During an interview today on ABC’s This Week, President Bush tried to distance himself from what has been his core strategy in Iraq for the last three years. George Stephanopoulos asked about James Baker’s plan to develop a strategy for Iraq that is “between ’stay the course’ and ‘cut and run.’”

THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Harry Shearer is, well, you know, Harry Shearer—man of a thousand voices on The Simpsons, host of the NPR radio show Le Show, author of the just published Not Enough Indians, former cast member of Saturday Night Live, bass player for a little band called Spinal Tap that changed the face of entertainment. Besides all that, and blogging, Harry, who splits time between homes in New Orleans and Los Angeles, does a lot of live performance, like his upcoming gigs at Cal State Long Beach’s Carpenter Center.

OC Weekly: My daughter saw you perform in Scotland in something called This Is So Not About the Simpsons. Is this going to be that show?

Harry Shearer: No, that was something I did with my wife. This is going to be more of me talking, probably a little less about performance. It will be a monologue with a little musical piece at the end. There will probably be a video piece also. Then I’ll probably ask for questions from the audience and ignore them.

It's perplexing the way people hold tight to their views even when they hold views that might be considered exclusive to each other. The American mind is quite baffling. Today im writing my rant. Bush and his regime is changing the American way of life, re-writing, instating, and changing our law's which directly or in some cases in-directly conflict with our rights set forth by our founding fathers. Since 9/11, our way of life has been changed for the worse, i hate to say it folks, but if we dont make a stand, and demand to be heard, and fight to keep our rights, we will end up as a communist country with the world wide impression that we are still "free' (though this seems true now adays). Our freedom and rights are constantly in major jeporady, and yet the american public sits back and "trusts" what the Inside terroists(bush & friends) tell us is real and true. I know for one it has taken me 5 whole years as a resident of NY to realize that they (bush & friends) are a bunch of self-contradicting jerk off's that lie to start off with, and when the truth is brought forth, lie again about their previous statements that were made such as;

"Sadam is confirmed to have Nuclear weapons of mass destruction"
Then after years in iraq....
"It is confirmed sadam had no Nuclear weapons, and had no direct or indirect ties with the taliban, alqueda, or any terrorist affiliations what so ever"

First off, I have been a "Truther" for over 4 years, but am new to this site. My first question would be this... "How many truthers really read this site?" Is it just a couple hundred...or is it thousands? I watch the site counter, and see it going throught the roof. How many people are on here for real....or is it just a small group that keeps coming back ten times a day like myself?

I am a 40 year old guy that is very $$ Stable, and have many options in regards to what I do with my life. I read every post that you guys put up, and I love you guys for it. BUT, I have a gut feeling that we as AMERICA are in serious trouble. We have a Gov't that is totally out of control and has an Agenda that we can only speculate about. We are in serious trouble.

My dad who is 74, is a 50 year Republican, and to my "SHOCK" he said this. "Bush is a NUT, he is destroying what this country has stood for!". When I listened to this coming from my dads mouth...the chills ran right down my spine. We actually had a discussion about some 9/11 issues, and I showed him the truth about 9/11. I showed him the 10 minute clip of Alex Jones's Martial law only concerning WTC7. My dad was so pissed, he continued to say..."They are all crooks...from the Bottom up." Remember.....this is my 74 year old Republican dad............so to get to my point ....... I am scared. I am one of those tough guy wrestler/Rugby players that you would never want to confront. Allegations of severe torture have regularly emerged from Iraq

Torture may be worse now in Iraq than under former leader Saddam Hussein, the UN's chief anti-torture expert says.

Manfred Nowak said the situation in Iraq was "out of control", with abuses being committed by security forces, militia groups and anti-US insurgents.

Bodies found in the Baghdad morgue "often bear signs of severe torture", said the human rights office of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq in a report.

The wounds confirmed reports given by refugees from Iraq, Mr Nowak said.

He told journalists at a briefing in Geneva that he had yet to visit Iraq, but he was able to base his information on autopsies and interviews with Iraqis in neighbouring Jordan.

During his speech Friday in which the President argued for the gutting of the Geneva convention and the legal classification of torture, Bush made a strange comment about explosives and their placement in U.S. buildings. Was this a tacit admission of 9/11 controlled demolition?
