‘Alex Jones Fan’ Charged for Placing 9/11 Stickers on Plane

Infowars | August 1, 2008

Jason Robo– an apparent activist and Infowars.com listener– has been charged with several counts including interfering with aircraft operation, disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct on a public conveyance after allegedly putting ‘9/11 Was an Inside Job’ stickers in the bathroom and on a seat inside the plane he boarded at Logan Airport in Boston. Robo reportedly later told police the stickers were meant to be a joke.

According to reports, Robo left the plane before takeoff after a flight attendant found a sticker in the bathroom and then found another near his seat. Passengers described him as ‘behaving nervously’ and noted his t-shirt, described as ‘a yellow t-shirt featuring images of George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler.’

Witnesses claim Robo stated, “I have to get off this plane right now.” Several other stickers as well as crumpled up sticker-backings were reportedly found afterwards in the area of his seat. The plane was evacuated and delayed three hours while bomb-sniffing dogs and other security combed the plane for any issues.

The Bostonist.com didn’t seem too concerned about the apparent ’scare’; they even featured a large graphic with three Alex Jones stickers (pictured). Its report briefed readers on nature of the Alex Jones program and essentially identifies Jones with the spirit of freedom against the frustrations of airport security (with stated reservation for Jones’ claims). :

“We have to admit that we think of him when taking off our shoes at the airport. For the love of Alex, please let us retain our flip flop freedoms, TSA!”

The incident has made national news and heavy regional coverage in the Boston area, and Robo is, like the ‘Don’t Tase Me, Bro’ guy, treated like a criminal and put in the spotlight for doing nothing wrong in an era of terrorism paranoia. Robo, a student at Humboldt State University in California, self-describes in his blog as:

HyperActivist/scholarly revolutionary, against the New World Order. @ Humboldt State University majoring in Political Science/Economics & history minor… Elected in a record election into student government on a revolutionary platform & later marginalized by a sellout president, illegally impeached, illegally removed from an election as a re-do was initiated… I’m only human, trying to do my part, tired of learning, opting to be proactive, not writing papers and debating in classes.

At least one blog from Humboldt U. has posted on the story, commenting, “Jason Robo’s Boston Adventure - Police Overreaction?” Indeed, all he did was make a statement. A whatever happened to freedom of speech, anyway? Thankfully, he wasn’t tased.

Below are excerpts from several media outlets from across the country that outline further details on the incident:

Worcester-Humbolt Alex Jones Fan Stops Plane

Bostonist.com | July 31, 2008

The Globe reports that Jason Robo, a Humboldt State student from Worcester, slapped a “911 was an inside job” sticker on an airline restroom, then fled, leaving another Alex Jones’ Prison Planet sticker on his seat and causing a 3-hour delay for Salt Lake City passengers. The flyers who didn’t flee were taken from the plane and made to wait while it was searched thoroughly by bomb-sniffing dogs. The flight eventually left three hours behind schedule.

For those not in the know, Alex Jones is a prolific documentarian, radio host, and conspiracy theorist convinced the government’s New World Order is taking over our lives. He’s for guns and freedom, and against government control. While he goes a little (lot) too far some (most) of the time, we have to admit that we think of him when taking off our shoes at the airport. For the love of Alex, please let us retain our flip flop freedoms, TSA! At least they have the freedom to grow weed in Humboldt, if not bring it on planes.

College student with 9/11 conspiracy sticker forces delay of Boston flight

Boston Globe | July 31, 2008

A former Worcester man was arraigned today on disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly slapped a 9/11 conspiracy sticker in a plane lavatory before running off the aircraft just before takeoff.

Jason Robo had boarded Delta flight 1165 for Salt Late City just after 5 p.m. Wednesday when the crew noticed he was acting nervously, said David Procopio, a State Police spokesman. Robo was spotted entering one of the bathrooms, and, after he left, a crew member found what appeared to be a handmade sticker that read: “9/11 was an inside job.”

