The American people have been seriously misled about the origins of the al Qaeda movement blamed for the 9/11 attacks, just as they have been seriously misled about the reasons for America’s invasion of Iraq.

The truth is that for at least two decades the United States has engaged in energetic covert programs to secure U.S. control over the Persian Gulf, and also to open up Central Asia for development by U.S. oil companies. Americans were eager to gain access to the petroleum reserves of the Caspian Basin, which at that time were still estimated to be “the largest known reserves of unexploited fuel in the planet.”[1]

After the attacks of 9/11, I accepted the blowback thesis, according to which the attacks were payback for US foreign policy. About a year later, a colleague suggested that the attacks were orchestrated by our own government. My response was that I didn’t think the Bush administration---even the Bush administration---would do such a thing. A few months later, another colleague suggested that I look at a website containing the massive 9/11 timeline created by Paul Thompson. This timeline, I found, contained an enormous number of reports, all from mainstream sources, that contradicted the official account. This started a process that led me to publish The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11, which summarized much of the evidence that had been discovered by previous researchers---evidence, I concluded, that provided a "strong prima facie case for official complicity."

First 9/11 Miniseries Starts Filming

The project - which has never been formally announced by ABC and will air no sooner than January 2006 - stars Harvey Keitel as John O'Neill, the FBI agent who hunted Al Qaeda for years and was killed in the attacks while working as head of security for the World Trade Center.

It is the first big Hollywood project to deal with the attacks and is based on the best-selling "9/11 Commission Report", with former N.J. Governor and commission chairman Thomas Kean and other members of the panel serving as consultants.

Daniel Hopsicker was recently the focus of an article on 9/11 in Florida. I thought I had posted a link to the story, but I can't seem to find it off hand.

In any event, Hopsicker, author of 'Mohamed Atta & the Venice Flying Circus', has posted a retort to the recent article on him. He has also released a new 15 minute video entitled 'The Secret World of 9.11: Hijackers, Heaven's Gate & 'Republican, Inc.'.

Terrorists' Hometown paper Discovers 9.11

The focus of his new video is the FBI and its representatives in San Diego, CA and their ties to 9/11 highjackers.

I mentioned earlier this month that Oliver Stone was working on a 9/11 related movie. While details are quite thin, he did make some recent comments that made the news.

STONE SLAMS BUSH REACTION TO 9/11

Controversial director OLIVER STONE has hit out at US President GEORGE W BUSH for "misusing" his powers after the terrorist attacks on September 11th (01).

The NATURAL BORN KILLERS film-maker, who is currently preparing the first major Hollywood movie to deal with the 2001 atrocities, believes Bush is the wrong man to lead America at the moment, and he is particularly angry about the US invasion of Iraq.

Threats from Usama bin Laden were detailed in television documentaries, books and all over the Internet in scores of languages, but the intelligence community largely ignored such "open source information" until it was too late, say former intelligence agents for the military and CIA.

Saudi Bond and George Smiley

Bandar's successor as ambassador is Prince Turki bin Faisal, the ambassador in London for the past three years, who was head of Saudi intelligence for 24 years before that. If Bandar is Saudi Arabia's James Bond, Turki is the kingdom's George Smiley (of John Le Carre fame).

By the time the defeated Soviets slunk out of Afghanistan in February 1989, bin Laden had been elevated to hero status in Saudi Arabia. So when bin Laden asked to see Turki Aug. 2, 1990, the day Saddam Hussein invaded Iraq, he was not kept waiting. What followed was described by Turki as one of history's most expensive laughs. Bin Laden told Turki he knew the royals were thinking of inviting the U.S. Army to the kingdom to push the Iraqis out of Kuwait, but that this was not necessary as bin Laden's "Afghan Arab" fighters could do the job. Turki laughed and a furious bin Laden stormed out of his office.
