When we launched 9/11 Truth News, we knew we would be attacked.

And no one on the team was surprised when the first attacks came from people claiming to be on the side of 9/11 truth.

On Monday August 30, 2010, it came to my attention that I was the target of three hit pieces that had been published in rapid succession. The most prominent of these attacks came from Kevin Barrett, a self-declared 9/11 truth leader with a long history of actions and statements considered by many to be extremely discrediting to the 9/11 truth movement. Under an ugly, libelous headline on his "Truth Jihad" blog, Barrett issued a venomous litany of bizarre accusations against me: I'm probably an agent of the state, perhaps stalking his family, I'm a "wrecker" getting him kicked off conference lineups and - to top it off - there's evidence that I may actually be living a secret double life as a supporter of the official 9/11 story.

Barrett has been accusing associates of mine of being agents for years now, so these kinds of weird lies are nothing new. This time though, his headlined defamation was something altogether more sickening. The filth oozing forth from Kevin Barrett does not deserve to be dignified with any kind of response whatsoever. But the fact that these smears represent an attack on a dedicated activist with a very strong record - by a supposed "9/11 truth leader" with a large audience (multiple appearances on FOX News, a radio show, books for sale) - at a very critical time in this movement - demands that the issue be addressed.

9/11 Truth Takes Oshkosh!

Below is an abridged version of the text of Kevin Barrett’s talk at the
University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on 10/26/06.

Thank you for coming out tonight and supporting free speech and
academic freedom. I would like to thank the Oshkosh Campus Greens for
inviting me here tonight. And I would like to thank Steve Nass, Mark
Green, and the Wisconsin Republican Party, without whose ongoing
barrage of free publicity none of this would have been possible.

The Green party folks, unlike the Republicans, seem to know what
they’re doing. 9/11 skepticism offers an unprecedented opportunity for
third parties, who have been locked out of our system for too long.
9/11 was the most important historical event of the century. Yet polls
show that the American people, and the people of the world, simply do
not believe the government’s version of that event. A recent New York
Times poll showed that only 16% of the American people believe the
official story, meaning that 84% do not.
And a 2004 poll by Canada’s largest newspaper, the Toronto Star, showed
that nearly two out of three Canadians believe that top U.S. officials
committed high treason and conspiracy to mass murder on 9/11; while an
August, 2004 Zogby poll showed that half of New Yorkers believe the
same thing. A recent Scripps-Howard poll showed that 36% of Americans
believe that top US officials either perpetrated or allowed the 9/11
attacks in order to launch a war in the Middle East and Central Asia.
That 36% represents more Americans than voted for George W. Bush in the
last election, even if we believe the un-auditable figures of the
Diebold voting machines.

Anti-Semitic Textbook is Required Reading in Barrett’s Class

Madison – Recent news accounts of the “textbook” being used by University of Wisconsin Lecturer Kevin Barrett has prompted State Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) to once again call for Barrett’s firing.

According to a recent news story, a required textbook for students in Barrett's introductory class on Islam features Barrett's fictitious 9/11 conspiracy theory, harsh criticism of the nation of Israel and compares President Bush to Adolf Hitler. Suder has once again called upon the Governor and the Board of Regents to put an end to what has become a continuing national embarrassment for the UW System.

Suder commented after a WKOW Channel 27 News expose detailed the book, “9/11 and American Empire: Muslims, Jews, and Christians Speak Out." The book features Barrett’s mythical notion of the events of September 11th among essays written by fourteen others.

With spin worthy of FOX News, Madison's WKOW has cherry picked some quotes from "9/11 and American Empire Vol. II" to make it seem like the book is some sort of anti-Israel screed. The book is far from that, and features a Jewish co-editor, Sandra Lubarsky, a writer who applies Process Thought to Jewish Theology in some of her writing. (Not unlike David Ray Griffin and John Cobb who apply Process Thought to Christianity.)

Also featured in Vol. II are Jewish writers Professor Marc H. Ellis, Dr. Tamar Frankiel, Professor Roger S. Gottlieb and rabbi Michael Lerner. All of whom make very thoughtful contributions to the book.