As other passengers continued boarding, Robo suddenly bolted off the aircraft. “I have to get off this plane,” he allegedly said.

Police said additional stickers were found stuck to the fold-down tray where Robo was sitting in the plane, crumpled up on a nearby seat, and affixed to a public telephone at Gate 15 in Logan Airport.

HSU student faces charges after airplane scare

The Eureka Reporter (California) | July 31, 2008

A Humboldt State University student was charged Thursday morning with interfering with aircraft operation on a Salt Lake City bound flight taking off from Boston Wednesday.

Jason Robo, of Eureka, was released following his arraignment of additional charges of disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct on a public conveyance, according to a news release issued by Boston’s Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

The charges followed alleged actions by Robo that forced an evacuation of Delta Flight 1165 to Salt Lake City and delayed takeoff for three hours.

Multiple passengers on the flight observed Robo behaving nervously while wearing a yellow shirt over a T-shirt featuring images of George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler.

Robo was observed leaving his seat and entering the lavatory on the co-pilot’s side of the plane, then returning to his seat without the yellow shirt.

When a flight attendant entered the lavatory upon Robo’s exit, she found an adhesive address label that read “9/11 was an Inside Job! PrisonPlanet.com” affixed to the sink area, the release stated.
The flight attendant also observed a second sticker on a fold-down tray table and informed the pilot.

Robo was said to have charged off the plane after telling a flight attendant, “I have to get off this plane right now.”

Massachusetts State Police assigned to Boston’s Logan Airport responded to the scene, spoke with members of the flight crew, and initiated a search for Robo.

He was soon located at the baggage claim and, upon being taken into custody, made statements indicating that the stickers were “a joke.”

Additional stickers were also located on a public telephone at Gate 15 and crumpled up on seat 28E.

Student charged in Logan scare

WHDH 7 News - Boston | July 31, 2008

Witnesses said that Robo left his seat and entered the plane’s lavatory. When a flight attendant entered the lavatory upon Robo’s exit, she found an adhesive address label that read, “9/11 was an Inside Job! PrisonPlanet.com” affixed to the sink area.

The flight attendant also found a second sticker on the fold-down tray near his seat and informed the pilot.

That is when Robo ran off the plane after telling another flight attendant, “I have to get off this plane right now.”

Here ...

... we go. Fasten your seatbelts and hold on.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

here they try to justify HR 1955

Notice they brought in the bomb sniffing dogs because someone has place a friggin' bumper sticker in the bathroom. This is, in my opinion, another attempt to lump 911Truth with terrorism. We are a peaceful group trying to bring the truth to the people. If you want to find the terrorist, go to the White House and the Pentagon.

Nutcase or provocateur?

As a Boston-area activist, I was shocked when I read this and find it somewhat suspicious.

Who would waste the cost of an airline ticket, which he presumably needs to get back to school, to do a high risk truth action? He is obviously a poor student because the report says his stickers were "homemade" and therefore he didn't have the ten bucks necessary to buy stickers. And if his parents bought his ticket, I doubt they would want to be funding his scatter-brain political tactics by buying him another ticket. Was he planning to ride the plane all the way to Utah with the bathroom and seats plastered with stickers? Doesn't make sense to me. Listening to just one video of him, it appears he is not all there -- kinda in the Nico Haupt category. So he is either a very troubled young man or a planted provocateur. Either way, both are dangerous to the movement and we always need to be on-guard to clear up these incidents (will be pushing local activists here to write some letters to help with our reputation). It reminds me of the Times Square bicyclist story and Geraldo's interpretation -- just a little too "out there." I wouldn't place any blame on the flight crew or airport security, they are just doing their job. If it was a staged incident, the planners knew exactly how security would react and intended to take advantage of that to make us look bad. It's funny how when one kid puts up a few stickers and causes a delay at Logan, the media is all over it, but when accredited professionals come to Boston to scientifically outline why the "official" story of the WTC collapses can't possibly be true, as they did in December 07, the media just ignores it. This is the dynamic, folks, regarding how the media deals with our issues. It's up to us on how we deal with it.

