I don't know whether this is a possible good sign of Chris setting the stage for a real 9/11 coming out party, or proof that Hedges is playing a very skillful game of cherry picking reality.

The Obama 2012 campaign has launched it’s reelection campaign by drawing on the mythical version of events played out last year following the supposed assassination of Osama Bin Laden.

The campaign will release a 17 minute video later this week, narrated by hollywood actor Tom Hanks, as an opening salvo in the struggle to win a second term for the president.

An action movie-style teaser clip released yesterday solely highlights the so called Bin Laden raid and features vice president Joe Biden and former president Bill Clinton talking up the event.

“He took the harder and more honorable path,” Clinton says, adding “When I saw what had happened I thought to myself, I hope that’s the call I would’ve made”.

Susan Faludi on 9/11 Myths and Truths

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Susan Faludi has never been afraid of controversial topics. Her two previous books, Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women, (which won the National Book Critics Circle Award), and Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man, took on touchy issues of gender politics and feminism. Likewise, her provocative new book, The Terror Dream: Fear and Fantasy in Post-9/11 America (Metropolitan), concerns sensitive cultural territory, the nation's myths about 9/11. Does Faludi worry about treading on sacred ground? "I'm used to being beaten up," she says wryly. "You try as best you can not to think about that while you're writing it. A friend of mine stuck on my refrigerator door many years ago this little slogan she had on a calendar, a Yugoslav proverb that said, 'Tell the truth and run.' " TIME's Andrea Sachs spoke with the author at her home in San Francisco.
