Rummy Called Off Strike Against al Qaeda Brass

WASHINGTON, July 7 — A secret military operation in early 2005 to capture senior members of Al Qaeda in Pakistan’s tribal areas was aborted at the last minute after top Bush administration officials decided it was too risky and could jeopardize relations with Pakistan, according to intelligence and military officials.
The target was a meeting of Qaeda leaders that intelligence officials thought included Ayman al-Zawahri, Osama bin Laden’s top deputy and the man believed to run the terrorist group’s operations.
But the mission was called off after Donald H. Rumsfeld, then the defense secretary, rejected an 11th-hour appeal by Porter J. Goss, then the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, officials said. Members of a Navy Seals unit in parachute gear had already boarded C-130 cargo planes in Afghanistan when the mission was canceled, said a former senior intelligence official involved in the planning.

MSNBC just now reported that Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff announced today that he has a "gut feeling" that Al Qaeda will attack the U.S. this summer.

Chertoff Should be Fired.

What gives Chertoff the right to tell the country that he has a “gut” feeling that we’re going to be hit with a terrorist attack this summer?
“Summertime seems to be appealing to them,” he said of al-Qaeda. “We do worry that they are rebuilding their activities.”
Still, Chertoff said there are not enough indications of an imminent plot to raise the current threat levels nationwide. And he indicated that his remarks were based on “a gut feeling” formed by past seasonal patterns of terrorist attacks, recent al-Qaeda statements, and intelligence he did not disclose. There is an assessment “not of a specific threat, but of increased vulnerability,” he added.

I couldn't stay quiet and just listen to them blather on, so I decided to join the conversation. This is a man who has spoken of "the Arab genius for screwing things up" and his Cheneyac commitment to the idea that "There will be no peace. I should have known that he wouldn't be a 9-11 Truther.. I felt a duty, however to school him on the divide and conquer techniques catalyzing the volatile situation in Iraq and the relation of that to 7-7, 9-11 and the left-right divide in America. Another cryptic prediction of a new 9/11 event, in article called "The War Against The War". This one of course would be much bigger than the first, and this time naming Houston, Berlin, Vancouver or Paris as possible targets (or examples) and he asks what the reaction will be.
The author, Herbert E. Meyer, who was a CIA guy under Reagan, calls his blog page "The American Thinker". Very apropos, isn't it? He narrows things down to the two belief official American belief systems for the dumbed down masses. Left or Right (pick your poison). And for him there are only two solutions when it comes to war: offense or defense.
He talks about the War on Terror proclaiming that there are only two perceptions of it (liberal and conservative), never mentioning of course, the third possibility: 9/11 Was An Inside Job.
Meyer states "Study history, and you quickly learn that oftentimes events and the responses they generate look different a hundred years after they happen than they look at the time." Isn't that the truth! A look back at the last century will show that there was one False Flag Op after another, and that this is norm, not the exception.