I think this incident was staged, but I'm moving forward as if he is just a nutcase.

It's politically correct to consider the 9/11 movment's image...

.....but it needs to be clear--the opposition will launch defaming attacks! This guy is possibly so removed from the 9/11 movement he didn't have a clue how to obtain stickers? I agree, he could certainly be a mind-controlled subject and the incident staged?

To add some perspective, Dick Cheney laughs at discussions on image in all probability.

The latest rumor Cheney wanted to Navy Seals dressed as Iranians in replica Iranian PT boats challenge U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz---Cheney: Kill Americans as Pretext to Attack.

Political Correctness should be viewed, in perspective, as a Psy-Op. It helps the government, certainly, remain in control.

...don't believe them!

great insights

"If it was a staged incident, the planners knew exactly how security would react and intended to take advantage of that to make us look bad. It's funny how when one kid puts up a few stickers and causes a delay at Logan, the media is all over it..."

Robo claims press reports misleading and incorrect

In this interview:

http://khum.streamguys.us/John_Matthews_KSLG-Jason_Robo080108.mp3

Jason Robo says that the incident began when the stewardess took note of his anti-bush t shirt, which he was wearing underneath his button down shirt. He was not wearing a political t-shirt fully exposed, and did not run off the plane as claimed by the press.

We must not jump to conclusions based on the claims of any mainstream reporting, we know who they work for.

A patsy?

Not that I'd recommend anyone ever put 9/11 truth stickers on or anywhere in a plane, but who in his right mind would put up such stickers on or in an airliner before it had even taken off? This reeks of an attempt to stir pandemonium by delaying the takeoff and thus create an "incident," rather than someone simply putting out the 9/11 truth message.

Are there any 9/11 truth activists out there who can vouch for this guy?

It is an INFOWAR. Continue to get the message out.

I love seeing people put out the message. In the 60's it was commonplace. I personally have put out hundreds and hundreds of stake signs and posters around the suburban areas of Dallas. I finally got caught one time. The citation cost $161. That is inexpensive promotion as thousands and thousands read signs on the highways and roadways.

Continue to repeat the 9/11 Truth message.

If every individual Truther put out stickers or signs on a daily or weekly basis, we would make some real inroads.

It has two effects. 1) Draws the raw public's attention to the subject 2) Let's others, who are aware of 9/11 Truth, that they are not alone.

misguided youth, hot local news day

Local kid goes to Humboldt, gets inspired and commits well-intentioned act without thinking it through. Of course, in Boston people are still hurting, since the planes took off from here and loved ones were lost. Anything occurring at Logan Airport is scrutinized not only by security, but by watchful, uneasy passengers.

I saw no mention of this airport incident on the local news because all eyes and ears were on the big news of the day: Manny Ramirez was traded by the Red Sox.

If the kid had REALLY thought about the potential to hurt the loved ones and the fact that Manny Being Manny would overshadow just about anything here in Boston, he might not have done such a dumb thing. I've seen similar stickers on street signs and subway ads. They didn't cause much of a stir, but they still got read by many people without causing a panic.

disorderly conduct and interfering with aircraft operation?

"interfering with aircraft operation"
Huh? How the &#%$ was that interfering with the operation of the aircraft? Ridiculous.

A question: Why did Robo [allegedly] "off the plane after telling another flight attendant, “I have to get off this plane right now.”" Strange. If he simply went into the restroom, closed the door, then placed the stickers all over the walls and left -- no one would have been the wiser until the next passenger entered to use the toilet.

MrEguy

Unfortunately I think this was not

a wise move on Jasons part. I wouldn't take chances on airplanes..or with Homeland Security. Also.. I believe we will be taken more seriously if we dress in business attire in certain situations.....and then try talk to people one on one ..or in small groups. For example, as much as I appreciate the Code Pink folks...I believe some of the costumes we see on Cspan during Congressional hearings might hurt their cause.

