Conspiracy buffs dispute motives, causes of attacks

Somerset County Coroner Wally Miller has no time or patience to talk about conspiracy theories linked to the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Six years later, he's furious about lingering suggestions that Air Force fighter jets shot the plane from the sky, leaving a trail of debris and human remains over the fields surrounding Shanksville and into nearby Indian Lake.

"The plane crashed. People died. There was debris in Indian Lake. There were no human remains in Indian Lake," Miller said. "I'm not going to get into any conspiracy theories."

Although voluminous evidence exists that proves Islamic hijackers plotted and carried out the Sept. 11 attacks, numerous myths continue to find an audience among people who insist Americans are being denied the truth about what really happened that day in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

A crowd supporting Cindy Sheehan's congressional campaign to impeach and end the war gathered in Philadelphia the day after Cindy declared via sit-in at congressman John Conyer's office her candidacy against Pelosi. Sheehan supporters were quickly met with hostility as a pro-war veterans group known as the Gathering of Eagles disrupted the rally with shouting and blowing of foghorns. It was a circus of unproductive discourse and bruised egos. After a few minutes of filming debates between pro-war Vets and anti-war Peacers I was accosted about my "9/11 Truth NOW" shirt and called a "nut job" who, "believes the towers were blown up". I corrected my accusers' suppositions that "9/11 Truth" refers solely to exposing controlled demolition and attempted to elucidate other issues of import. The most outspoken of the vets, who turned out to be the National Coordinator for GOE, beckoned a worthy opponent who could challenge his perspective. I being the iconoclast that I am, decided to challenge the paradigms of this misdirected individual. For the record I avoided certain points of conflict in order to initiate deeper argumentation. Be sure to check out the confrontation with an agent of the "secret police" at the end.

Former House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2006 Tom DeLay, notoriously associated with lobbyist corruption and gerrymandering in the Texas legislature, took the floor at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to speak about his book, "No Retreat, No Surrender." DeLay began his oration with a self proclamation of religious reverence and then emphasized his conscientious observance of the Constitution exemplified with a pocket version removed from his blazer which he allegedly keeps always on his person. As an proponent of the Patriot Act and other legislation profoundly deleterious to our constitutional republic, Tom DeLay has adopted a psyche of the classic Orwellian archetype. It was no surprise then to hear DeLay speak of terrorism and the Iraq war while endorsing the "sacrifice of liberty" for "security". What was indeed a surprise however was DeLay's non-endorsement of a presidential candidate from the Republican party and instead his laudation for Hillary Clinton. At the book signing at the end of the speaking engagement, Philly 9/11 Truth members had the opportunity to engage Mr. DeLay about the reality of several of the presidential candidates' declaration for a new 9/11 investigation and the need for the 9/11 whistleblowers to be securely brought forward. Mr. DeLay responded that he would not support another investigation into the September 11th attacks because to do so would be to "live in yesterday" and that "we know we are at war" with "radical Islamists trying to kill us". DeLay did however extend that if any whistleblowers have "any real evidence, other than myth" they should contact him.

The day after we celebrated the anniversary of our Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia by holding an emergency convention designed to unify the sectarian elements of Patriot America, World Can't Wait held their own event, a town hall meeting with speakers David Lindorf, John Nichols, Deborah Sweet, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, and Mike Gravel. The panel of speakers offered little new in the way of remedies and the audience was equally unoriginal except for a few comments from 9/11 truthers intermeshed with the crowd. After the close of the event, Philly 9/11 Truth members along with Bruce Marshall of Vermont 9/11 Truth had the opportunity to speak with the purveyor of the Pentagon Papers and former senator of Alaska Mike Gravel about several issues including the anthrax attacks, the Federal Reserve, and Mayor Bloomberg's prohibitions on filming. It seems that we have another worthy candidate emerging as a darkhorse to take back America.

April 28, 2007, thousands of patriots gathered around the nation calling for impeachment of the Bush administration. Philly 9/11 Truth joined their local event and with the approval of the host, World Can't Wait, delivered a powerful speech educating the open minded about state sponsored terrorism and 9/11. After an array of speakers and performers the event transmuted into a march through the streets of Philadelphia. As the crowd of enthusiastic patriots streamed through the city resounding chants and radiating an intense image, Philly 9/11 Truth seized the stream of impeachment and converted it into a river of truth by co-opting chants and emancipating minds. The following footage is exemplary of how a concerted effort by a small 9/11 Truth brigade can do the work of one hundred men.

