her womb.

EDIT: The more I look at it, I think the Obama Birther movement is a slickly crafted attempt to neutralize the credibility of the 9/11 Truth Movement in the eyes of the general onlooker. It's as if someone's trying to paint the "birther movement" as the "new truth movement of the new Obama age." As if movements are simply fads that come and go like the tide. Wow. It totally makes sense in that context. What a cunning way for the puppet masters to attempt to neutralize our movement!

The Right-Wing Noise Machine

The Right-Wing Noise Machine has promoted one conspiracy theory after another, yet they never seem to get called on it. The Al-Qaeda Saddam connection, a lie; Saddam is producing WMD, a lie; The Uranium--Niger documents, forged; We are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here, propaganda. Paul Craig Roberts once wrote, "Bush’s supporters demand lock-step consensus that Bush is right. They regard truthful reports that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction and was not involved in the September 11 attack on the US – truths now firmly established by the Bush administration’s own reports – as treasonous America-bashing."

The research 9/11 Truth Movement has presented, whether from Paul Thompson, Jim Hoffman, David Ray Griffin, Steven Jones or Richard Gage, is far more credible, comprehensive and detailed than any of the nonsense you routinely hear about on the mainstream news. However, it is not the evidence regarding 9/11 that people can't accept, it is the implications of that evidence. "Neither the sun nor death can be looked at steadily", and neither can the reality of 9/11. If the claims of the 'birthers' are true the consequences would be trivial. For most people, the truth about 9/11 would be a horror beyond imagining.

You could be right here

The Birther movement is essentially silly in the sense that it does not matter where Obama was born if his mother was an American citizen, which she was.

It is ridiculous to even compare this silly "birther" movement with the 911 Truth movement yet that is what we are seeing done. It is probably being used as a way to discredit conspiracy theories in general.

No, not correct

you must be a native of the United States to be eligible for the presidency, per the U.S. Constitution.

It says natural born citizen

Here is the relevant passage from Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution:

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

If one's mother or father was a U.S. citizen it doesn't matter where you were born, you are automatically a U.S. citizen from birth. The term natural born citizen only means you were born a citizen. Obama's mother was a U.S. citizen and thus Obama was a U.S. citizen from birth.

Some people are apparently trying to interpret that phrase to mean one needs to be born on U.S. soil to be a natural born citizen. If that was true then anyone born to a U.S. military parent overseas would be ineligible, like John McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone. It is highly doubtful the framers would have made that stipulation, as their concern was that a person did not have multiple allegiances. If you look at the last part of it, where it discusses residency, this becomes obvious.

What is also interesting in the actual wording in the constitution is the phrase "or a Citizen of the United States", which implies that the framers allowed persons born as foreign citizens at that time as long as the age and residency requirements were met. One could then try to interpret the "at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution" phrase to mean that henceforth everyone born after that had to be natural born to be eligible.

If the birthers insist on natural born meaning born on U.S. soil they are wrong and are also misinterpreting the intent of the Constitution.

If you remember how this

If you remember how this started they were trying to say Hawaii was not a state so he was not a citizen. When that didn't work they found some old lady in Kenya who isn't even a relative to say she witnessed a birth. That is weird right there. Just how many people would be watching a brth in a hospital. Another question, why would a struggling college student go to africa to have a baby. Wouldn't there be passport records. Did she even have a passport at that time.

911 truth is getting to big for them to handle. I just hope that more and more of them step into this pile of #*@%.

911 Truth Ends 911 Wars

Hawaii would have given a birth certificate

to his mother even if he was born in Kenya. Who knows they may have been visiting the father's parents while she was pregnant.

If some people tried to say Hawaii wasn't a state when he was born they are really wacked on that one as Obama was born in 1961 and Hawaii became a state in 1959. I don't think that matters either as people born to parents from Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are U.S. citizens also. All those who are born on or of parents from these U.S. territories are U.S. citizens. Those who continue to live in these territories just can't vote in presidential elections unless they are resident in a state which has electoral votes. However, they could theoretically run for president.