Don't get me wrong....stickers are fine...But we need to be smarter when it comes to strategy.

Expect a high level of security.

I agree with Democracydiva. I am all for promoting the "Investigate 9/11" and "9/11 was an inside job'" but I also think it should be done in a more open and less sneaky manner especially knowing we are living in a new paranoid post-reality world.
We all want to know we are safe when flying and although I'm sure Jason is not a threat, why mess with security?
Security should be extra high on airlines, terrorism or not.
This level of security is new to us but has been standard practice on some other airlines like El Al for decades.

I agree

Stickers are fine.

Next time you're in the men's or women's room, just put one on the inside of the stall -- then quietly leave (after washing your hands, of course!).

Above all, don't draw attention to yourself!

MrEguy

i agree, defacing planes with stickers doesn't help the image

as planes were used on 9/11, Americans will always equate them with terrorism- and the guy acted nervous, said he had to get off the plane, ran off- and he had a ticket and his luggage was still on board. The airline and TSA would have been irresponsible not to search for bombs.

I also agree with other observations here, this guy likely has emotional/mental problems, or this was a psyop.

Stickers are fine on the bumper, backs of street signs/lamp poles, school notebooks, as handouts- sticking them inside a plane is going to raise anxiety levels, if not cause terror- which is what this incident did.

Sirhan Sirhan may have been drugged/brainwashed. I wouldn't be surprised at all if there's an attempt to link truthers with terrorists, if another attack happens. We need to disassociate ourselves from this kind of stuff. Peace, love and non-violent activism has the greatest potential to reach people and block neocointelpro attempts to infiltrate and hijack the truth movement

But aren't governments able to crush militarily any nonviolent movement they want to?

unfortunately, image is everything. It doesn't matter what you are trying to sell, it how is you package it and how you come at people with it that will determine how it is received (or if it is received at all, or met with utter contempt).

This is the

This is the unprofessionalism of the movement as a whole that gives a bad name to those of us really making a conscious, courteous, and professional approach to getting the truth out.

Again, we are marginalized and made to look like the bad guys, instead of getting the word out in a more positive limelight.
I'm dissapointed.. very.

Sounds like an operation to

Sounds like an operation to associate 9/11 Truth/Infowars with airline terrorists, or just a very foolish but innocent idea with the same result.

huh

are you crazy? i put 911 truth stickers all over every fucking plane i go into, and also wear investigate 911 shirts anytime i fly ANYWHERE. why is this a high risk truth action and why on earth do you think it was staged? as for this kid getting in trouble and bomb sniffing dogs coming in to stall the flight.... two words come to mind: police state.

"I will not withdraw from this war even if Laura and Barney are the only ones supporting me." -George W. Bush

wait a tic

he fled the plane before take off? before anyone saw the stickers? weird, i missed that part. that is definitely cause for suspicion, but as for the harmless act of putting flyers in seat backs and stickering truth stickers on the seats and stuff, i think is a great way to get people thinking. airports and airplanes are definitely places where a dialogue should be started

"I will not withdraw from this war even if Laura and Barney are the only ones supporting me." -George W. Bush

I love hearing that Abby! Keep putting the message out !!

Damn girl! Way to go!!! Keep it up. You set a great example. We can't be shy about 9/11 Truth. Make it visible! The more we put the message out there, the more acceptable it becomes. I am continuously running into people who know about 9/11, but they don't speak up until I mention it or they see one of my signs or I try to give them a DVD. --Abby..PS...I borrowed one of your truther girls... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GjXDwlPBJs

"Robo reportedly later told police the stickers were meant to be a joke."

Joke's on us, as it turns out.

Hey Abby...

I love your activism/ enthusiasm in San Diego..... T-Shirts, hats, signs..the whole bit....

I was a flight attendent with TWA for 18 years...and went through the hijacking era in the 70's....so I know a little about airline security. I don't know how accurate the press' story is....but leaving an airplane with your bags possibly still in the belly (initially as far as the airline emlpoyees know) is not a wise move.

