Phila. firm appeals 9/11 suit to U.S. high court

Phila. firm appeals 9/11 suit to U.S. high court By Chris Mondics INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Thousands of victims of the 9/11 attacks appealed to the Supreme Court today, asking it to overturn a lower court decision barring lawsuits against Saudi Arabia for supporting acts of terrorism.

The petition contended that U.S. intelligence agencies had unearthed ample evidence of the Saudi Arabia government's providing tens of millions of dollars to Islamist charities that in turn funded Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda organization.

U.S. government officials had repeatedly warned Saudi officials in the 1990s that government-backed charities were providing money and logistical support to bin Laden, but they failed to do anything about it, the petition said.

publicity opportunity at politics.com

A new site, politics.com, went live last month, and it offers 9/11 truthers some opportunities. It is similar to Digg in that users submit stories and readers endorse the ones they like. The most endorsed stories go on their front page.

Since politics.com is new, it currently doesn't take much to get a story moved to the top of the list. The all time highest rated story they've run had 9 endorsements, but just 3 endorsements is enough to put a story out front.

Seems like right now we have an opportunity to get some news into the public eye and perhaps influence the direction of the site. It already has a slightly off-center feel, with a highly rated piece by Christopher Hitchens mocking Obama-fever.

One of my complaints about Digg is that it is so overrun by techie types that non-tech stories never get much traction. That's the kind of trend, that once in place, is almost impossible to turn around. But this site is new, so unclear what it's niche will be.

WeAreChange Wishlist

WeAreChange NYC are in dire need of materials and resources to keep us on the offensive on the front lines of the Infowar. We have had cameras damaged and stolen, in need of replacements and repairs. We are in need of new banners, preferably double sided, to be able to display to passers-by on both sides, or to carry in marches and parades. We also go through thousands of DVDs and fliers every month, and the supply line is running thin. Donations are wonderful, and we assure those who can donate that your money will go straight to our efforts to bring truth to power and to educate the public one person at a time.

If anyone could donate the materials themselves such as:
-Cameras
-Batteries for cameras (for a sony handycam the longer the better)
-Wireless microphones
-Blank DVDs
-Mini DV tapes
-Fliers
-Stickers
-Banners

CBS News publishes Weekly Standard column on "9/11 Generation"

When did it become CBS policy to reprint neocon propaganda pieces from The Weekly Standard?

The 9/11 Generation And History
Nov. 12, 2008(Weekly Standard) This column was written by Dean Barnett.

In the 1960s, history called the Baby Boomers. They didn't answer the phone.

Confronted with a generation-defining conflict, the cold war, the Boomers--those, at any rate, who came to be emblematic of their generation--took the opposite path from their parents during World War II. Sadly, the excesses of Woodstock became the face of the Boomers' response to their moment of challenge. War protests where agitated youths derided American soldiers as baby-killers added no luster to their image.

Few of the leading lights of that generation joined the military. Most calculated how they could avoid military service, and their attitude rippled through the rest of the century. In the 1970s, '80s, and '90s, military service didn't occur to most young people as an option, let alone a duty.

"...why did he say there would be no investigation and then allow only the pretense of one - the pretense that was called into question by Kean and Hamilton, co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission?

I say this now, with all due respect to my fellow American citizens: We never had an investigation into the events surrounding that day. We, every one of us, deserved one."

Game over! Would you like a new game?

Seeking the truth, as we all do, we need to face it, even when we don't like it.

We lost the 9/11-truth battle with Obama's landslide victory!

You may ask how I reached to such a sad conclusion, and I will tell you why.

The wind behind our backs has always been the global disgust of the BushCo administration, and their domestic and foreign actions. That wind will disappear along with BushCo! Not only because they leave, but because they are exceeded by a political Messiah - perceived as the opposite of BushCo, and received with a global feeling of new hope!

With Obama, 9/11-truth will become an anoyance pointing back to the darkest years of American history, years the majority wants to put behind them. They want to forget 9/11!

I don't suggest that we abandon 9/11-truth - not at all! I merely suggest we use our forces on "the next 9/11", one that will surely come during Obama's reign! This time we will be prepared, and know the rules of the game from the beginning - thus giving us a much higher chance to prevail!

Sincerely
Kenneth Poulsen

ACLU wants probe into police-staged DNC protest

I wanted to add this to my blog. This is a few day old article that I had recently discovered and I did warn in the past of agent provocateurs interrupting peaceful protests across the U.S. (I apologize if this article had already been added by another member)...

When a Jefferson County deputy unleashed pepper spray at unruly protesters on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, he did not know that his targets were undercover Denver police officers.

Now the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado is questioning whether that staged confrontation by police pretending to be violent inflamed other protesters or officers during the most intense night of the four-day event.

The protest occurred Aug. 25 at 15th Street and Court Place near Civic Center. Police ultimately arrested 106 people, the highest number of arrests in a single day during the convention.

Obama administration to ratchet up hunt for bin Laden

Obama administration to ratchet up hunt for bin Laden

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/12/binladen.hunt/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Barack Obama wants to renew the U.S. commitment to finding al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, according to his national security advisers.

Osama bin Laden remains on the run despite a $25 million reward for his capture.

The Obama team believes the Bush administration has downplayed the importance of catching the FBI's most-wanted terrorist because it has not been able to find him.

"We will kill bin Laden. We will crush al Qaeda. That has to be our biggest national security priority," Obama said during the presidential debate on October 7.

But tracking down bin Laden won't be easy.

In May, al Qaeda released an audiotape featuring bin Laden. But U.S. intelligence officials say they haven't had a solid lead on the terrorist mastermind's whereabouts since late 2001, when he was nearly captured in a battle with U.S. forces near Tora Bora, Afghanistan.

3 Easy steps to counter the 'Conspiracy Nut' label

Calling someone a conspiracy theorist is the psychological equivalent of a four letter word. Therefore dealing swiftly with this common ad-hominem attack is essential. Here is a 3 step approach:

1/ Define 'Conspiracy Theorist'?
2/ Why does it apply to me?
3/ Of all people, why does it apply to me and me only?

Here's an example:

Denialist: You're a conspiracy theorist!

Truther: Please define what you mean by conspiracy theorist?

Denialist: A conspiracy theorist is someone who believes that his government killed its own population as a pretext for war.

Truther: How does that apply to me?

Denialist: You believe that our government plotted to kill Americans on 9/11.

Truther: So you're saying that anybody who believes that who believes that his government killed its own population as a pretext for war, is a conspiracy theorist? In that case, all historians having studied Operation Himmler's Reichstag, Nero, Gleiwitz incident, Lavon affair, KGB Chechnya bombings, Algerian civil war, Stalin are all conspiracy theorists?

Just an example, but you can apply this template to any definition the Denialist gives you.