In late February, Philly 9/11 Truth encountered a billboard advertising Alan Dershowitz seminar about "Global Terrorism: The New World War" at the University of Pennsylvania. Excited to find out his take on 9/11, the Philly crew headed over to the Zellerbach theater at UPenn's campus to hear Dershowitz's perspective. The following footage documents what occurred when Dershowitz was presented with the truth and the subsequent reaction of the crowd of over 1,000 attendees.

Soggy grounds and howling winds met Philly 9/11 Truth as they hastened to reach thousands of Peace activists gathered in a field adjacent to the Lincoln Memorial. The original call was for Truthers to meet on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial however such was restricted due to police blockades protecting Pro-War demonstrators. As we explored the crowd, we found ourselves feeling like children who only get some of what they want for Christmas, seeing only a few 9/11 truth signs but no mass assembly. In light of these conditions we rushed back to the DC 9/11 Truth booth that we passed on our way into the rally and gripped handfuls of Truth paraphernalia. We fervently traversed the crowd handing out signage and requesting Truth activists to rally at the rear of the crowd. After about an hour of hard work, a small contingent assembled and the march toward the Pentagon began.

It was an abnormally warm late February day as Philly 9/11 Truth rode on the escalators out of the subway up onto the gravel and dirt path leading to the crowd gathered before the main stage. The sight on the mall was one of disillusionment for a brief moment for no 9/11 Truth banners or activists were visible, at least this was the case until minutes later when we ran into the satellite D.C. Truth information booth. We exchanged greetings with our fellow Truthers, took hold of a few “9/11 Truth Now” signs and continued around the perimeter. As we turned the corner to make our way behind the stage we saw a multitude of cameras and a figure swirled into the center, it was none other than the “good” Reverend Jesse Jackson bathing in the limelight in a clear attempt to soak up as many rays of public approval as he possibly could. With no time wasted, one activist grabbed the bullhorn and began chanting, “Jesse Jackson CFR” and so followed the squad. After a few minutes of yelling in close proximity about Jackson’s Council on Foreign Relations Membership and addressing those around him about the issues concerning 9/11, we continued our march around the perimeter until we arrived at the main D.C. 9/11 Truth location.

After brief salutations and retrieval of supplies from the D.C. Truth booth, we headed off to an adjacent path where thousands of people were streaming by. Agreeing that this was an opportune location to set up our display, we pulled out five giant poster boards designed by NY911Truth and stood behind them as thousands of people gazed curiously at the info array. Our presence reached its pinnacle as the image of truth was augmented with the voice of another activist on the megaphone thereby raising the power of the information. We spent roughly an hour communicating to crowds the importance of 9/11 Truth and other issues like the unaccounted for trillions of dollars from the DOD budget, and the usage of depleted uranium in the Middle East. Unfortunately we do not have record of the more illustrative footage of what occurred during that time period, as even the cameraman was fervently engaging the crowd. Though we did not capture all the footage from this session we did manage to save space for other worthwhile footage which will be posted in the near future.

The day after 500,000 plus people rallied in Washington D.C. calling for peace in the Middle East, a follow up strategy session took place at a High School not far away in Bethesda, Maryland hosted by United for Peace and Justice (UPFJ). The focus of the session was to educate Peace activists on the topics which were to be addressed during the Congressional lobbying session planned for the following day. However to the dismay of several 9/11 Truth activists in the audience, no mention was ever made of the most imperative issue of them all. UFPJ refuses to recognise 9/11 Truth as part of the Peace Movement demonstrated by the multiple requests made by D.C. 9/11 Truth and other 9/11 activists to arrange a 9/11 Truth speaker at the Peace Rally on January 27, 2007. Knowing full well the contempt held by UPFJ for the 9/11 Truth Movement, a voice of dissent made sure that 9/11 was on the UFPJ agenda!

As the Philly 9/11 Truth squad comprised of Temple University students was perusing the United for Peace and Justice rally at the Mall in Washington D.C Saturday morning they encountered behind the main stage an opportunity to shed some truth, who did they see, the "good" Reverend Jesse Jackson. They seized the opportunity and first began by confronting him on his Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) membership and then switched over to chanting about 9/11. They stirred up quite a commotion and drew attention from some of the press around Jesse. Check out the video here!
