From June until August 2001 a series of documents made clear reference to bin Laden, and his associates impending attack on the U.S.

Philip Zelikow, the executive director of the 9-11 Commission who is credited by some commentators with creating a detailed outline of the commission's report before the data were in, seems to think that too much antiterrorist momentum has built up in Washington, and that the train needs to slow down in some respects. In a five-minute video interview with a staff member of the foreign policy magazine "Foreign Affairs" (www.cfr.org), Zelikow indicated that the bureaucracy put into place after 9-11 by Washington to deal with the [practically nonexistent] "terrorist" threat ought to change policy direction, but is resistant to doing so.

Zelikow patted himself and the commission on the back for what he deemed the commission's successes. "The country is safer than it was," Zelikow claimed. He crowed loudly at the balance that has been struck between civil liberties and security, saying the worst blow to freedom would be another "terrorist" attack like the one on 9-11.

According to the interview, Zelikow has recently authored an update to the 9-11 Commission Report, and has also posted an article with similar content for "Foreign Affairs."

The widely distributed German popular science magazine "Welt der Wunder" published in its new september edition a 9-page article with critical questions about 9/11. The magazine which sells about 250.000 copies and is edited by "Bauer Verlag", one of Germany´s biggest publishing houses, focuses on questions arising from the "9/11 Commission Report", especially regarding the failure of the air defense and for example the case of "main witness" Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, to whom the "9/11 Commission" had no access at all. The article´s headline reads "11 truths about 9/11". The author of the text contacted me a few weeks ago, because of my recently published book "Inside 9/11", and consulted with me during writing. Of the many unanswered questions about the attacks of September 11, one of the most important is: Why were none of the four planes intercepted?  A rough answer is that the failure of the US air defenses can be traced to a number of factors and people.  There were policy changes, facility changes, and personnel changes that had recently been made, and there were highly coincidental military exercises that were occurring on that day.  But some of the most startling facts about the air defense failures have to do with the utter failure of communications between the agencies responsible for protecting the nation.  At the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), two people stood out in this failed chain of communications.  One was a lawyer on his first day at the job, and another was a Special Operations Commander who was never held responsible for his critical role, or even questioned about it.

The 9/11 Commission wrote in its report that – “On 9/11, the defense of U.S. airspace depended on close interaction between two federal agencies: the FAA and the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).”[1]

According to the Commission, this interaction began with air traffic controllers (ATCs) at the relevant regional FAA control centers, which on 9/11 included Boston, New York, Cleveland, and Indianapolis.  In the event of a hijacking, these ATCs were expected to “notify their supervisors, who in turn would inform management all the way up to FAA headquarters.  Headquarters had a hijack coordinator, who was the director of the FAA Office of Civil Aviation Security or his or her designate. “

When 9/11 Commission Chief Counsel, John Farmer, released his book, The Ground Truth, debunking his own 9/11 commission report and was supported by Chairman Thomas Kean and commission member Senator Bob Kerrey with no dissent, the cover story of 9/11 died.

I'm posting this piece here for posterity and to keep note of some continuing reports that I have come across about the issue sharing of information between intelligence agencies or lack thereof. There's another similar report posted further down on my blog from CNN. This piece was originally entitled "What we learned from the 9/11 Report." It should be titled "What we HAVE NOT Learned from the 9/11 Report" if you are going to state in it that the problem still persists. Is this the report I'll be reading when the next 9/11 hits? After reading your article, it is painfully obvious to me what you haven't learned from the report. However, ignorance will not be bliss in this case.

1:06 mark..."terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. There is now a stated interest in conducting an 'investigation' into the anthrax debacle, but what will it produce? And how will it get there? How can we use it to draw comparisons to the 9/11 Omission Commission? Notice that currently everyone just refers to the 9/11 Commission as a model to follow -- if so, it will be a whitewash. But I don't think that will necessarily happen.

I find this situation fascinating because the potential exists for a relatively meaningful investigation along the lines of what should have happened on 9/11/01 -- the climate of fear is past, the power of the criminal Bush Administration is waning, the official anthrax story is absurd and transparent enough that even US Congress members can figure it out, and the propaganda labels and attacks on "anyone who dares question" our freedoms, (or anything else) is not yet arrived.

It has been six years since the events of September 11, 2001. It has been 3 years since the release of the 9/11 Commission Report. Yet there appears to be a growing number of questions surrounding this seminal event.
We all heard how 19 Arab hijackers commandeered four airliners and steered three of them into their targets. The fourth was overtaken by passengers and caused to slam into a field.
We were told that Arab extremists led by Osama bin Laden had orchestrated these attacks from Afghanistan. We were told that they hate Americans because of their freedoms.

This event constituted the grossest breach of national security since Pearl Harbour. Many wondered how such a massive failure of intelligence was possible.
The American public demanded that there be an official enquiry into the attacks. The Bush Administration waffled for over a year until finally, after intense pressure from families of 9/11 victims, it awarded 14 million dollars to put together a commission.

Student protesters say truth about 9/11 still not out

COLONIE - A small group of protesters from the University at Albany gathered, bullhorn in hand, in front of the Times Union building Monday afternoon, shouting that the truth behind Sept. 11 has never come out.

``The (9/11) Commission never really investigated it,'' organizer and UAlbany student Sean Muniz said.

Muniz's organization, a "loosely" associated chapter of 911truth.org, is a recognized club at UAlbany and even receives $250 per semester from the school's Student Association. The organization has been around since October 2006 at UAlbany and has 25 active members.

``This is something we're just starting to do,'' Muniz said of the protest. The protesters did not have a permit and Muniz said they did not need one because they were on a public sidewalk, at the corner of Wolf Road and Albany-Shaker Road.