I don't know about then, but

I don't know about then, but now I think you aren't allowed to fly if you are that pregnant.

911 Truth Ends 911 Wars

Nice going

Going strong Adam, these are insightful comments. I get the feeling your thoughts are getting more and more profound. (They were already profound to begin with, but you know what I mean)

While I personally feel that many of these angry, hateful and ignorant attacks are orchestrated, and therefore not ignorant but cleverly designed, for the sake of argument, let's assume this is not mockingbird propaganda. Then...it's obvious that the people inside the fake left/right paradigm are confused about the 9/11 truth movement. They want to position it into the political spectrum. Is it communist? Is it fascist? Is it anti-semitic? Redneck racist? Surely if some of them are anti-Obama they must be neoconservative!

It's funny how the 9/11 truth movement's arguably biggest suspect is Dick Cheney, and still it is attempted to link us to him via his wife and the birther movement.

It's a pretty poor attempt at guilt by association.

By the way: I have now asked about 20 people the question: "Do you remember the anthrax attacks? Do you know who did it?"

Do you know how many knew the answer?

ZERO. NONE.

Every single time, I'm seeing a mental meltdown take place before my eyes when I ask that question. Please everybody, ask that question to as many people as you can, and then remind them that it we demand justice for that conspiracy too, and that we are not alone (Senator Leahy vs. FBI director Mueller)

Leahy is a democratic senator, so there goes the left wing/right wing propaganda device employed by people like Cohen.

No, the REAL facts are

That the so-called "birther" issue is part of the New World Order Movement, which has co-opted the 9/11 Truth and Justice Movement, and that is the real problem. Obviously 911T&J issues can be interpreted as part of the so-called NWO issues, but they saw some real truth they could use and strengthen their argument, so they latched onto it like a ravenous pit bull. And it has hurt the 911T&J movement tremendously.

Plus the fact that the 911T&J movement isn't anywhere near as large as some claim it to be, and there you have it. There STILL aren't hardly any college and university 911T&J student groups, which shows what state the movement is in. When UC Davis and Chico State and most other institutions in Calif. and around the country (nearly all of them) don't have student groups, that shows that the movement is very small, so people need to quit saying "we are millions strong", because it simply isn't true -- not even close. (the local San Francisco Bay Area meeting doesn't even have 50 regular attendees)

And all of the anti-Obama people will use anything they can to muddy the waters and attack him, which is why it gets so much attention. The only way you could get more attention for 911T&J would be to attach Obama to it somehow. (which I'm sure will happen at some point by someone)

Looks that way to me.

This is the same as the attempts to lump up us with Holocaust Deniers, Moon Landing Hoaxers and people who believe in Bigfoot. It wont work in the long run but the game is to make it harder for "Joe public" to see the truth. The game for them is similar to what the tobacco industry played for years. Long after everyone knew that tobacco was harmful and addictive they were still saying the results were inconclusive. It is the same type of people that have come up with this dis info campaign

The more I think about it

the more I believe only a fool could believe the official 911 conspiracy story.........really the facts are overwhelming to any person who takes even a casual look. It's really an insult to the intelligence of the American people that they think we can't see this outrageous lie. It is so in your face it's pathetic. I currently think that anyone with any intelligence and or an open mind would have to see that the official story is preposterous! I really mean that and that's what I tell people in a most calm respectful way. Sorry but it's true your Government is lying to you. So people like Cohen are either really stupid for talking about something they know nothing about or are working for the criminals who did this horrendous deed. As for the main stream media they are all traitors to the American people. Ask anyone who works in MSM why no one has ever talked about WTC 7. Ask anyone at all, perhaps a college professor, a dentist, a doctor, a policeman, a congressman, a fireman or anyone who denies that 911 could be a lie, what happened to WTC 7. Guess what they either don't know anything about WTC7 or they just don't have a good answer, because there aren't any good answers except for the truth. It was a controlled demolition and a hard pill to swallow. So brother and sisters take heart we are awake, we are honest citizens, we are true patriots to this great country so walk tall and proud. We are the true spirit of humanity, people who care about people and the truth.