Barrett's contribution is neither anti-semitic or hateful. Controversial? Obviously. However, by posting pieces like this (with no byline, BTW) WKOW only draws more attention to Barrett's work, and by lopsidedly presenting specific snippets that will provoke mini-scandals here and there, WKOW hovers on the edge of flat out Yellow journalism that offers no real balance.

Mainstream media coverage of 9/11 truth events is rarely what it should
be, as I have complained on more than one occasion... But I have to admit
that the local media did a pretty good job covering the recent
U.W.-Madison event “9/11: Folklore and Fact.” Once again, the
left-liberal-leaning Capital Times led the way with a
balanced, accurate, elegantly-written article, while the conservative
Wisconsin State Journal and Badger Herald also produced good, balanced

the trees were just starting to change colors. The 9/11
Lecture "Fact and Folklore" with Kevin Barrett and Jim Fetzer was
well attended and the speakers did a superb job. The BBC was there
to cover the event along with some local media. Veterans for 9/11
Truth was there and we passed out a couple hundred DVD's, numerous
flyers and we even had a 100 copies to pass out of the ACTA letter
sent to the President of the Board of Regents of the University of
Wisconsin Madison that addressed the Kevin Barrett controversy. You

Jim Fetzer presented the v911t check to Kevin Barett in the amount
of over $8,400.00. Again, I want to thank our hard working member
Cait for the website she created to help raise some of the money and
for her generosity towards this important cause of Free Speech. This
check represented Kevin Barrett's right to free speech. The Ozaukee
County Board in Wisconsin decided to reduce the amount they
contribute to the University of Wisconsin Madison in the exact
amount of Kevin Barrett's wages to punish the university for their
decision to keep Kevin Barrett in his teaching position. This was a

What do Dick Cheney's wife, Irving Kristol and Laurence Silberman have in common? They are all arch-neoconservatives (or married to them).

And they have all been working to get Professor Barrett fired from UW and to prevent other 9/11 truthers from teaching.

I can understand poor Lynne Cheney's involvement: she does not want to see her husband prosecuted as a traitor and war criminal as one of the apparent perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks.

• 9/11 Truth Table at Labor Picnic

  Join Kevin Barrett and other 9/11 truth-seekers this Monday, Labor Day, from noon to whenever it ends, at the annual Labor Day picnic, Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park St., otherwise known as LaborFest. There will be a 9/11 truth table with buttons, bumper-stickers, deception dollars and DVDs.

  Organized (get it?) by the South Central Labor Federation, LaborFest is a "day of solidarity and fun for the whole family." The music starts at 12:30 p.m. with Andy Linderman – Mel Ford Band. They will be followed by the jazz/funk sounds of Phat Phunktion at 2:30 p.m.

• 9/11 Truth-Seekers to Reimburse UW Extension Ozaukee County Board Cut Backfires

  Texas mother and 9/11 truth seeker Cait Burgess was outraged when she heard that the Ozaukee County Board had cut $8,472 from the local University Extension budget to punish the university for employing Kevin Barrett. So she took a crash course in web design, set up a fund-raiser, and is well on the way to raising the money necessary to reimburse the university! Jim Fetzer of Scholars for 9/11 Truth will host a press conference at which the funds will be presented to the university. As many following the rapidly growing “explosive” movement of truth surrounding the events of 9/11 already know, Dr. Kevin Barrett, lecturer at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, had what many would describe as a most challenging summer. As I wrote last month in “Churchill’s ashes still hot; Barrett next to be burned at stake” http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_971.shtml , Wisconsin state Representative Steven Nass and Governor Jim Doyle were both after UW-Madison’s Provost Patrick Farrell to remove Barrett from his part-time job at the University this fall.

Many defenders of free speech, while not actually going as far as to say that they agree with Dr. Barrett’s belief that the federal government orchestrated the attacks of 9/11, at least presented the issue in a fair manner.
