Let me paraphrase something I once saw George H.W. Bush say: "Everything I am; everything I have accomplished; and everything I hope to accomplish I owe to David Rockefeller." Today I saw something I never thought possible. I saw a Rothschild endorse a fundamentally Rockefeller candidate -- John McCain. DNC Platform Committee Member Lynn Forester de Rothschild quit her post to endorse McCain as she also ended her longstanding role as a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. The Clintons also have strong Rockefeller "lineage" so I'm guessing that Hillary understands the move perfectly with a wink and a nod. The Shell Game is a story that, presented differently, would be almost completely unintelligible to anyone who has spent the last seven or so years watching exclusively Fox News for their information, or equivalently, living under a rock. Fortunately, the rest of us have the Internet. But from the point of view of the tragically misinformed public, Steve Alten makes his story accessible by wrapping it tightly around a thoroughly Hollywood-friendly plot.

The 2008 Spring Membership Drive at KRFC 88.9 FM presented a great opportunity for the launch of the first Week of Truth campaign, The National The Shell Game Buy In Week of Truth, April 16th – 22nd, 2008. 

As I have pledged, Visibility 9-11 will be purchasing 10 copies of The Shell Game, by Steve Alten during the Week of Truth.  As I considered what I would do with these 10 books, it occurred to me that KRFC was right in the middle of their bi-annual fund raising drive and that it might be possible to get on as co-host of Words of Freedom for a special episode of the show.  My plan was to donate the 10 books to the station, offer them as a premium gift to contributors, and have Steve Alten on as a guest to kick off the Week of Truth buy in for The Shell Game.  Long story short, David Peterson at KRFC gladly found me a 30 minute spot during the fund drive.  This interview is a result of that collaboration.

By now we should all know that this Steve Alten guy is for real. Like some of the other new leaders of the truth movement, Steve is smart and articulate, and effective at getting his message across under pressure. And when given the chance, he speaks the truth powerfully. So getting him opportunities for major media appearances seems like a pretty good idea.

Of course there are other good books and videos we can support. Books like David Griffin’s new “Contradictions”, and Zarembka’s soft cover edition coming out this month, also deserve to be widely read. I also enjoyed the new 9/11 drama “The Reflecting Pool”, a creative effort that strikes me as being similar to The Shell Game.

But how can truth activists, many of whom have already sacrificed so much, afford to buy multiple copies of these new books and videos?

One way is to use the Bush Administration’s shameful “tax rebate” for the purpose, and to encourage others to do the same. If the crooks are going to rob our kids by borrowing even more money to give out tax rebates, at least those rebates could be used to help the next generation by getting out the truth while we still can.

In 2008, the American people are more dangerously naïve than they ever were in the 18th Century, their imagination for evil dangerously circumscribed and manipulated so that the threat to national security seems to always come from without, never from within. The smiley face of the elected government conceals the dark faces of those never elected and the people live in a politically repressed condition like hysterical Victorian virgins haunted by nuclear nightmares and the self-righteous psychosis of the Book of Revelation. Steve Alten dreams big.
