A lingering technical question about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks still haunts some, and it has political implications: How did 200,000 tons of steel disintegrate and drop in 11 seconds? A thousand architects and engineers want to know, and are calling on Congress to order a new investigation into the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 at the World Trade Center.

"In order to bring down this kind of mass in such a short period of time, the material must have been artificially, exploded outwards," says Richard Gage, a San Francisco architect and founder of the nonprofit Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

Mr. Gage, who is a member of the American Institute of Architects, managed to persuade more than 1,000 of his peers to sign a new petition requesting a formal inquiry.

German Firm Probes Final World Trade Center Deals

PIRMASENS, Germany — German computer experts are working round the clock to unlock the truth behind an unexplained surge in financial transactions made just before two hijacked planes crashed into New York's World Trade Center Sept. 11.

Were criminals responsible for the sharp rise in credit card transactions that moved through some computer systems at the WTC shortly before the planes hit the twin towers?

Or was it coincidence that unusually large sums of money, perhaps more than $100 million, were rushed through the computers as the disaster unfolded?

A world leader in retrieving data, German-based firm Convar is trying to answer those questions and help credit card companies, telecommunications firms and accountants in New York recover their records from computer hard drives that have been partially damaged by fire, water or fine dust.

FRIDAY, June 13 (HealthDay News) -- Two to three years after the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, one in eight residents who lived near the site had signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a New York City Health Department study reports.

This rate, 12.6 percent, among Lower Manhattan residents is three times the usual rate and matches the 12.4 percent rate reported among rescue and recovery workers. Residents who were injured during the attacks had the highest rate of PTSD symptoms (38 percent), followed by those who witnessed violent deaths and those caught in the dust cloud after the towers collapsed on Sept. 11, 2001.

The most commonly reported PTSD symptoms were hyper-vigilance, nightmares and emotional reactions to reminders of 9/11.

The study, based on surveys of 11,000 residents through the World Trade Center Health Registry, also found that divorced people reported PTSD symptoms at twice the rate of married people (21.5 percent vs. 9.5 percent), possibly because divorced people received less emotional support, the researchers suggested.

Man jailed for ripping off 9/11 victims fund

NEW YORK (AFP) — A US man was sentenced to 30 months in jail for obtaining 1.1 million dollars from a victims fund by falsely claiming he had been injured in the September 11, 2001 Al-Qaeda attacks on New York, the US Justice Department said Friday.

New York District Attorney Michael Garcia said Mario Mastellone, 42, had received 1,076,789 dollars from the department's September 11 Victims Compensation Fund of 2001 based on claims he was permanently disabled in the attacks.

But justice officials showed in his trial clips from a 2002 wedding video showing Mastellone "vigorously dancing the limbo and carrying a woman on his back."

They also filmed him at his home washing his car, carrying the garbage out and shoveling snow, and photographed him involved in his pre-9/11 work as a painter.

District Judge Victor Marrero said Mastellone had "exploited and capitalized on" the 9/11 attacks, seeing them as an "opportunity to use human suffering as a license to steal."

Mastellone was also order to pay a 25,000 dollar fine and 100,000 dollars in restitution.

Unfortunately, I never found a company online that I felt would work best for this. I have decided instead to just donate this image to the cause outright. There appears to be an explosion or squib ejection that is way below where the first plane impacted!! It is also prior to either tower collapse!

How can this be explained as "air ejecting" from the building? This looks very similar to the squibs scene during the "collapse" itself. Thoughts?

Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul does not believe that 9/11 was an “inside job” and his campaign distanced itself from a raucous pro-Paul demonstration on a Mackinac Island ferry Friday night, a Paul spokesman said Monday.

In the incident, Paul's supporters taunted former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for alleged complicity in the attacks.

Spokesman Jesse Benton said the campaign was aware of Internet reports about the demonstration, which occurred late Friday when Giuliani boarded a ferry loaded with Paul supporters leaving a Michigan GOP conference. No Paul campaign officials were involved, Benton said.

Landmark Aviation plans on divesting its FBO (fixed base operation) "Landmark Aviation Airport Services" and upon consultation with Merrill Lynch has placed the "Airport Services" division in a management trust operated and overseen by trustee's James Schlesinger, the former Secretary of Defense, Energy and CIA Director; former Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska (9/11 Commission); and Dov Zakheim, the former Pentagon comptroller.

WASHINGTON -- FBI Director Robert Mueller said yesterday the identities of several of the suicide hijackers are in doubt as investigators arrested a man in Illinois wanted for questioning in last week's terror attacks.

In Chicago, the FBI arrested a man with the same name as a man with ties to a jailed associate of suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. The FBI said it was trying to determine whether the man in custody is the same person.

In Pennsylvania, at the site of the Sept. 11 crash of United Airlines Flight 93, Mueller said the FBI is confident it has "several hijackers whose identities were those of the names on the manifest. We have several others who are still in question."
