I can't afford another ticket to join and film the encounter, but I mentioned it to Dylan, and suggested that he might want to send participate or atleast send someone with a camera. He didn't seem to interested but who knows . I'll keep working on getting someone to film this...Barrie can't wait to talk with Aamy and the other guests.

Then there are the inevitable conspiracy theories with some suggesting that the 9/11 attacks were in fact the handiwork of the administration designed to give it an excuse to fight a war for oil in the Middle East.

Two 20 something kids have even produced a short video of "Loose Ends" picked up from the Internet footage of the attacks to suggest that the twin towers fell in a controlled implosion, the Pentagon was hit by a cruise missile and not a plane, and the third flight headed for the White House was taken down by the US Air Force.

There is of course a perfectly logical explanation for the little puffs of dust seen rising from the bottom of the twin towers even before they collapsed and a smaller hole in the outer wall of the Pentagon.

The fumes at the bottom rose because of the build up of air pressure lower down as the upper floor fell and the hole in the Pentagon was only 75 feet wide because it was made by the fuselage of the Boeing 757 after its 124-foot-wide wings had broken off.

The fifth anniversary Monday also witnesses a whole host of rituals like peace marches, memorial meetings, interviews with the survivors and so on.

PEORIA - With the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11 fast approaching, a series of films critical of the U.S. government's official version of the disaster were shown Saturday at the Peoria Public Library.

The film marathon, which attracted about 60 people, featured a talk by Paul Thompson, author of "The Terror Timeline," a book that pieces together news stories and government documents to raise questions about the government's possible prior knowledge of or involvement in the attacks.

After the talk was a screening of the recently released "9/11: Press for Truth," a film based on Thompson's book that also chronicled the campaign of four Sept. 11 widows who pushed for an investigation into the attacks, an effort that culminated in the 9/11 Commission report.

"We're just wanting to put the facts out there," Thompson said before his talk. His book and the related film question, among other things, whether and how the federal government ignored multiple warning signs to the attack.

"Engineers had to consider every peril they could imagine when they designed the World Trade Center three decades ago because, at the time, the twin towers were of unprecedented size for structures made of steel and glass.

"We looked at every possible thing we could think of that could happen to the buildings, even to the extent of an airplane hitting the side," said John Skilling, head structural engineer. "However, back in those days people didn't think about terrorists very much."

Skilling, based in Seattle, is among the world's top structural engineers. He is responsible for much of Seattle's downtown skyline and for several of the world's tallest structures, including the Trade Center.

Concerned because of a case where an airplane hit the Empire State Building, Skilling's people did an analysis that showed the towers would withstand the impact of a Boeing 707.

"Our analysis indicated the biggest problem would be the fact that all the fuel (from the airplane) would dump into the building. There would be a horrendous fire. A lot of people would be killed," he said. "The building structure would still be there."

"There are periods in the life of human society when revolution becomes an imperative necessity, when it proclaims itself as inevitable. New ideas germinate everywhere, seeking to force their way into the light, to find an application in life; everywhere they are opposed by the inertia of those whose interest it is to maintain the old order; they suffocate in the stifling atmosphere of prejudice and traditions. "what the Iraqi people want"

In yesterday's press conference, President Bush insisted that there would be no withdrawal of American troops from Iraq as long as he was president. He gave a long, scattered list of reasons. Among them was a claim put forward in a number of different ways that boiled down to this: "it's what the Iraqi people want."

Mark Tessler and Mansoor Moaddel recently released some of the data from their latest survey of Iraqi public opinion. As reported in US News, this survey revealed that

The growing sense of insecurity affected all three of Iraq's major ethnic and religious groups. The number of Iraqis who "strongly agreed" that life is "unpredictable and dangerous" jumped from 41% to 48% of Shiites, from 67% to 79% of Sunnis, and from 16% to 50% of Kurds. The most recent survey, done in April this year, also asked for "the three main reasons for the U.S. invasion of Iraq." Less than 2% chose "to bring democracy to Iraq" as their first choice. The list was topped by "to control Iraqi oil" (76%), followed by "to build military bases" (41%) and "to help Israel" (32%).

On September 11th there will be two protests at the University of Texas at Austin. My friend and i have created a student organization called A Project for the New American Citizen dedicated to educating the student body on 911 truth and many other deceptions that have been pulled over our eyes.

The first protest will be from 12 noon to 2 pm on the West Mall next to the main clock tower.
for the first demonstration we will have local activist George Humphrey as a speaker. From the West mall we will march to the Capital building.

The Second protest will be from 6 pm to 7 pm on the Main Mall also right next to the clock tower.
This will be followed by the screening 9/11: Press for Truth in Burdine 216 on campus.