I've left 9/11 info cards behind when I reach my destination..and even talked to the crew members and given them DVD's...I think different siuations call for differnt strategies.

Yes...we do live in a police state.....and I am worried about Jason.

spot on

"...leaving an airplane with your bags possibly still in the belly (initially as far as the airline employees know) is not a wise move."

Thank you DD for helping reinforce my point. Getting arrested or even causing a disturbance, in and of itself, may be called for at times and even be praiseworthy, depending on the circumstance. This was not one of them. Leaving a plane in a suspicious and conspicuous way after boarding and vandalizing it is not just a bad move, but common sense should tell you that security would and should take notice and precautions. As far as it being a staged event, well, that is just my opinion, which doesn't mean much since it's only an opinion.

As far as living in a police state, we have had to deal with overreacting, reprehensible behavior by police for decades -- just look at Rosa Parks or ask any black person living in the south, or ask the friends and family of students killed at Kent State for merely protesting the war in Vietnam. All of this AJ hype about "the police state" is just that, a lot of hype about something that has been around for a long time. Not that it's not a bad thing, it's just not something new that was ushered in by the Patriot Act.

"just look at Rosa

"just look at Rosa Parks"

How many buses were used to murder Americans? Don't think she would have been so . . .

I want to see...

I want to see if Alex Jones is going to help this guy or not. It is his website that has been advertised. In NY law, they can go against AJ as well. As a matter of fact here is a campaign against political posting and the mayor's office has also been fined in the past! Let's wait and see.. Personally I do not believe Alex Jones will do anything for the poor guy.

Robo disputes the reported statement

In this interview:

http://khum.streamguys.us/John_Matthews_KSLG-Jason_Robo080108.mp3

Robo states this is not what he said. He says what was a joke was the arrest and the way it was blown out of proportion.

An Intentional Movement for Truth or is this "just a JOKE?"

Maybe some of you have a point, maybe it ~was~ just too messy an attempt to have been anything but a plant to make the movement look bad. I'm not so sure. I really took it as an isolated incident by a well-meaning but clearly -->not too bright<-- youth. The reason I say he was "misguided" is the fact that he stupidly tells them this is a "joke".

This is not a joke, and haphazard acts are NOT courageous when the "perpetrator" says after the fact that it was "just a joke". So the message is that 911 was a JOKE? THat 911 Truth is just a bunch of JOKERS? There is no credibility or honor there, and it DOES make the movement look callous and disorganized. Yes, they overreacted as usual, but this wasn't exactly a sane act, do you think?

A LOT more people will see and have time to mull over a sticker message easily placed on a subway car or bus, than on a plane, where of course there is already heightened tension. The plane will be in the air for hours before being cleaned and having the sticker removed, after only a handful of people see it. There are plenty of other places to leaflet or leave stickers that will be seen by many, left alone and seen time and time again.

If we want to be effective, we should not be alienating the people we are trying to reach, by scaring them and disrespecting their dear losses. We need to be more creative. Intelligent acts are respected, people take notice. Dumb acts are "dissed", laughed at, and soon forgotten.

I'm not joking.

Jason Robo interview on KHUM Radio

In this interview Jason claims that he did NOT run of the plane, and was further misrepresented in his words and actions by the press. Lets not rush to judgement based on the claims of mainstream media without consideration of Robo's story in his own words.

This sort of thing...

Is why I'm an EX-Truther. One of the most effective tactics we've found against various ideologically motivated groups around the world is to convince them they're associated with hair-brained nut-jobs. Convince people that their movement lacks credibility and they'll find better things to do (if they can). I joined this movement because I was so impressed with the works of Dr. Jones and DRG, only to find myself associated with ... lesser minds. Good luck with everything, but unless you can keep this sort of thing from happening, don't hold your breath for any serious credibility. I'd like to think this is constructive criticism, but let the vote-downs begin!