The "Myth of American Exceptionalism"

which DRG describes so well, is what keeps people from seeing such an obvious lie. You know how communities and even schools in America (including, yes, public ones) conflate "God and Country." Or, as I say when I'm feeling in a particularly disdainful mood, "Gawd and Cunt-ree."

One angry man shook his head in disgust during a Cincinnati 9/11 Truth street action last year, and when I opened my mouth to speak, he gets in my face and says "Don't even fuckin' talk to me, I'm a Viet Nam Veteran!" (In, yes, the hick accent I delineate above.) So he's clearly in denial about Vietnam Truth also.

Alternet posted a very similar story yesterday

http://www.alternet.org/media/141519/crazy_%22birther%22_conspiracy_theo...

Here's the comment I posted on that article:

Cute conflation with 9/11 truth....yawn Alternet, surely you can do better?

From the article:

And make no mistake, Dobbs' performance in recent days has been nothing short of shocking. His birther cheerleading would be the equivalent of a CNN host, one year after the fact, going on the air and suggesting the Bush administration needed to prove, once and for all, that it was not behind the terrorist attacks of September 11 ("There are real questions here that need to be answered"). Of course, that kind of reckless rhetoric would be inconceivable on a mainstream television outlet.

Perhaps the author would care to explain:

1) Norman Mineta's testimony to the 9/11 Commission,

2) Why the President was sitting in a classroom while the country was under "terrorist attack",

3) Why the Secretary of Defense was eating breakfast while four planes were being hijacked,

4) Why the acting head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was sitting in a Senator's office talking while the country was being "attacked"

5) Why FBI headquarters blocked the Minneapolis field agents from looking at Zacarias Moussaoui's laptop until after 9/11,

6) Why NORAD failed to intercept even one plane in 100 minutes and told three different stories about their complete failure on 9/11/01,

7) Why no one lost their job, or even got a reprimand, for the massive "failure" that day.

8) Why none of the pilots on the four planes entered a hijack code if their planes were being hijacked,

9) How two planes caused three steel-framed buildings to be completely demolished, something that has not happened before or since 9/11?

(There are literally thousands of unanswered questions about 9/11...)

But, no, it is easier to write a piece smearing those with legitimate questions with this nonsense.

Surely, you can do better than this, Alternet?

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

* * * * * * * *

Clearly the perps and their propaganda puppets are feeling the heat, the smell of their desperation grows stronger every day.

The truth will out, brothers and sisters, keep up the great work!

The truth shall set us free. Love is the only way forward.

The Daily Beast steps into the action as well...

Why are the "Birthers" validated by the media in a way the 9/11 "Truthers" never were?

Lunatic right-wing “birthers” have gotten a toehold on CNN and Fox News, and even the McCain campaign investigated their claims. Paul Campos on why the media kowtows to the far-right fringe.

Straw man

"Why are the "Birthers" validated by the media in a way the 9/11 "Truthers" never were? "
Because it's a really weak straw man that can easily be refuted and disputed.
On the other hand, nobody wants to bring the issue of 9/11 Truth into the light of day because there is no reasonable way to argue it honestly.
Best strategy is to stifle it and ridicule it whenever the story arises.

Same here, joe. I was

Same here, joe. I was actually FOR Bush and the wars before someone turned me on to 9/11 truth. Of course, i laughed and denied the evidence for almost a month before I had to acknowledge the facts. I couldn't hide any more.

My entire life has changed. Instead of watching tv...I read. I now live to research and spread information and spark discussions with others. I'm a 6'4" guy with tattoos and I've had convos with prominent professors and attended many 9/11 truth meetings here in Seattle.

Even though it's frustrating at times, I'm really glad I took the red pill!

Here is his latest...

He will not accept my "facts" piece as a post.

I sent it to him directly.

Do these people deserve to know how and why their loved ones were murdered? Do we deserve to know how and why 9/11 happened?
