Quebec provincial police admitted Thursday that their officers disguised themselves as demonstrators during the protest at the North American leaders summit in Montebello, Que.

However, the police force denied allegations its undercover officers were there on Monday to provoke the crowd and instigate violence.

"At no time did the police of the Sûreté du Québec act as instigators or commit criminal acts," the police force said in French in a news release. "It is not in the police force's policies, nor in its strategies, to act in that manner."

"At all times, they responded within their mandate to keep order and security."

Police said the undercover officers were only at the protest to locate and identify non-peaceful protesters in order to prevent any incidents.

Police came under fire Tuesday, when a video surfaced on YouTube that appeared to show three plain-clothed police officers at the protest with bandanas and masks across their faces. One of the men was carrying a rock.

Fire at Building Damaged on Sept. 11

NEW YORK (AP) -- A four-alarm fire in the abandoned Deustche Bank skyscraper sent a plume of gray smoke trailing above ground zero Saturday afternoon as firetrucks and police cars raced through lower Manhattan to reach a building already decimated by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The tower, left vacant since 9/11 turned it into a toxic nightmare, had flames on multiple floors, according to the Fire Department. Construction crews had already dismantled 14 of the building's 40 stories, reaching the 26th floor on Tuesday.

The cause of the fire was unknown, but smoke pouring from the burning building was visible from midtown Manhattan and the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. NYU Downtown Hospital reported its emergency room was treating at least one patient brought in from the blaze.

The acrid smell of smoke, which hung over the neighborhood for days after Sept. 11, returned to lower Manhattan along with the wail of emergency vehicles.

So-called 9/11 "truthers" bypass the truth even when it begs for answers.

Here’s a theory worth probing: The WTC Captive Insurance Co. has "squandered" money that should go to 10,000 cops, firefighters and other workers ill from toxic exposure at Ground Zero. (Susan Edelman, New York Post, July 22, 2007).

According to many conspiracies about 9/11 is the one that insists al Qaeda is not responsible for the destruction of the World Trade Center, the U.S. government is.

"The Pentagon was not hit by a commercial jet"; it was hit by a cruise missile. United Flight 93 did not crash after its occupants rushed the cockpit; it was deliberately taken down by a U.S. Air Force fighter." (www.time.com, Sept. 3, 2006).

Does 9/11 Truth constitute a threat to "the peace and stability of Iraq"? Regardless, consider this another brick in the wall of the police state.

From his nearby flat, on his day off, Scott witnessed the second plane strike the tower just below offices where his colleagues were working.

The 9/11 Commission were not interested that the WTC security cameras and other security systems were paralysed between 12 noon on Saturday 8th and 2pm on Sunday 9th September 2001.

9/11 CEREMONY

July 19, 2007 -- For the first time since 9/11, the annual memorial ceremony for victims of the terrorist attacks will not be held at the World Trade Center site, because of its redevelopment, officials announced yesterday.

The ceremony, which includes the reading of the names of those who died, will take place instead in nearby Zuccotti Park, at Liberty Street between Broadway and Church Street. Gov. Spitzer and Mayor Bloomberg notified relatives of victims by letter last week of plans for the sixth anniversary.

Schenectady company to analyze 9/11 debris

SCHENECTADY -- Nearly six years after the terrorist attack that felled the World Trade Center towers, questions remain over whether the dust and debris that rained down on lower Manhattan have contaminated New York City neighborhoods.

A small company in Schenectady is helping to answer those questions.

Northeast Analytical Inc. has been selected by the Environmental Protection Agency to analyze samples being taken from apartments and businesses in lower Manhattan, in an area south of Canal Street.

Specifically, Northeast is testing the samples for lead and contaminants called polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. It's the only company chosen by the EPA to do so, although other companies will test for asbestos or airborne pollutants.

If contamination is found, apartment or business owners will have their property professionally cleaned for free.

"The NYPD's intelligence chief says Osama Bin Laden's henchmen have stepped up recruitment over the past six months - turning a desolate area of northern Pakistan into a training ground for a new generation of terrorists.

"They want to come here, and whatever their capabilities, they absolutely are focused on returning to New York City," NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence David Cohen told the Daily News.

Cohen said he was well aware of the threat before a new report prepared for the White House became public last week."

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Al Qaeda is stepping up its efforts to sneak terror operatives into the United States and has acquired most of the capabilities it needs to strike here, according to a new U.S. intelligence assessment, The Associated Press has learned.

The draft National Intelligence Estimate is expected to paint an increasingly worrisome portrait of al Qaeda's ability to use its base along the Pakistan-Afghan border to launch and inspire attacks, even as Bush administration officials say the U.S. is safer nearly six years into the war on terror.

Among the key findings of the classified estimate, which is still in draft form and must be approved by all 16 U.S. spy agencies:

* Al Qaeda is probably still pursuing chemical, biological or nuclear weapons and would use them if its operatives developed sufficient capability.

FDNY Thyroid Cancer Shock

July 8, 2007 -- An alarming number of FDNY firefighters are battling a rare cancer that typically targets women, The Post has learned.

At least eight firefighters have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer over the past five years. Another five have undergone partial or full thyroidectomies after their doctors discovered abnormal cell growth that could lead to cancer around the glands.

The cluster has sprung up among those who responded to the World Trade Center on 9/11 or helped in recovery and cleanup afterward, firefighters said.

The relatively rare illness is known to affect women at three times the rate it hits males. The FDNY cases involve only men.

The National Cancer Institute put the incidence rate at 4.3 per 100,000 men - much lower than the eight cases among approximately 11,000 firefighters on the FDNY force on 9/11.
